1. The wedding is off

“Do you Beth James take Darren Hampton, Alpha of the Redmoon pack as your husband, in sickness and in health, for rich and for poor until death do you apart?” The priest asked me.

With a smile on my face, I replied, “Yes.”

Darren Hampton, newly crowned Alpha of the Redmoon pack and also my mate. I have always loved him, from the moment I set my eyes on him, I’ve always known he was the one, and the moon goddess had proven it.

The priest turned to Darren at that moment.

“Stop the wedding!” A feminine voice interrupted the process, getting the attention of everyone present in the garden.

I tilted my head towards the direction of the familiar feminine voice to see my Cara running towards us.

“Stop the wedding!” She voiced out again, coming closer.

I wondered what was going on in her mind and hoped that what she had to say better be worth it because not only had she interrupted my wedding but also disrespected everyone here.

“What’s going on Cara?” Darren asked inquisitively, a hint of worry laced in his voice.

Cara burst into tears. “You cannot marry her, you cannot,” she remarked.

The skin between my brows creased in confusion. What’s going on and what does she mean?

What made her think she could tell Darren what to do and he’d just do as she wanted? I was confused about the whole situation and I was boiling rage. Cara has never liked me. She constantly bullied me for being an omega. She didn’t deem me worthy of anything.

“Speak Cara, what’s going on?” Darren demanded.

“You cannot marry her Darren,” she pleaded in tears.

“What do you mean by that? speak up!” he demanded once again.

“You cannot marry her because I am pregnant for you.” She revealed.

I gasped in shock and my eyes widened in tears. This has gotten to be a lie. There is no way she was pregnant for him.

I convinced myself mentally while I stared at her frantically.

“I am carrying your baby Darren. I am six weeks pregnant for you,” she repeated and it felt as if someone dropped a bucket of cold water on me.

“Are you pregnant for me?” he asked her.

She nodded her head. “Yes, I am.”

“Oh, my goodness. I cannot believe this. This is good news!” he exclaimed in joy, taking me by surprise.

At that moment, nothing seems to make sense to me. Cara was pregnant and she was pregnant for my mate who turned out to be Darren. He doesn’t deny being the father and is excited about it which confirms that indeed he and Cara had something together.

“So please do not marry her. After all, you do not love her. I am the one you love. I am your one true love and now I’m carrying your child. The future heir of this pack,” she stated.

“What do you mean? How could you and what the hell is going on? He is mine and I will be the one to give him an heir so what do you mean by you are carrying his heir?” I questioned.

“Tell me it’s not true Darren. it’s not possible right?” I held into his arms demanding an answer.

Darren snatched his arms away from mine, taking me by surprise at the way he had done that.

“This wedding is over!” He stated in a stern and firm tone

I needed answers. what does he mean by that and how is he leaving with another when he should be leaving with me?

“What do you mean Darren? You can’t cancel the wedding!” I cried out.

Cara turned to look at me with a glare. “Are you daft or something? didn’t you hear him? he won’t be marrying an omega with a weak wolf like you so let go of him!” she chided.

“Darren, you can’t walk away without me. We just got married. I am your wife so what do you mean by all of this and how is she pregnant for you?” My eyes blurred with tears.

I didn’t understand anything. How was it possible that she was pregnant with Darren? He has always confessed to loving and wanting me alone so what was happening? Nothing seems to make sense.

Darren snatched his arms away from me again and I attempted to hold onto him. again, wanting an explanation but instead, he pushed me so hard that I lost my balance and fell, twisting my ankle in the process and I cried and put in pain.

“Are you daft or What? I already said there would be no wedding anymore and instead of you accepting, you are refusing.” he chided, taking me by surprise.

This wasn’t my Darren because he doesn’t look like him and the way he had spoken to me wasn’t the way Darren would.

“You should be grateful that I decided to give you a chance. I have never loved you, Beth. I can’t and I never will. I only wanted to marry you for a reason but you aren’t even worth it. you are weak, pathetic, and a loser so why would an Alpha like me marry someone with no background like you?” he spat on my face, emphasising his words and shattering my already shattered heart.

This was a bad dream because it didn’t feel real. His words were like needles, piercing through my heart and making it hard for me. me to breathe.

He intertwined his fingers with Cara. “She is the woman I’ve always loved. The one I want and not you.”

With that said he walked away with Cara, leaving me in shackles.

Just what happened and how did today which was supposed to be the best day of my life end up like this?
