Chapter 29 

JANE 

I opened my eyes slowly when I didn’t hear anything from Cecelia, wondering if she was still there. Her eyes widened, her mouth slightly opened, she was still in shock from what I said. 

“Cecelia,” I nudged her and she shook her head, jolting back from wherever she went. 

“What are you talking about? I thought you said you had feelings for John?” She asked and I nodded in 

response. 

“I do. But strangely, I can’t let go of Damien from my mind. I find myself constantly thinking of him, especially when I think of my kids. I wonder if he is doing well, if he has eaten, if his wife is treating him well, “I confessed. 

Jane,” she called out. 

I know it’s very wrong of me to do that, but I just can’t stop it. I don’t plan on getting back with him, after all, he is married, but I still find it hard to stop thinking about him, I continued. 

And John doesn’t know about it?” She asked and I shook my head. 

That’s the point here. I don’t want to lose John either. Why I still have feelings for Damien was because I didn’t break off the bond between the both of us, so the little link that is left between us is what is working, making me miss him, “I admitted. 

“What do you plan on doing now?” She asked. 

The only way I can solve this is by going back to the pack to reject him and break off the bond completely, but I can’t do that in this situation. I don’t want him to find out about my pregnancy and besides, I might go into labor any time from now. I cannot also leave my kids and travel just to go reject him after I have given birth, I also have 

to work,” 

“That’s why I am asking what you plan on doing. Are you going to leave it that way and accept to date John? Or will you find an alternative?” She asked again, getting impatient. 

“I don’t think it’s right for me to date John while having feelings for another man and I cannot leave John. He has done a lot for me already and that last thing I would use to pay him back is by betraying him. I am very

confused here, it’s like I’m torn up in the middle, “I admitted and she exhaled loudly. 

“Why don’t you tell John? Explain everything to him just like you have told me,” she suggested, but I shook my head instantly. 

That can never happen, ” I stated. “He is already having doubts about my feelings for him, so your suggestion is way out of the picture. He promised to take responsibility for my kids, Cecelia, what lady would miss that opportunity because of an unwanted feeling?” I asked. 

“True, it isn’t right for him to know about it. He would be annoyed to find out about that,” she agreed with him and I nodded. 

The last thing I wanted was to lose John, especially since I liked him and I knew he liked me too. 

Stanley is calling for me,” Cecelia said, standing up from the sofa. “I think of a better suggestion and come back later,” she assured and left the room after I had thanked her. 

I heaved out a sigh of distress, rubbing my temple as I went to sit on my bed. Everything was being so difficult for me, from the very day that Damien rejected me. 

I didn’t know anymore if my coming to the Greenwood Pack was a blessing or more problems for me. 

All of a sudden, my phone began to ring and I picked the call and placed the phone on my ear without looking at the caller ID. 

Hello,” I spoke out. 

“Hello?” I heard his voice and I froze.” Jane?” I heard again and it was confirmed, Damien was calling me. 

I immediately cut the call and kept my phone on the bed as my heart began to beat rapidly. 

What the hell was this? Why was Damien calling me, in this situation, to be exact? He was the one who didn’t want to hear my voice again, so why did he call first? 

I had so much on my plate right now with my upcoming delivery and John, the last thing I wanted was for Damien to add to my problems. 

The phone began to ring again and I ignored it, but it kept ringing. I took in deep breaths, closing my eyes for a moment before deciding to pick the call.

“Jane,” he called out. 

“Damien,” I replied, choosing not to say anything else. He was the one that called after all, so I had the upper hand here. 

How are you doing?” He asked and I rolled my eyes. As if he was that concerned. 

What do you want, Damien? Or should I say it’s a pleasure speaking with you after five months?” I replied, sarcasm evident in my voice. 

I just wanted to speak with you, check up on you and ask how you were doing,” he answered and at first, I stifled a laugh, but I ended up erupting into laughter, finding what he said so funny.

I threw my phone on the bed, panting heavily as I had strained myself so much from talking with him. 

A knock was heard on the door and I came down from the bed and walked to open the door, John coming to 

view. 

“It’s time for your check up with the doctor, ” get informed.
