When Kendrick noticed the look of admiration in Robert’s eyes, he couldn’t help but turn his gaze toward Robert’s secretary. 

He swallowed his words. Then, he pulled Samantha to sit by his side. 

“This is the head of our design department. She came out with me for work, then tagged along as it was almost time for our meeting. 

“I hope you don’t mind, Mr. Briggs?” 

“Not at all, not at all,” replied Robert. Even though he said he didn’t mind, Kendrick could tell that he was disappointed. 

Samantha wasn’t thick. She knew exactly what Robert meant. 

As she had Kendrick standing up for her, she was happy, pretending that she didn’t get what he meant. 

When Robert saw that they truly didn’t have any special intentions, he instructed his secretary, “Sylvia, go over and serve Mr. Ford.” 

It was as if Sylvia had long been waiting for him to give her this exact command. 

The moment he finished speaking, she was already strutting toward Kendrick. 

She planted herself next to him and said, “I’ve heard a lot about Please don’t be mad if I fall short in any way.”

Kendrick received the document that Samantha had previously prepared and

Kendrick could hear what he was hinting at, and he wasn’t intending to give in. He rose from his seat and got ready to leave. 

Much to Samantha’s surprise, Kendrick was so assertive when it came to business dealings. 

The servers had just served up a scrumptious–looking meal for all of them. 

Before they could come to an agreement, she had to leave along with him. 

While Kendrick went to get the bill from the server, Samantha stood outside and waited for him. 

Coincidentally, she spotted Conrad, whom she had met once before. 

Conrad saw her, too. He greeted her with a wave and a smile on his face. 

Samantha returned his greeting with an awkward smile. 

Then, she watched as he walked into the room where she had just walked out.

Samantha turned around and looked at him with a beaming smile. She didn’t tell him about her seeing Conrad. 

“I’ll bring you out for lunch. What do you feel like having?” Kendrick was unaffected by his business meeting earlier.
