Chapter 0028 

Over the last four years, Kendrick had been searching for news about Samantha. He wasn’t sure if it was because of stubbornness, or if he was worried about her. 

But upon learning that she had passed away, Kendrick’s heart ached. He remembered that day four years ago. A man had used Samantha’s phone to call 

him. 

He wondered if things would have turned out differently if he hadn’t hung up. He contemplated if Samantha would still be alive if he had. 

Kendrick’s heart shivered as he felt it hurting. He subconsciously recalled Sophia’s pitiful look in the bathroom. 

“Turn around. Go back,” Kendrick instructed suddenly. 

Jude and the driver were stunned, but they soon reacted. The Maybach was instantly turned around as it drove toward Ford Corporation.. 

Kendrick felt slightly anxious. He was also taken aback by his behavior. He couldn’t believe that he was worried about Sophia’s safety! He had never cared so much about women before! 

Still, he couldn’t help but think about Samantha. 

Sophia was drunk. Kendrick didn’t dare imagine if something happened to 

Sophia just because he ignored her. Samantha staggered out of the doors of Ford Corporation. She was only wearing an evening dress, so she couldn’t help shivering against the night wind. 

She had driven to the venue earlier, so she wasn’t cold then. 

Samantha was tipsy now. Of course, she dared not drive. She could only stand at the entrance as she waited for a taxi. 

But after waiting for a long time, no taxi ever showed up. Her face, previously red from the alcohol, was turning pale from the cold. 

There was a screech of brakes. A black Maybach pulled up in front of her. Samantha recognized it as Kendrick’s car. She didn’t know why he would return after leaving just now. 

Even from a distance away, Kendrick could see the figure standing at the entrance of the company. He was finally reassured. But that feeling was replaced with a little heartache and anger.

His heart ached for Samantha, who was standing in the chilly wind in such thin clothing. He was also mad that she didn’t know how to look after herself. 

“Get in the car,” Kendrick said in a low voice. His face was emotionless. 

Jude immediately got out of the car. Walking up to Samantha, he smiled as he said, “Ms. Meadows, please get in the car.” 

Samantha hugged her arms tightly in an attempt to keep herself warm. As she looked at the car in front of her, Samantha didn’t have the slightest intention to get in.

She still refused to be in the same space as Kendrick. She didn’t want that at all! 

“Ms. Meadows, it’s not easy to hail a ride at this hour. You should get in the car.” 

Jude didn’t mind Samantha’s attitude at all. From Kendrick’s behavior, he knew that the two didn’t end things well. So, he had already anticipated Samantha’s bad mood. 

Samantha pursed her l*ps. She didn’t say anything but hugged herself even tighter. 

She knew that Jude was telling the truth. She had been standing there for a while, but she never once saw a taxi. 

Her b*dy was turning stiff from the cold. But as soon as she thought about Kendrick’s behavior, Samantha no longer wanted to get into the car. 

“It’s okay.” 

It was another firm rejection. For a second, Jude felt a little troubled. He couldn’t help but glance into the car. 

The car was still there. Kendrick didn’t say another word. By the looks of it, he hadn’t changed his mind about giving Samantha a ride. 

Jude’s eyes looked conflicted. Eventually, he stepped forward. 

“Excuse me, Ms. Meadows.” 

“Hey, what are you doing… Let go of me…” 

Struggling, Samantha shouted. She didn’t think that Jude would approach her and drag her to the car. She staggered as Jude dragged her along. She almost tripped and fell. 

She finally exclaimed angrily, “Let go of me! I’ll get in the car!”

She thought Kendrick was a rogue and concluded that everyone around him was the same. 

Samantha cursed in her heart. She watched as Jude smilingly invited her into the car. He politely held the car door open for her. 

Samantha felt very upset, so she couldn’t be bothered to humor him. 

When she peered into the car, she was met with a pair of eyes that were foreboding.
