His cold words that sounded more like a diabolical threat paused Jasmine for a few seconds making her extremely nervous. Even though she impulsively shared her important birth secret with Lucian without giving it a second thought, she didn’t expect him to put a condition in return which could be anything fatal as well.
But being driven at the edge of life like this, at this point, Jasmine was desperate to do anything for her baby’s survival. She pursed her l*ps and exhaled a deep breath when he spoke, looking ardently into his dark eyes, “I will accept your condition, no matter what it is. And if I fail, I will also admit any punishment that you give me, Your Grace.”
“Beware of what are you asking for, because there won’t be any second. chance if you fail to prove your worth before me.” But a small devious smirk curved his sharp jawline as Lucian shrugged his shoulder, sounding pretty adamant from his tone while uttering.
“Even if you are intending to trick me, things won’t go your way if you fail. I suppose you must be already aware that none of the maidens who came here before you could survive my wrath….so…do you still want to go with. my condition?”
His raspy deep voice shuddered dreadful chills to crawl down her spine, making Jasmine covered in cold sweat. His words seemed more like walking over a thin line between life and death.
Realizing that Lucian had completely cornered her and there was no point in refusing him anymore, Jasmine gulped and mustered the remaining strength of her frail b*dy as her mind was only filled with the thoughts of her child’s survival.
“I didn’t lie to you about anything and yes, I would still like to prove my worth before you, Your Grace.” Her deep voice sounded resolute, echoing within the walls of the room.

Looking ardently into his mask–hidden face, she walked a step closer to him and sounded gallant, “But you must also know, the world is based on the policy of give and take.
“So, if I succeed in proving my worth, you will have to promise that you won’t harm me or the innocent child in my belly and will grant us your permission to stay here.” Without stuttering anymore, this time Jasmine. sounded confident in putting up her demand.
But as soon as she finished her sentence, Lucian stood still for a second, being taken aback by her resolute attitude even at that grave moment of danger.
When he wondered about the other maidens he encountered before Jasmine, just by gazing into her beautiful ocean eyes, he could feel the sincerity and devotion for her child in her deep pitch. In her comparison, the other maidens mostly cried, panicked, or begged for his mercy…which eventually triggered his anger to the greatest extent.
However, another thing about her that baffled him the most was that Jasmine’s eyes strangely reminded him of his late mother….as they looked exactly similar to hers since the first moment he saw them!
Lucian exhaled a deep sigh and with a small nod showed his acceptance of her condition. He marched a few more steps near her, keeping a gap of barely a few inches between them.
Their huge height difference made Jasmine appear like a small woman before him even though she was a modest tall woman from her pack. Her small stature in front of huge Lucian made him incline his face. downwards as he looked into her.
Without a word speaking, Lucian took off the half–black mask covering the left side of his face, including his left eyes, and met her gaze intently.
Jasmine’s gaze widened when she saw his fully revealed face, especially discovering the reason why he kept it hidden from everyone.

His left side had a vast scary red scar cutting vertically through his left eye, that had made his face appear somewhat hideous. The scar had evenly cut through his eye and the color of his left eyeball was completely white, making it seem like a blind eye, in comparison to his other beautiful black right eye.
Even bearing such a hideous scar, Lucian appeared nonetheless handsome from his dazzling appearance in her eyes. But somewhat Jasmine realized that living in this deformed state must have completely wrecked his self- confidence, making Lucian hide his left side with that black mask.
When Lucian removed the mask and looked into her eyes with a surly expression, he flinched for a second. He had somewhat expected a disgruntled reaction from her after he had exposed his hideous scar. But instead of that, Jasmine was staring into him much more tenderly than before. Instead of disgust, her eyes shimmered with compassion for him as if given a chance, she would be able to embrace him!
“Why…Why are you looking at me like that?” Confused at her reaction, Lucian couldn’t help but urge her, gritting his lower jaw.
But Jasmine exhaled a deep sigh and answered in a warm voice, “Is this why you kept your face hidden from everyone, Your Grace? It must have been… very suffocating all this time…right?”
“Are you looking down on me?” Her response somewhat made him. puzzled as the compassion in her voice was far beyond what he had expected from her.
But rather than getting nervous from his grunt, Jasmine moved another step near him, and staring intently into his face, she gave a soft smile, “I can understand you, Your Grace. It is indeed suffocating to live when the rest of your clan finds your existence repulsive. In fact, this is what I have faced in my pack, just because I wasn’t an ordinary female…like else.

“But…don’t fret anymore, I will heal you, Your Grace.”
Taken aback by her words, Lucian stood completely still as he gazed into. her gentle eyes. When Jasmine lifted up her soft palm and before she could touch the scarred side of his face, a part deep inside his chest. twitched and in panic, he suddenly grabbed her arm and sounded a bit restless, “Are you sure about that? If…you fail…you know what’s going to happen, right?”
“I know.” Jasmine unleashed her arm from his grasp and tossed a kind. smile at him before she gently placed her arm over his side face. Gazing intently into his anxious face, she murmured, “Even though this will be probably the very first time I will be using my power on someone as mighty and powerful as you….but I will believe in myself this time.
“No matter what happens, I will prove my worth before you.” The gentle smile slowly tainted from her face as she closed her eyes, rubbing her.
