Legends of Kepler: The Dragon & The Woman
CHAPTER VIII: HEART OF THE KING (4)

Amalia´s gaze was sober and focused. Although the armor weighed on her, she was fast, agile. And her spells collapsed big masses of the attackers. Argôn, distracted, tried to focus himself; for his eyes kept looking at the beautiful triumphant face of the sorceress.

He understood then, what his heart really felt. He understood then, that his feelings were undeniable. Where he was before, and where he was now, allowed him to understand why everything was worth it. Well, it was all for only one thing. It couldn’t be clearer. Strangely enough, in Argôn ’s mind, time stood still, and only the woman was in motion. With the arrows flying around, between the fall of the bodies of men, in the merciless and uncertain field, within the big chaos of war, the man dropped his sword. He walked towards the woman, grabbed her by the hip, pulled her close to him. He looked her deeply in the eyes, and kissed her. The surroundings froze, and from the perspective of the begotten love, the moment was infinity; the moment was eternal.

They came back to reality. The woman continued to caress the General’s face, when a large horse with his horseman approached. It was Ordonel, one of the riders of the main line.

“My General, they have shot down the Colonel!” said Ordonel.

“Hamoen!” shouted Argôn. “Let’s go!”

Argônæth climbed on Ordonel’s horse, and the two knights ran quickly towards the beginning of a grassland full of high and flooded wisps. Knocking down the enemies at their vigorous pace. They were in the other side of the battlefield. They got down, and involved each other into the rivalry. By their own means, they found each other involved among the crusade; meeting right in the center of the chaos.

Suddenly, they were surrounded by a group of atrocious barbarians. The area was the main point for the savage muggers, and among the dry bushes of it, they had the Colonel trapped. Guarded by Orman the Giant Orc, leader of all the barbarians.

Although, the brave knights stepped in, almost without thinking. Crossing throughout the murderous agglomeration. Surpassing broken spears and busted shields. They faced together, the dozens of retracting barbarians.

“Well, well. What do we have here?” said Orman. “Two insects causing me problems. I was waiting for you.”

“Where is the Colonel?!” asked Ordonel.

“Mmm, that´s strange. I have not seen any Colonel” exclaimed the giant, “but if you speak of a weak and incredulous cockroach, here I have it!”

The Giant grabbed behind him, a man tied with bandages on his heels and hands; in between his mouth, too. He was covered in blood and his armor was completely destroyed.

“Hamoen!” shouted Ordonel. “You will pay dearly for this!”

“Will I be the only one?” said the giant. “Look how you’ve left my people! My warriors are falling because of you! This was our victory! And if we are going to lose, then you will lose something too!”

The giant buried a sword in the colonel’s breastplate. Ordonel could not contain himself, and directly attacked the giant, but the giant cleverly pulled out an ax that was hanging on his back, and buried it in the man’s ribs. The rider had fallen into the trap.

“Ordonel!” shouted Argôn.

The giant took his ax from the man’s ribs, and he fell on the overthrown ground. Argôn moved quickly to where Ordonel was, but just then, Hamoen managed to let go of his hands from the ropes. Hook out the small sword pierced in his chest, and while still on his knees and feet tied up, he buried his sword in one of Orman´s legs. The giant shouted in pain, and mercilessly, buried his ax in the other colonel’s breastplate, tilting Hamoen one step toward into death.

“This has been disgusting enough!” Argônæth shouted.

“Come on, man!” said the giant.

Argôn ’s blood went wild. His hands emanated a faint fire, and it connected with his sword through his hilt. The bronze sword of the General was lit lightly on fire. The blade blazed in flames, and aggressively attacked the giant.

Orman tried to defend himself with his ax, but the General was too fast for him. He attacked his legs, weakening his mobility. In an attempt to cut off the general’s head, Argôn dodged the blow, and with the vertical attack taught by Hamoen himself, he cut exactly the giant’s thick and unshakable ax in half.

He seized momentum, jumped at him, and buried the sword of fire right in the giant’s heart. Orman felt the blow immediately, and he fell backwards while Argôn still hold on to the sword. The Barbarian Leader had been defeated.

“Colonel! Tell me something!” said Argôn. “Ordonel is dead, don’t leave us too!”

“Argôn” said Hamoen. “You have won. We have won.”

“You won’t fall here,” said Argôn. “Where are the damn recovery riders!”

“Quiet, General. I am not going to win this battle” responded Hamoen. “My time has come and I can leave in peace, knowing that in my home, there will be a great leader awaiting. You are destined for this. Anaís is meant for you. This town needs to get up, and it has risen because of you. This town needed to defend itself, and it has defended itself thanks to you. And today the Colonel will lost his life, but because you and Amalia, he has guaranteed the lives of the children of this town. You and her have turned this village into a unified community. Everything has changed for the good of our distant lands, since you arrived. This rank does not belong to me anymore. You are now, the true Colonel of Anaís.”

“Tell my people to remember me, like I will remember them” said the dying man.
