Chapter 4 Mate

Freya’s POV

“I’m so excited for you to see my house and meet my Dad,” Sienna giggled as we left her car “He knows you’re coming so please don’t feel worried!”

I had felt a little worried, and hesitant to be setting foot in another Pack. I had only known the Frostwind Pack for most of my life, and I couldn’t help feeling intrusive barging my way into Sienna’s Pack. What if they didn’t like me? What if her Father, the Alpha of the Highland Pack didn’t like me?

“You know, if I have words with Dad, he might even let you join our Pack,” Sienna grinned as we approached the front door “Wouldn’t that be so cool?!” We would be together so much!”

“That would be really nice,” I replied nervously, wishing I could feed off Sienna’s excitement right now.

As we entered the house, my mouth fell agape at how vastly beautiful this house was.

“Woah!” I exclaimed, “You have way more money than Nathan!” I realised what I had said and clasped my hands over my mouth “Oh my god, I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to say that out loud!”

“Oh it’s okay, honestly,” Sienna giggled “The Highland Pack are incredibly wealthy, but we don’t tend to throw it around like the Frostwind Pack does, we’re quite humble about ourselves in that respect,”

I nodded “So I see! I mean, I always knew you had money, Sienna, but this…” My eyes studied every inch of the lavish decor surrounding me, all the finishes were sparkling and clean. Not like I had ever seen “The Frostwind Pack House is so dull and boring in its decor,” I laughed “I clearly joined the wrong Pack!”

“First off we need to get you out of that dress,” Sienna pointed “As stunning as you look, the sooner you remove it, the better,” she grinned “Can we burn it?”

“After what you told me about Nathan, I don’t want you having anything tied to him,” Sienna shuddered “What a creep, I can’t believe I thought he was hot,” she paused “You know I was kind of jealous you were marrying him. Now I feel lucky it was you and not me,”

“Thanks, ever so much,” I replied with a laugh “Your home is really quiet,”

“Yeah,” Sienna said as I followed her to the staircase “When my Dad’s here alone he likes to relax, but when my dork of a brother Milo is here, he is the noisy one!”

“Right,” I made a mental note “Earplugs for Milo,”

Sienna giggled as we ascended the stairs “Gosh I’m so excited to have you here Freya! Even if it’s from the most awful circumstance,”

It was then, as I had made my way halfway up the stairs, I felt something inside me. A strong feeling I hadn’t ever felt before, like an aching in my chest and a buzzing surge through my entire b*dy.

‘MATE!’ Both myself and my wolf, Elara yelled in our minds.

‘Here? In this house?’ Elara asked, her voice as shocked as I felt.

‘I don’t know,’ I replied, my heart racing as I tried to remain calm so as to not show Sienna the crazy emotions I was feeling ‘The only person in this house at the moment is…’

As we reached the top of the stairs, there I saw him. Standing tall and rugged, the first thing I noticed was how enticing his eyes were. They stared straight into me, and I could feel him reaching into my soul with his gaze.

My chest became heavy as my breathing quickened, my heart pulsing and racing as it echoed in my ears.

“Dad!” Sienna cried gleefully as she greeted the man who undressed me with his eyes “This is my friend Freya! The one who will be staying with us!”

‘No, No, No, No. This can’t be happening, Elara!’ I reached out to my wolf once more ‘What the f**k? I’ve just left my fiance at the altar, and now the Moon Goddess decides to choose my mate? I’m still in my damn wedding dress!!’

Even the voice in my mind was panicked, our eyes still locked on one another I couldn’t take my gaze away from him. Sienna’s Father was absolutely gorgeous, in a silver fox older man kind of way.

‘The Moon Goddess has found our fated mate, Freya,’ Elara replied ‘We must respect her choice, she is doing us a nice favour by giving us happiness after the past struggles,’

‘You’re really not helping me here,’ I rasped at my wolf ‘I can’t be mated with my friend’s Dad, I just can’t!’

As much as I freaked out, I also knew I wanted this so badly. I could feel my mate’s allure just by the way he looked at me. I wanted to make love to him, feel his strong looking hands on my b*dy. I wished he would tear this dress from me, toss it away and make wild passionate love to me, and show me what I really deserved.

“This is Rufus Crimson,” Sienna introduced us “He’s the Alpha of the Highland Pack,” A wide smile spread across her l*ps, seemingly not noticing the sparks between me and her Father “But now, I need to take Freya to my room and get her out of this dress,”

Rufus grunted “Nice to meet you, Freya,” watching me as Sienna took my hand and led me down the corridor.

As we walked past him, I caught Rufus’ natural scent and it drove me wild. We barely touched, but as I brushed my arm past the Alpha, I felt the sparks ignite between us.

Our eyes never broke contact, even when I had made my way past him, I turned my head to keep my eye on him. Rufus had turned to watch me until I disappeared into Sienna’s bedroom.

“So what do you think of my Dad?” Sienna asked with a giggle “Some of my friends think he’s hot, but that’s just gross,”

I watched as Sienna began to rummage through her wardrobe, picking out clothing for me to wear. I planted myself on the edge of her bed, my eyes focused on a random point on the floor as I tried to take in what had just happened.

‘He’s gorgeous,’ I said to Elara, in response to Sienna’s last words ‘And that’s going to get me into a whole world of trouble.’
