I quickly changed my clothes and went out of the house, entering into the car as John was waiting for me. Without saying anything, he started the car and drove out of the compound, entering the streets. 

Several thoughts ran through my head as I thought of Damien’s call earlier. I didn’t understand why he called me, it wasn’t like we had anything to discuss. 

It came to me as a surprise though, for him to call me. When we were still mates, he only did that if he had something very serious to discuss with me, and I doubt that what we talked about was a very serious thing. 

I pondered over whether to tell John about the call or not, but I decided not to. I owe nobody an explanation, it wasn’t like I was going back to Damien anyway. 

But, what if he was feeling the same way as me? That could be a possibility, after all, he said he wanted to check up on me. 

But, that didn’t mean anything, I wasn’t going to be swayed by those petty thoughts. He was married, he had a wife already, he shouldn’t be calling me. 

And he rejected me, there was no way he would be worried about my welfare.

But, what if it is really true? What am I going to do, then? 

It can never be true. It was over between the both of us, even if he had any lingering feelings, then he should bear with it, just like how I was doing too.

Jane,” he called out, glancing at me before looking back at the road and I faced him. It was really uncomfortable, I could literally feel the tension in the air, but we had to settle our differences, right? 

“Look, I’m really sorry for what happened in my room earlier. Almost everything was my fault and I admit to my mistake. I’m sorry for eavesdropping on your conversation with Stanley, it was so rude of me, especially when I know you don’t like it, I’m sorry,” he apologized and mentally cooed.

This was it, the perfect man I was talking about? Though he had his own flaws, he still knew how to apologize and admit his wrongdoings. 

“It’s……“I was about to talk, but he beat me to it, shutting me up. 

“I’m also sorry for stressing you out by making you angry, it’s dangerous for your health and the babies too. Also, about the kiss…….” He paused for a while and I shifted uncomfortably on the seat. I didn’t think it was necessary to bring up that topic. 

“Even though I don’t regret what I did, I’m sorry about that too. It was uncalled for and highly inappropriate for me to kiss you without your permission and make you feel uncomfortable around me. It won’t happen again, 

he assured me and I snorted. 

“What makes you think I don’t want it again?” I blurted out, becoming bold all of a sudden and his head snapped to my direction. 

Huh?” He asked and I smiled sheepishly at him. 

Hmm. I like you, so what makes you think I won’t want you to kiss me?” I asked, enjoying the fact that I caught him off guard. 

But, I thought……” I shut him up with a wave of my hands. 

“Yes, I admit, it was uncomfortable and weird because that was the first time it happened, but I like it, so what made you think I don’t want a kiss from you?” I continued, having fun as amusement washed over me. 

“You said you weren’t interested in a relationship for now,” he pointed out and I hummed in response.

I agree to that, but,l never said that I didn’t want a kiss, right? Are you sure you didn’t mistook my intentions?” I teased. 

“Then, why did you run away?“. 

because I was flustered. Like I said earlier, it was my first kiss with you and I definitely wasn’t expecting that, so I broke it off and ran away,” I answered with a shrug. 

Wow! You’re more blunt than I thought,” he commented and I flipped my hair.

We came down from the car and he held me while we walked inside, straight to the doctor’s office.

“We came for the appointment,” John said after all the necessary greetings had been made. 

“I was going to send the results of the test we conducted to you, but since you’re here, I’ll give it to you now, she said, handing over a chart to him, which he collected and read the contents. 

Miss Jane is due to deliver any time from now, her waters could break anytime, so you all have to be vigilant, watchful and careful. Also, she is pregnant for an Alpha, which means that her pups are carrying the Alpha blood and they are twins as well. Since she has no wolf, it would be a little bit difficult for her to deliver easily as the pups would want energy from her core, but she has none to give to them,” she started explaining and my heart began beating rapidly. 

What was she trying to say? Is my life in danger? 

“So, w–will I die from childbirth? “I asked, stuttering in fear and she hesitated for a moment before nodding her head. 

There is every possibility of that happening,” she answered and my shoulders dropped.
