Love conquers all
28. Programs for the after party

The organization of the end-of-year / prom party took up all my time, so much so that I thought that when it would pass, I would be left with nothing to do. Immediately afterwards I was assailed by the fear of dying. Indeed I was not afraid of dying, but afraid of letting go of the people I loved: my family, even more afraid of leaving Nathan. Not having a future was destabilizing. I had always been an organized girl, I planned every second of my day, meticulously planned everything about my future. Having nothing to plan and live from moment to moment was exciting at first, but knowing that the end of my journey was sure and near made everything seem heavier, more anxious at times. I can’t deny having thought about Ela’s proposal more than once, but living with the thought that Nathan might not be part of my new life as a vampire made me reject the idea. Would it be comparable to dying and what would be the difference between actually doing it and living that way, dead inside?! Was it really worth it? I was not even remotely convinced!

“Good morning girls!” I greeted my friends. We met in the school corridor, just before the bell rang.

“Good morning, Myra. Today for lunch we have to discuss the program for the after party!” Abby announced, looking particularly excited as she communicated it.

“Program?”

“Sure, we have to celebrate for more than one reason and therefore we have to go wild and do it at least until dawn!” Andrea said with a little too much emphasis.

“Okay, we’ll talk about it at lunch.” I said with a smile, I was curious to hear their idea of a program for the night.

The morning went on quietly, so much so that lunch came very quickly.

“So what would your idea of a program be for the night?” I asked, glad to finally know their plans.

“The end of year / prom party will end after midnight. I thought about going out into the city. ” Abby said with a mischievous grin.

“Yes, I agree. We will turn the party into a white night. We will go around the city and go from club to club, between dances and drinks.” Andrea said, placing the fork on his lunch tray.

“I don’t want to be a party killer, but Myra can’t drink!” Nathan said making my situation clear; I would have liked to disagree immediately, but it was not possible; it was the truth.

First point: I was human, so I didn’t have the same ability to detoxify myself from alcohol almost immediately.

Second point: I was under medical prescriptions that prohibited any use of alcohol.

Third point: there was no certainty that my tumor had left me alone for one night. Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“I think it can be done ...” I began to speak when Abby interrupted me, addressing her next statement to Nathan: “See, if drinks are a problem for her, I’m willing to have a couple on her behalf!”

“Me too!” Aurora said, until that moment she had remained silent. Ela with Rosalinda was passing close to our table.

“Have I heard something about drinks?” Ela asked as she stopped next to me.

“You heard right, we were discussing the program of the after party.” I told Ela, looking at her over my shoulder.

“We all offered to have a few drinks instead of Myra, which she can’t drink!” Abby said.

“I’m a vampire and as you know I don’t drink or eat, but I think I could handle a few drinks for Myra, of course if I can join you.”

“Sure you can, Ela!” Aurora said with her sweet smile.

“There are no problems for me either!” Abby exclaimed, while Andrea agreed with a nod of her head.

“Okay, you girls always get what you want, right?” Nathan said, accepting defeat in exasperation.

“I’m sorry to tell you I’ve never lost once!” Abby said confidently.

“Maybe you haven’t found the right one yet!”

“I think even if I find him, he’ll always do what I say! I am a dominant person so ... ”

“Never say never in life!”

“Right, we’ll see what the future holds for me.” Abby said as she ended her diatribe with Nathan. The lunch break was over and the program was broadly defined.

When the day’s lessons were over, Nathan asked me to make a stop at the castle.

“I have to go talk to your dad about the after party program. You know we can’t do it without him knowing. ”

“Come on, I’ll spend some time with my mother, while you talk to my father.”

“Guys, what brings you to the castle?” My mother asked with the smile of someone who was happy and worried at the same time.

“Nathan has to discuss an issue with Dad and I wanted to have a chat with you!”

“Shall we go to my study?” My father asked Nathan, who nodded in response. He got up from the stool on the kitchen island he was sitting on, kissed me and went away with Nathan, while I took a seat next to my mother.

“How are you, Myra?”

“Well, I’m fine mom!”

“I’m asking you how you really are, you don’t have to say what you always say to everyone. I see you are not well. You are my little girl, I know you better than anyone else. ”

“Mom ... I’m tired of fighting.” I admitted with regret, but I knew that lying to my mother would be difficult, so the truth was the only thing to say.

“I can see it from your face. From your body. Is there anything I can do? Shall we call Dr. Leporis? ”

“I thought I’d contact him, but I’ll do it after the end of year party.”

“Myra ...”

“No, Mom. I won’t do it a moment before the party is over. ”

“As you wish, my darling.” At that moment I wanted to talk to her about Ela’s proposal, but I controlled myself not to. I knew that if I told her about that proposal she would hate me somehow, and that wasn’t what I wanted. I was not prepared to fight and spend energy to explain the reasons that led me to reject that tempting proposal. My mother was staring into space, it meant she was engaged with someone in a conversation through the mind link.

“Come on, your father wants to talk to us about something important.”

We immediately went to my father’s study, where he and Nathan had gone to discuss the after party.

“Nathan told me about your idea of the after party that you have planned. The thing I had to add for your safety, which I’m not willing to bargain on, is: go to the city with the bodyguards. I cannot let you go without an escort, not until we know who was behind the attack of the rogues.”

“Okay, it’s a compromise that I’m willing to accept. They have always been discreet so I have no problems with the escort. But did you let us come here just to tell me this?”

“No, I asked Nathan to officially join our pack. At the wedding we announced his future as an Alpha in this pack, so now is the time to take the first official step. ”

“You should ask him what he wants to do. The decision is up to him.” We all turned to look at Nathan waiting for his answer.

“Joining the pack would make it easier for all of you to communicate through the mind link, especially when we’re out with the escort. But apart from that I have already accepted the role as Alpha that you have proposed to me, I have accepted to follow the preparation path until taking a position as an actual Alpha. By this I mean that: I am ready to take the first real step.”

“When will we announce his joining the pack?” I asked my father.

“We can do it tonight, if you don’t have any other plans.”

“Don’t waste time, dad.” I said in a sarcastic tone.

“Not when I don’t have the intention.”

“Then it’s decided, we will notify the whole pack and you will talk to your family. If they want to join our pack too, they are free to do so.”

“Thanks Alpha, I’ll go and talk to them about your proposal right away.”

“See you later, you two.” I greeted my parents, closing the door of my father’s study as I took Nathan’s hand.

Ivan and Silvia had agreed to be part of our pack, after all it was their new home and their life had improved since they had set foot here. They had no reason to give up on one of those proposals that would have added value on both sides.

For the occasion I wore a simple but elegant pink dress, after all I was the bride of the new member and future Alpha of the pack. I wasn’t going to be there when it happened, so this occasion was the most important for me.

We arrived at the castle early, they were still arranging the small stage they had erected to carry out the welcoming ceremony for the new members.

The inhabitants of the pack had already begun to gather in the garden, some in human form, others in werewolf form; while Nathan and I talked with our friends gathered for the occasion.

“When I finish school I have a serious job offer for your mother.” Andrea told me looking at the decorated garden.

“What proposal?” I asked her, despite knowing her admiration for my mother’s party arrangements.

“I will ask your mother to be my partner in event creations. She does real miracles! ”

When everything was ready, my father approached us asking Nathan and his family to join him on stage.
