I shouldn’t be online right now, Vaughn is sound asleep next to me after another hot session of loving making. I had gone to get some water when I decided to turn on my data only to find that Sweka has posted a photo on her status. I was going to ignore it but something in me makes my blood boil, why in God’s name would she be parading her back like that showing off her tattoo. When she told me she wanted to get one on top of her bum I had been against it because it didn’t sit well with me that people would be seeing it but she assured me that it was only for me. Over time I fell in love with it because each time we made love and was riding me in reverse looking at it turned me on but now here she is exposing it.

I am tempted to text her but then as what? I disappointed her, left her without an explanation and as it stands I don’t have any reason to try and correct her or how she is supposed to live her life.

‘You are up?’ Vaughn says yawning

I kiss her forehead.

‘I went to drink water and couldn’t sleep.’

‘I see.’

‘By the way, I meant to tell you. Dad is out in Siavonga and he went with your ex.’

‘What do you mean went with my ex? And can you please stop calling her that?’

‘She is the property manager and she is your ex.’

‘But why didn’t he go with another person?’

Vaughn eyes me before laughing.

‘You are jealous?’

‘I am not jealous.’

‘So what is this about?’

‘What?’

She laughs again

‘I wish you could see how you are getting yourself worked up right now, you even have beads of sweat on your forehead.’ She says still laughing

She stands up and walks to the doors leading to the balcony, she slides the glasses closed and comes back to bed.

‘Dad wouldn’t mess with that girl, even if he did it would be nothing serious. Mum would never allow for him to be with anyone else, he knows what is good for him.’

I swallow hard, I don’t know why I but I feel like I need to warn Sweka.

Vaughn falls back asleep and I tip toe to the bathroom so that I don’t wake her up, I dial Sweka’s number and hope that she picks up.

I dial a second time and again she doesn’t pick up, I shouldn’t even be feeling like this but it’s bugging me that she is not picking up. After posting that photo and then learning that she is with VK is making me uncomfortable. I remember the heart to heart I had with him the day before he gave his daughter away, he is a very good man and I have always admired him and secretly I have believed that Samara was a fool for letting go of such a man.

I try again for a third time.

I look at my ringing phone, this is the third time that Nelson is trying to reach me. It’s 10PM and I don’t understand he is not busy with his wife right now. Just the like the two last times VK looks at my ringing phone as Nelson’s name pops on the screen. This is getting really uncomfortable.

‘Maybe you should take it.’ He suggests

I pick up and put it on speaker, I don’t know why I feel like I should be proving myself to VK that there is nothing between Nelson and I. I don’t want him thinking that I am still hurting over him and trying to ruin his daughter’s marriage even before it begins.

‘And you have finally picked up.’ He says sounding mad

‘Why are you calling me at this hour?’

‘When did it become a problem to call you at this hour? Are you in his arms right now?’

‘Excuse me?’

‘Are you in VK’s arms?’

‘Nelson!’ I exclaim whilst looking at VK

‘Don’t you dare Nelson me, out there exposing your back and your tattoo. Is this your idea of getting back at me? By using an old man who is old enough to be your father?’

I regret putting him on speaker but it is too late to do anything now.

‘Guess what, Vaughn knows the type of man his father is. He will just use you and when done he will probably fire you.’

‘Do me a favor, never call my line again.’ I say cutting it before he says anything else.

VK looks at me really hard.

‘Is that what you too think of me?’

‘What?’

‘You think I would use you and then fire you?’

‘To begin with I never thought of the possibility of you and I.’

‘Why not?’

I am taken aback.

‘You are my boss, your daughter is married to my ex and you are almost the same age as my father. There is no way that I would start thinking of the possibility of you and I.’

‘I see.’

‘Am I missing something?’

‘Let us enjoy the night Sweka.’

‘Don’t call me that.’

‘Because only Nelson would call you that name?’

I nod my head without saying a word.

‘Let us just enjoy the night.’ He says

Our food is brought and we dig right into it, both of us silent.

‘And that tattoo is amazing, don’t be scared of flaunting it.’ He says making me choke on my head

He just smiles whilst passing me some water.

‘I want to apologize for Nelson’s choice of words but he is a bum and I hope he drowns in whatever Ocean close to him.’

VK laughs, so hard it’s a beautiful sight to look at.

‘Tomorrow is Saturday, and you only report for work on Monday.’

‘Yes?’

‘With your permission, allow me to treat you like a lady.’

‘VK.’

‘Remember at this point I am just VK and you are Kasweka.’

‘Woo me.’ I say my eyes dancing with mischief
