That was the only excuse that Kendrick was able to come up with on the spot.
Inevitably, Linda was dissatisfied. Nevertheless, she didn’t dare to be overly headstrong in front of Kendrick.

“What are you thinking about, Ms. Meadows?” She heard Kendrick’s frigid voice calling out to her, and it interrupted her thoughts.
She looked up and realized that Linda had already left without her noticing.
Kendrick, on the other hand, was standing right in front of her.
She put on a smiley face instantly. She replied warmly, “What can I help you with, Mr. Ford?”
Kendrick had both his palms on the office desk.
He suddenly leaned forward and said, “I was saying that I have a lunch meeting at noon today. I want you to accompany me to that meeting.”
Samantha could feel his warm breath on her face. She blinked but didn’t back up.
She asked with curiosity, “Didn’t you say that Ms. Linda is going to be in charge of business dealings outside the office?”
“It’s her first day of work today. I don’t need her to attend to such matters.‘
Kendrick was satisfied to hear Samantha’s curious question.
It seemed like she wasn’t completely disinterested in what had happened.
After giving his instructions, Kendrick walked back to his desk. Then, he began to attend to his work earnestly.

He said, “I am going out at noon. Get Jude to bring you out for lunch.
“Damien will come over in the afternoon. Let him brief you about the situation with Ares. You will be involved in working with them in the future.”
Ares Corporation was a company under the Duncan family that had closed down.
It was then fully acquired by Kendrick and transformed. He had even changed the corporation’s name.
Samantha hung her head low. Hatred rose in her heart when she heard them talking about Ares.
It had been almost ten days since she started working as his secretary.
