On a quiet night, an unexpected cold wind swept through the alley.
The baby in the swaddle cried loudly. She could only wrap herself in heavy clothes.

She continued, “Is Nate with you?”
Francis handed the phone to the back seat where Nathan was.
Dropping the toy, Nathan cheerfully exclaimed, “Mommy!”
Nathan’s voice carried a hint of childishness, and Samantha’s suspended heart
finally settled. After a brief chat, she had to hang up. Nathan was about to head into
the kindergarten.
Samantha put down the phone to charge. Her mind was filled with scenes from her
memories.

With Kendrick’s approval, the woman hesitantly left while wearing a pained

“She was the former principal of the orphanage.”
