After a considerable time, Samantha was finally satisfied with the design drafts in front of her. 

Her eyes were a little strained, and they were tearing up. She couldn’t help but rub her eyes a little. When she looked up, she saw the clock on the wall showing 8:

She hadn’t realized that it had gotten that late. 

Samantha was stunned. 

She often lost herself in her work when she was designing something. It was usual for her to forget the time. 

It was already quite late. She was curious to know if Kendrick was still at the company. She wondered if he had gone home already, or if he had gone out to have some fun. 

After hesitating for a moment, Samantha called the president’s office. 

In the president’s office, Kendrick sat at the desk. He was reading the documents in his hands with a calm look on his face. When the phone rang, Kendrick immediately raised his head. There was a trace of eagerness in his hooded eyes. 

“Hello,” Kendrick said indifferently, and his tone was as calm as always. 

On the other end of the line, Samantha was a little surprised. She hadn’t expected Kendrick to be in the office at all. Samantha thought that he was quite diligent at work, as she was. It turned out that he didn’t spend every day having fun. 

Thinking that, Samantha cleared her throat slightly before speaking up. 

“Mr. Ford, I’ve already completed the initial design drafts. Please give me your email address so that I can send them to you.” 

After she emailed the drafts to Kendrick, Samantha figured that she could go home and spend some time with Nathan. 

If she returned at this hour, she should make it in time to give Nathan a bath and tell him a bedtime story. 

When Samantha thought of Nathan, she felt a little remorseful. 

Because of her, he was fatherless. She was unable to give him a complete family. Even now, she couldn’t spare a lot of time for him.

She couldn’t understand why Kendrick was behaving as though uttering another word would be the death of him. Despite that, Samantha immediately gathered the drafts and hurried to the president’s office. 

Her exquisite high heels clicked against the tiles, producing a rhythmic sound. It was effective in conveying the anxiety their owner was feeling. 

In the president’s office, Kendrick hung up and pushed the documents he was holding aside. He couldn’t help but guess what Samantha looked like right now. 

He had instructed her to deliver the design drafts to his office. He reckoned that she was probably upset about it. 

Kendrick’s l*ps curved subconsciously. Suddenly the phone he had left on the desk started ringing. 

Once he read the name displayed on the screen, his expression darkened. He rejected the call. 

At Ford Residence, extravagant dishes were laid out on the dining table. The food had turned a little cold. This scene was similar to that night four years ago. 

“Sorry, the number you have dialed cannot be reached at this moment 

Linda sat at the dining table, all dressed up. She gripped her phone tightly. As she listened to the mechanical female voice, her expression distorted a little. 

It was already 8:00 pm. 

Kendrick had agreed to have dinner with her yesterday. She spent the whole afternoon getting dolled up, and she arrived at Ford Residence before 6:00 pm. 

She waited for more than two hours, and yet she hadn’t caught a single sight of Kendrick. He hasn’t answered her calls either. So, Linda’s expression was extremely foul. 

“Ms. Snider, Mr. Ford must still be at work. He usually returns home very late at night.”
