Chapter 11

Enejru

I sit in my bathroom feeling empty and defeated. I haven’t left at all today and I locked the door to ensure no would come in. Dried blood stains most of the tile floor and my clothing. I look like a murder right now, but the only person who’s dead is me. I want to fade away so badly, to just die here and now, but not wake up alive again. I don’t want to be here, but I’m trapped. My head snaps around as I hear banging from the front door. I know it’s Jake and I know he’s worried, but it’s better this way. This way he can go back to his life and I can just dream about going back to mine. Besides, soon he’ll realize what trash I am and go back to the way he was treating me. Also, this allows me to comply with what that human wants. Since he wants me locked away I’ll lock myself away. I’ll stay in here starve and suffer. And when finally someone opens that door maybe I’ll be blessed enough to just be dust.

Jake

I pound my fist against the door screaming for Enjeru to come out. I know she’s in there I can sense her, but she's managed to put a barrier up that no one can unlock. Even Micah was forced to try, but couldn’t. She’s been in there for 24 hours now and shows no signs of coming out. No one else is worried of course, but me. Well, Alice did stop by to check up on my progress, but she didn’t stay long.

“Jake come on we need to go we have a mission.” Micah sighs while shaking his head.

He has not been supportive in the efforts to break the spell. In fact all he’s done all day today is bitch and moan about how I need to leave Enjeru alone.

“I’m not leaving without her.”

“You are and will leave without her, that’s an order.”

“Well I’m not following it.”

“Unless you want to be locked up and charged with treason I suggest you move your ass to the front entrance.”

“You think that scares me? I’m an immortal Micah I have nothing to fear.”

“Fine if I can’t threaten you I’ll do you one better. Guards!!!”

Men push past us and walk up to Enjeru door. With one swift Kick the door comes down. And they all run in.

“NOO!!!!! LET ME GO!!!! PLEASE LET ME GO!!!!”

I rush forward but more guards grab me as Enjeru is dragged out of her room kicking and screaming.

“Micah STOP!!!!!”

“No since you can’t follow orders she’ll suffer the consequences.”

“MICAH STOP I’LL COME JUST STOP THIS MADNESS!!!”

I watch him smirk an evil glint in his eyes. He snaps his fingers and she’s dropped on the floor. Enjeru crawls over to the nearest wall wrapping her arms around herself tightly. She’s shaking and I can see the bloody tears dropping to the ground. She looks pitiful, no miserable.

“Come along Jake we have a lot of work to do.”

Micah turns his back and the guards follow. I pull myself up and take a step towards Enjeru, but she flinches.

“Please just leave me alone.” She whispers.

I want to hold her to tell her everything is going to be okay that I’ll protect her but I’ll I’ve seem to done is hurt her. I turn away following Micah and the guards knowing that I can’t help Enjeru escape this nightmare.
