Power Awakens
Chapter 33

It had entered this world five hundred years ago when a microscopic fluctuation of the Gateway allowed it to get a foothold. A form of intelligence many times greater than a human, it had spent hundreds of years in the lands of the Bhagwati, feasting off the incredibly fertile lands. The feeding frenzy had taken it, and it had nearly become undone, only the feeding frenzy could harm it on this plane of existence. It had almost been beyond reclamation when it finally came to its senses. Many creatures had tried to harm it, some with what it now knew to be Majee, some with more physical means. None had left any impression.

Over the years it had learned to absorb information before feeding fully and it had decided that it was now time to change. Usually time meant nothing to the creature as it had ‘lived’ for thousands of years, but it too had a cycle and it’s awareness of the cycle had been awakened when the generation upon generation of bloodline changes showed an increasingly strong aura of the conflagration. This had continued to invade the creature’s awareness, turning it from its feeding frenzy.

When it had first arrived on this world the creature resided in a beautiful oasis, but it was now a desert extending thousands of leagues, just empty sand totally devoid of all life. When it sensed the growing lifeblood of the conflagration, it had started to move. The desert was growing steadily year-by-year as was the creature’s design. The vast amount of information it had gained through feeding, had informed the creature of how to thrive on this planet. The appearance of the conflagration gave it cause to spend precious energy in reforming its external structure. This had taken almost two years to complete, but time meant nothing to the creature.

In line with the expectations of the life forms of this planet, the creature had named itself. Lazrael, in the local language it meant ‘the angel of death’, very appropriate. Now years after Lazrael had made it’s first move on the new plan, things were finally starting to fall into place. The conflagration point was maturing, and life-energy increasing, even though there was some form of distortion over the aura like looking through a muddy glass window. Lazrael knew it had to resist the desire to travel the three thousand leagues and devour this energy. The cycle had come and it could not be ignored, the conflagration was vital for the cycle to be complete.
