Summer Frost POV

I didn’t ever want to meet Hunter’s family for any reason, Though I’ve not met any of his family members yet, according to what i heard, he lost his Dad at a very tender age and his single Mom brought him up along with his sister. Rumor had it that Mrs Moore and her daughter are problematic, and trust me, I didn’t want to deal with another set of psychopathic family, but do I have a choice when Dad kept pushing me?

Miguel stood up as soon as I walked inside the living room, fully dressed for the dinner. Jack and Jake were already waiting for me since Dad asked to bring them over.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to come with you, ma’am?” Miguel inquired, but I just smiled at him and shook my head slightly. I really wanted him to come with me even if he was not going to save me there. I just needed someone by my side, but I knew it wasn’t a good idea and Dad won’t like that since this was supposed to be between families, so there was no point bringing him with me.

“You look gorgeous, Mommy.” Jack complimented me with a sweet smile on his face as he looked up at me.

The drive didn’t take much time before we arrived, and an unfamiliar car was parked at the parking lot which only meant that Hunter and his family arrived already. I was about to step out of the car when my phone beeped and I checked to see a text from Dad.

The slight resemblance between them was evident enough for me to know that she was really his Mom. She was chubby with a round face, short brown hair, brown eyes, small lips, plump cheeks, and a slightly pointed nose. She was beautiful even with her size, but I could not say the same for the frown on her face.

“I’m sorry I came late. I was held up in a traffic jam,” I didn’t have to apologize, but I thought it was nice to since they got here first before me.

“Uhm. Summer..” Hunter quickly stood up with a smile on his face. “This is my Mom and my sister,” He introduced her along with the young lady in her twenties who was sitting beside the woman, also glaring at me.

“Mom, this is Summer. The lady I told you about,” Hunter had this excitement on his face. That excitement anyone would have when introducing their partner to their family. It looked like he was the happiest man on earth at the moment, but sadly, I could not say the same for myself because I was already disgusted by everything here.

“It’s nice to meet you, ma’am…” I paused and looked at Hunter for the girl’s name, and he whispered “Hazel

“Oh, I forgot you told us that she is a single Mom. She’s not that bad,” She stated rudely as she shrugged, and I slowly clutched my fingers around my bag tightly as waves of anger spurred through me. Did they call me here to insult me?

“Don’t be rude, Hazel!” Hunter scolded her for the second time, and their Mom threw him a glare.

“You shouldn’t talk down on your sister because of another woman. I think you could’ve done better, anyway. Not that she’s that bad, but a single Mom was what I never expected my son to bring home, but what can I do when you insisted?” This woman was getting on my last nerve and I was doing everything I could to hold myself back.

I looked at Dad who was already seated, expecting him to at least say something, but his action said it all. These insults meant

nothing to him.

“What’s wrong with being a single Mom?” Jack suddenly spoke up out of the blue moon, and everyone turned to him, shocked. Even I was shocked.

“Why are you talking down on Mommy? Were you not taught that it’s not nice to bully others?” I didn’t know my baby was so smart, I wasn’t going to shed a drop of tears though I was hurt, but seeing the way Jack was defending me melted my heart and I could not hold back my tears.

“Uhm… Jack I’m sorry about.”

“It’s not nice to interrupt adults when they are talking, but permit me to… Did you invite Mommy here so your Mom and sister can bully her?” Jake spoke up with anger in his voice, and I just stood speechlessly.

“There is nothing wrong with being a single Mom. Mommy has boon there for us. She is the strongest Mommy on earth for raising us alone. Why are you talking down on her when you should be praising her for raising two kids on her own?” Jack’s teary voice came up, breaking the last piece of my heart.

“They are insulting Mommy. Why didn’t you tell them to stop?” He cried even harder, but Dad didn’t show care.

She threw me a long disdainful glare before she picked up the cutleries and dug inside the food….
