Chapter 35 

“Hey, Mr. Ziegler! Are you asleep?” Caroline would like to have a word with him. 

The man, who had just been scolded, was swearing in his heart then. “Humph, I’m no pushover! When I was talking to you, you were acting nonchalant. I’ll let you have a taste of it now that you want to speak with me!” He snorted inwardly. 

“Falling asleep so soon? Forget it!” Caroline grunted, closed her eyes, and went to sleep. 

After a while, Quintin heard the shallow breathing of the woman next to him. He figured that she must be asleep, yet he was 

still awake. 

He thought about the feeling when he touched that thing, and his heart was constantly racing that it couldn’t stop on its

“Oh, this is driving me crazy!” he yelled inwardly. 

A video of Caroline harming Yasmin went viral on the internet in just one night. It was featured on the news. 

Although there was no mention of who got beaten, the scene where Caroline hit someone was completely exposed. Some netizens thought Caroline was a shrew because they didn’t know the truth. 

A flood of verbal abuse ensued, all aiming at Caroline. 

Many netizens, filled with righteous indignation, told her that a woman like her was unworthy of living! 

The Queen residence manipulated some of the news to tarnish Caroline’s name. 

The news on the internet was getting more heated. Even the Lewis residence had watched those reports. 

Yvonne browsed her phone and came across the video of Caroline hitting someone. She was shocked. “Oh my goodness! Caroline is trending now. She was being rebuked incessantly,” she exclaimed inwardly. 

She wondered who was the mastermind behind all that. 

“Dad! Mom! Hurry! Come and have a look! Caroline’s video of hitting someone is all over the news!” Yvonne showed her parents the news on her phone. Melissa looked shocked after watching it. “My goodness, how could Caroline do such a thing?” 

Harry slammed the table angrily after looking at it. “That brat has disgraced the Lewis residence.” 

Seeing her father in rage, Yvonne exchanged looks with Melissa. The mother and daughter duo were feeling smug. 

“Dad, Caroline has got into trouble. Now what?” Yvonne questioned. 

Harry picked up his briefcase and went out. “She brought this on herself, so she has to take the blame. I don’t care!” 

He felt awful thinking about what happened at the birthday party in the hotel that day. It was time to teach that rascal a lesson! Her actions were simply outrageous! 

When Harry left the house, Melissa said, “Yvonne, now that she had gotten into trouble, it’s a good opportunity for you to act now. You better hurry and take down the investment from Lucent Venture Capital. Your dad will surely treat you differently after that!” 

“I know, Mom. I’m going to win this Lucent Venture Capital investment project! By the way, the company is holding a welcoming ceremony today. Guess who is the new design director we finally hired at a high payment after three months of negotiation?” 

“Who is it?” 

“We hired the internationally renowned design master, Nyx, to work for Lewis Group as the design director. With her joining, Lewis Group will surely lead the pack in the design industry. I can’t talk to you anymore. I have to rush for some preparations now.” 

“Okay. Go ahead!” Melissa was pleased to see her daughter get into the car. Her son and daughter were doing well. Her son, Jeremiah, was the vice general manager of Lewis Group. Her daughter was the chief designer, who was also in charge of the project department. Her future son–in–law was also the CEO of Lewis Group. 

It looked like the future of Lewis Group was all theirs! 

Melissa wanted to show Lydia that her children were better than Lydia’s if Lydia was still alive. 

Meanwhile, in Tanglevine Residence, Caroline woke up and saw her son’s little cheeks when she opened her eyes. She couldn’t help but kiss him a few times. 

Leon had also woken up. Knowing that his mother had just kissed him, he looked at her with his big black eyes.. 

“How wonderful it is to wake up in Mommy’s arms every day for the rest of my life!” he thought. 

“Get up, Leo! I’ll send you to school later!”

Leon jumped out of bed and went to wash up with his mother. 

Flynn arrived when breakfast was over, and Caroline had already taken Leon out of the house and dropped him off at the school herself. 

At the garden of the Ziegler residence, she ran into Carmen and Savannah. 

Savannah had already picked up both Bryan and Kent. The atmosphere became instantly tense when she saw Caroline holding Leon’s hand. 

Caroline took away Savannah’s right to pick up Leon because of what happened yesterday. The latter was resentful about it. 

Leon was the only connection Savannah had to Quintin, and now she was no longer allowed to pick the former up, which meant that the kid could not be used as an excuse for her to meet Quintin. 

It made her furious to think about it. 

Caroline saw they had not greeted her, so she just went outside with her son. 

Savannah said, “Well, I do really feel sorry for myself for having to put up with someone without manners. She calls herself a debutante but doesn’t even bother to greet an elder.” 

The words were directed to Caroline. Carmen looked at her. “Caroline! Hang on a minute! 

“Yes, Ms. Carmen?” Caroline stopped and asked. 

“Don’t forget about the matter with the Queen residence. You told us that you would go there. Don’t run off halfway and leave the mess to the Ziegler family!” Carmen cautioned. 

“I don’t need to be reminded. I’m not that forgetful.” With that said, Caroline took her son by the hand and walked out the door without looking back. 

The two women huffed with anger. Savannah stomped her feet furiously. “Look at her! How dare she keep herself so arrogant and aloof? Humph! I bet she has no idea that she has been scolded badly!” 

“A bitch will have to pay for what she did! She’ll find it out soon!” Carmen said with a ruthless glint in her eyes. 

They all wanted the Queen residence to put an end to Caroline’s life and solve all of their problems. 

Caroline and her son waited for Riley to pick them up. They didn’t get inside the car of the Ziegler family yet. 

After Riley picked them up, he did not take them directly to Eureka Kindergarten. Leon saw that the car was heading in a different direction than usual. 

He looked around with his big eyes a little excited. “Is Mommy taking me away? Oh yay! I can’t wait to leave with Mommy!” he thought. 

Caroline noticed a rectangular box beside the seat and asked, “What’s this box?” 

“It’s for you, Ms. Lewis. Someone delivered it to the office today, and I brought it with me when I came by to pick you up,” Riley explained. 

Caroline was overwhelmed with shock when she opened the box. 

Surprisingly, it contained a bouquet of Jacaranda inside. 

“It’s Jacaranda!” 

It was just like the Jacaranda she had seen in front of her mother’s ashes at the columbarium. 

“How can it be Jacaranda? Did you see who sent it?” 

“No! The receptionist said it was from a delivery boy, but there was no name on it.” 

“No name means they wish to remain anonymous. Who would send this for me?” she pondered. 

The person, who sent it to Lucent Venture Capital, indicated that the person knew her well, even her identity. 

“Who could it be? Why would this person send me jacaranda? This is Mom’s favorite flower. Could it be the man in the windbreaker at the columbarium that day?” she mused. 

Caroline was having trouble connecting the dots between so many things. All she knew was something was going on there. She wondered what that person was trying to tell her with that flower.
