Chapter 2 

On the day of the wedding, a week later. 

Because the groom was sick and crippled and had no power or influence, the Clarke family naturally wouldn’t make a big fuss about it. 

Elizabeth was originally a daughter who quietly returned. The Clarke family wouldn’t lose face if no one knew about it. 

In the bedroom, Kaida held Elizabeth’s hand in feigned kindness, saying, “I’m sorry for what happened to you these years, causing you to suffer and wander outside. We finally found you, but because of the engagement we had earlier, you had to marry such a person. But Liz, you need to understand your father. He loves his parents so much and can’t bear to go against the elders‘ wishes.” 

She said she was sorry but couldn’t bear to hire a makeup artist for the bride. It was noted that even the wedding dress was rented.

As soon as the door closed, Katherine put away her smile and sneered at Elizabeth, “How does it feel to be marrying a crippled and sick person? Elizabeth, your mother is not a match for my mother, nor are you for me. I will always step on you and make you bark like a dog.” 

Elizabeth applied some lip glaze on her lips without raising her eyelids. “There is indeed a dog barking.”

“I don’t know if he will back me up, but Dad will definitely feel embarrassed.” Elizabeth retracted her gaze. “You have played the good daughter in front of him for more than 20 years. Are you sure you want to expose your true nature today?” Katherine looked at her face, which was stunningly beautiful with just a little bit of makeup, and felt a deep hatred. “This woman had a seductive appearance, just like her mother,” she cursed inwardly. 

“It’s almost time to sei off.” Richard Clarke pushed the door in with Kaida. 

Elizabeth looked up and smiled obediently, “Okay.” 

There was no wedding banquet, no ceremony, and the groom didn’t even have someone to pick up the bride. 

The driver sent Elizabeth to the Hayes family, and a servant took her into the bedroom. 

The room’s lights were not turned on, and the heavy curtains blocked the outside light. After closing her eyes briefly, Elizabeth adapted to the darkness and saw a figure bulging on the big bed in the room. 

That person should be her newly–married husband, the groom who did not even show his face from beginning to end. 

Thinking of the rumors about him being crippled, Elizabeth took the initiative to walk over. “Hello, I’m Elizabeth Clarke, the one who married you today.” 

As she spoke, she reached out to grab his wrist.

Chapter 2

Elizabeth was left speechless by his words. 

Hearing the voice, she widened her eyes in the darkness and said, “It’s you…” 

“It’s me.” 

A wave of anger surged up from her heart and instantly filled her limbs. 

“So, when I introduced myself in that private room in Skygrace, he already knew I was his future wife. No wonder he said we would meet again soon,” Elizabeth said inwardly. 

“You…” 

“Shh… A finger was placed on Elizabeth’s soft lips. The man whispered, “Don’t talk. Cooperate with me.” 

Elizabeth’s eyes widened. “What was his hand doing?” she wondered. 

“You bastard, stop it. Her tone was angry and anxious, but her soft voice did not seem to be angry but somewhat coquettish. 

At this moment, a man was tightly attached to the door like a gecko outside the room, trying hard to hear the sound inside 

the room. 

The housekeeper looked embarrassed and said, “Mr. Hayes, this is not good. Let’s go back…” 

“Shut up, keep your voice down. If you affect them making babies for the Hayes family, see how I can deal with you.” 

The voices outside were very quiet, but the space was too quiet, and Elizabeth could still hear them. Her face turned red. almost instantly. 

Although Andrew Hayes couldn’t see it, he could feel Elizabeth’s sudden surge of heat. She was really a shy little girl, completely different from the one who threatened people with a machete that day.

Her voice burst through the door and delighted Benjamin Hayes outside, making him smile from ear to ear.
