A huge dining table stuffed with different breakfast platters inside Bryan’s giant mansion was decorated neatly. Several maids were standing around the table, all bearing solemn expressions.
Bryan was seated next to the chair that belonged to his father, Alpha Ralph, the current alpha of the Rosewood pack, while stroking his butter knife on a toast. His father and mother were currently outside the town, so the remaining chairs were empty.
But right next to him Daphnia hurriedly came, decked up in a tight short skirt and a laced crop top, as if she willingly looked seductive like that. Walking up to the table, she first hugged Bryan and sat beside her, while taking a plate, “Good morning baby.”
Bryan stayed still with a serious expression on his face and didn’t even bother to answer her soft greeting. His brows frowned a bit deep as he asked her first, “Where did you go in the early morning? When I woke up, you weren’t next to me.”
Daphnia flinched a bit as she didn’t expect a direct confrontation from him like that. There was no way she could tell the truth that she went to confirm if Jasmine was really taken away or not by the Carpasian guards. So, she forged a smile and answered gently, “Aww, baby did you miss me early in the morning? I just went outside for a while to get some fresh air. You didn’t let me sleep for the whole night, but was it still not enough for you?”
Bryan still didn’t bother to answer her question and only darted a cold glance at her. Watching him completely quiet, Daphnia tried to uplift his mood a bit as she hugged his arm and pressed her soft b*dy against him while gazing keenly at him, “Baby, what happened, you seem kind of cold today.
Chapter II
“I was surprised when you suddenly bit my nape last night as I didn’t expect you to mark me on our first night. I am very happy that you chose me as your mate. But…is something bothering you today?”
At that moment, the senior butler slowly walked into the dining hall and Bryan eagerly lifted his gaze on him. He even yanked his arm away from her grasp and his sudden cold shoulder puzzled Daphnia.
“What’s the report?” Bryan narrowed his orbs on the butler, before asking in a heavy pitch.
However, the butler offered a humble bow at him and declaimed after a dry cough, “Young Master, just as your command, Miss Jasmine was taken away to the Carpasian territory in the early dawn.”
“And did you get any news from the castle?” Bryan sounded very eager in his tone which even startled both the butler and Daphnia.
Seeing his ardent gaze, the butler nervously shook his head in denial and mumbled, “Well, until now…I still haven’t received any news, Young Master.”
“But hasn’t you always received the news by now regarding the previous maidens sent from the Rosewood pack?” Furrowing his thick brows, Bryan scorned him, gritting his jaws in an irked manner. His tone sounded desperate when he grunted, “It’s already bright in the morning. By this time you had always given the news of those maidens‘ demise to my father! So…are you slacking off from your duties because he is presently out of the town?”
“Of course not, Young Master!” His cold grunt seemed to make him nervous as the senior–aged butler once again humbly bowed his head. “To be honest, it is strange this time. By now we had already received the news. about those maidens from our secret sources, but until now, I haven’t
received any news. So…maybe it is likely possible that Miss Jasmine would be alive by now-”

“How is that possible!!?” All of a sudden, Daphnia jolted up from her chair, almost screeching aloud at him before he could finish his sentence. Her face had turned pale and her eyes revolved anxiously as she muttered, “I mean…how can she be still alive? All the previous maidens sent from our pack were all killed by the lycan prince!”
“Daphnia, stop interrupting my conversation.” But Bryan ordered her in a cold voice, making an irked expression at her as if he was bothered by her meddling.
However, Daphnia gritted her teeth and rolled her anxious glare at Bryan, ignoring his command as she complained, “Bryan, what is wrong with you? Why are you bothered about that girl whom you sent away on your own decision? Besides, how is it fair to me? You marked me as your mate last night and here you are asking about that wolfless weak b*tch-”
“Okay, I said stop!!” Suddenly, Bryan stood up from his seat and grumbled aloud at her in front of everyone. His deep hoarse voice resonated as a strong echo inside the hall, flinching almost everyone present there. His eyes seemed fierce and dark with an angst look on his face as he scowled, “I can do whatever I want and I will never tolerate anyone bothering me, especially you, Daphnia!”
“But…we are paired as mates…” His grumpy scowl somehow made her teary as she felt low in witnessing his cold shoulder in front of everyone.
However, without showing any compassion, Bryan marched up to her and. peered a deep gaze into her tearful eyes as he gritted, “So what if I have. marked you? To be honest, I wasn’t even satisfied with the time we spent together last night!”
His words sounded very adamant while he grumbled blatantly aloud at her ignoring everyone’s presence around them. Moving a step closer, he peered his dark glare into her sad eyes as his voice turned hoarse, “Look, I detest clingy women so much, that’s why don’t get on my nerves, Daphnia. I am free to do whatever I want, and whatever women I choose to be with!

“Even if I have marked you, I can get rid of you easily as I wish, just like what you have witnessed yesterday. Do remember that you have no right to meddle in my life so don’t forget your boundaries! Understand?”
His dark threat was painful and humiliating for her to hear but the glare int his eyes was dangerous enough to scare her, as she couldn’t object him anymore. Just when she reluctantly gave a small nod, Bryan turned around towards the butler and grunted at him in a fierce voice, “Get me the report about Jasmine as quick as possible! I won’t tolerate any half- assed news from you, understand?”
“Yes, I understand it, Young Master.” The senior butler nervously nodded and everyone watched Bryan stomping his footsteps and walking out of the mansion. He didn’t even bother to glance once at Daphnia as she stood still, holding her tears and watching him leave.
Her jaws twitched in anger when the realization hit her that even after Jasmine had left, Bryan was unconsciously still pondering about her, even in those moments they spent together.
Just when he walked out, a young maidservant slowly walked close up to Daphnia. She seemed a bit fretful and pale from her expression, fidgeting hard. Clearing her throat, she mustered her courage to call her out, “Y- Young Miss, I have something important to say!”
