We Became One

When I wake up I'm very confused about where I am. It takes a moment before I remember Cadence was massaging my back and shoulders. Sitting up, I wait a couple seconds for my eyes to adjust. When they do I see my beautiful mate asleep on the floor.

"Tony?" I jump. I had no idea Cadence and I weren't alone.

Diego should have known instantly that there was someone else here. Come to think of it he doesn't actually seem concerned at all. That means our guest isn't a threat. She sighs and then it finally hits me.

"Moon Goddess, what are you doing here?"

"I'm worried about you my darling. Cadence is everything you need and want in the world but you haven't completed the bond".

I sigh, "I still feel like she could do better than me. If I hadn't come back I think she would be with André right now... safe and happy... with him." I trail off.

She strides over to me, grabs my chin in her very strong hand and forces me to look in to her uniquely coloured eyes.

"Cadence loves you. She always has, you know that so stop being an idiot and make her yours." she releases me and Cadence stirs.

"You deserve her Tony. You know what's true deep down".

"If we do this, we'll be ok?"

"You have a wonderful life ahead of you. It will take a bit of time to get to it but you'll have everything you hope to have if you finally choose to complete your bond. It's the first step to the rest of your lives".

She hugs me before she disappears before my eyes. The first thing I do is go pick up Cadence from off the floor. I carry her to our room and place her gently on the bed then crawl in behind her. Her body melts into mine immediately seeking comfort in our proximity.

"Mm" she turns to face me, "I love you".

Cadence cups my cheek in her hand and pecks the tip of my nose, my chin, both cheeks and finally my lips. It's now or never. I need to complete the bond with her before I lose my nerve.

I slide my hand over the curve of her hip taking the fabric of her shirt with me as I go. My beautiful mate sits up as her shirt rises with my touch. Once removed she lies back placing one hand on my shoulder and the other under my chin so I'll look at her.

"You're sure you want to do this?"

Yes, I want to bind myself to you for eternity. I just wish I could say it out loud. I know if I tried no sound would come out so I pull her lips to mine in a deep, desperate kiss... hoping that it's screaming how I feel for her.

"Antonio... please".

She slips the middle and ring fingers of both hands in the waist of her shorts and seductively removes them. If I wasn't a goner already I would be now.

Cadence slides a leg over me so she's straddling my hips.

"There is something wrong here." she says as she fiddles with the button of my pants. I pull her forward so I can work myself out of my jeans and she takes the opportunity to nibble my earlobe.

"You're really ready?"

"I am. I have to stop taking one step forward and two back. I'm sorry Cadence but I'm ready to finally be yours in every way".

I tuck a stand of hair behind her ear and sit up to kiss her. I place my hands on her waist for a moment before she moves them lower. Cadence slides back until she feels my hard shaft against her molten core.

"Tony, yes" she gasps, like she can hardly believe we're so close.

Without missing a beat she reaches around and guides me inside.

"Cadence" I moan.

"Mmhm" she hums.

"I'm so sorry baby, I love you".

We rock our hips together enjoying finally being one. Unlike at the beginning it's not frantic, now it's just two bear shifters finally coming together to become whole.

I slow my thrusts right down. It's torture for her but it's been a while and I want this to last. I've been putting it off so long I want her to know I worship her.

Cadence isn't happy about it and tries to take control, I can't have that so I flip her on to her back and get up on my knees.

"Oh!" she screams in surprise.

I swing her legs over my shoulders and get nice and deep. She cries out with each roll of my hips, clawing and scratching at my arms.

"Goddess, you're beautiful".

"Tony... I'm so close, I can't hold back anymore".

"Fuck, ok Cadence".

I bring her legs down and pull her up onto my lap. I feel her walls gripping tighter not wanting to let me go. If I was man enough I'd admit I was seconds away myself but I'm not, so I won't.

"Tony!" she cries, "Now, please Tony".

We bite into each other leaving our marks, tying our souls for eternity. She is mine and I am hers.

Cadence cried out again as our bond was completed, she's flushed all over. Fuck, she's so perfect, I hope I never forget how amazing she looked and felt the moment our bond was sealed. I wish I could photograph her but I'll have to settle for my memory.

Our bodies quake in the aftershocks of our release. By now I've rolled on to my back, Cadence on top of me playing with some of my chest hair.

"I've never felt this good" she says shattering the silence.

"I haven't either. I haven't felt this at peace since before Angel and Gabriel died".

She smiles up at me, I kiss her forehead before turning on to my side. It's been a bit of a day and I just want to sleep with my amazing mate wrapped in my arms.

"Tony?"

"Mm?"

"Good night".

I chuckle, "Good night baby".

I kiss her cheek and pull her as close as possible. Diego is so at peace right now so I need to enjoy this bliss.

Cadence and I are both off today so I'm not surprised when I wake up and the clock says it's ten in the morning. I am a little disappointed I don't hear Cadence in the house.

When I get to the stairs I can hear her talking to someone on the phone. If I had to guess it's probably Rayne. Her and André are coming down to visit next weekend and are staying for the week.

I open the door to the deck and make my way over to Cadence wrapping my arms around her.

"Rayne! You know I'd never tell you that".

Cadence puts the phone on speaker.

"Cade, I need to know. How big is he?"

"Do I want want to know who you're referring to?" I ask amused.

"Oh Hi Tony!" Rayne says over enthusiastically.

Cadence bursts into giggles so I'm right in assuming me.

"If you want to know so bad you can always walk in on me in the shower".

They both lose it, when we were in school Rayne accidentally went into the wrong change room. She'd ended up walking in on Gabriel and some of his classmates in the shower. She was always remembered for it.

I roll my eyes and head inside where Cadence has breakfast sitting on the table. A few minutes later she comes inside and joins me.

"Was last night real?"

"Yes it was".

"Thank the Goddess. I was thinking it was a dream, but the bond feels so much stronger now".

"Yes it does. Do you have any idea what you'd like to do today?"

"Can we go back to bed and cuddle?"

"If that's what you really desire then I'm sure I'll find a way to cope".

She swats my arm and giggles. I'm so happy she's smiling. She looked so sad for so long because of me so I'm glad to be the reason she's finally happy.

"You're so beautiful when you smile. I'm sorry I took so many nights of this away from you".

The week seems to fly by and before I know it, Rayne and André are here. Maybe it was because of all the amazing sex we've been having but now that we have guests I wish we had a sound proof place. We actually got a complaint from our neighbour the other day for being too loud... Oops.

"Tony, Cadence, I am so happy for you... But I have bad news".

André looks at her, "what do you mean you have bad news? You never told me about bad news".

"That's because we needed to be here to help. I heard your dad talking to one of the customers at the hardware store... Who's also a former police officer. Your dad knows you're here and he's coming for you".

"No... We just found this place. Getting out of this lease will be hard and we don't have anywhere to go." My hear breaks seeing the anguish on my mates face.

"Why didn't you tell us on the phone?" I question.

"Because you and Cade bonded and I didn't want to ruin that. I figured since we were already coming down we could help you pack and get out of here".

A tear falls from Cadence's eye, "I'm sorry Tony. He's never going to stop".

Randy didn't. He burned the place to the ground. Thankfully nobody was hurt and Cadence and I, with the help of André and Rayne, were a day away when he arrived. It was a little too close for comfort. For the next year we lived in shitty hotel's used fake names and tried to stay off the radar.

Then Cadence found out she was pregnant. It wasn't planned and I was not ready to have to drag our cub into this goddamn mess but it was too late. He or she was going to be born on the run from his or her grandfather.

We were able to get word to her brothers that we were ok and tell them they were going to be uncles. They were very happy for us and said we'd have to send a lot of pictures and video call whenever possible so they could know their niece or nephew.

Cadence saw some doctors while we were on the run but it was hard to get in on short notice. So we made do with clinics. I felt bad she wasn't getting the care she needed because she chose a life with me. I actually thought about leaving them but I didn't want to hurt her like that, not after she gave up everything to be with me.

One day while we were in British Columbia we ran into a wolf Beta. He invited us to stay with his pack for a while so we could make sure the cub was ok and so we could properly hibernate. He saw the exhaustion all over Cadence and took pity on us.

He even had some of the warriors he was with drive our truck to their lands so we could rest. Randy was always close and after a year we were absolutely exhausted.

Once there Cadence and I hibernated for a couple of months. We woke up only when Cadence went into labour. I contacted the pack and they sent a car down so she could have our cub in the infirmary. The Alpha had wanted to speak to us anyway. He said Randy had started poking his nose around trying to find us but they had told him they saw us but heard we were going north and crossing the border to Alaska. Even Randy knows you don't mess with Alaska.

I contacted Griff and Leon and they said Randy was home for now since we were hiding with the filthy wolves. Apparently his hatred is more wide spread than I thought.

We stayed with the wolf pack for a couple of months to get on a routine with Gabriel and so Cadence could rest. After that I decided we'd petition wolf packs for sanctuary for a few months at a time and hide out that way. Most were great but some were not.

There were whispers of a wolf Alpha named Les Locke causing problems and trying to take over. He apparently runs the largest pack in North America so he believes he should become the head of all the packs in North America.

I heard a lot of rumours for years about him. But after three years I heard the struggle was over and it was Les' own son that had ended his rein of terror. I found out the pack name and Cadence and I petitioned to live in his new pack. Him and his two mates became wolf Royalty and no bear in his right or fucked up mind would mess with a King, let alone two and a Queen.

We waited a couple of months for a reply but it was good news. They had approved the petition and even had a cabin for us near a cave we could use. Now all I needed was a job in the city, which sadly was a bit far to drive everyday but we'd figure it out. We had to this was my chance to keep my family safe.

Now we pack up our stuff from this pack and hopefully get to make a permanent home in this new one.
