Ch 12

Misty pov

I knew that at some point this day would come. That at some point he would probably notice and question. He would always come around and hide in the shadows thinking that I never saw him. I could feel him though and knew he was watching her. I had a feeling that deep down he knew that she was his. I had always hoped the position would never go to her because he would then come after her.

I bet when he attacked them he was in shock to see his daughter had in fact inherited the position. How do you come back from that? I wonder if that’s why he ran. He had come to kill his own daughter. But if that was the case why would he send Raston to do it before she even had the position? It doesn’t make any sense, but maybe he can enlighten me.

I see him motion for everyone on his side to stay because he knows that I can easily protect myself still. When I start to make my way closer I catch his scent and all the emotions start flooding back. The moment he stops and stands in front of me I just look up at him with tears rolling down my face. I loved this man more than anything and wanted the best for him. But it wasn’t good enough.

“Please Misty don’t do this. You know I always loved you more than anything but I had a job to do once I didn’t get the Alpha position. Never did I think it would have put me on a path to fight you or even have to kill you. You have to believe me!”

“Baphomet, I told you I didn’t care if you had the Alpha position or not. I didn’t want that pressure on either of us. Except when you left I knew you had chosen the position over us, and knew you would never be back.”

“So It’s true then. She is mine. Why didn’t you ever say anything?”

“Would you have changed your mind, and come back.”

“Misty you know I couldn’t come back. Especially after I made my decision.”

“Then you have your answer. You were so set on having the position over me and our pup. And now what? You have a duty again to kill her to try and get to the Alpha position again.”

“Misty I didn’t know that she would be the Luna or the one I was supposed to come after to try and end.”

“So then you sent Raston?”

“NO! I didn’t send that idiot. I had no idea he even went after her until it was already done. That was before I even knew if she was going to be a threat. Then when it was found out that she was his mate my heart dropped. I made him reject her so she could have a shot at having a normal life. But when I saw she was mated to Alpha Tarnac, I thought she would still be fine. I had no clue she would inherit the position and be the keeper of life until I attacked that night. That’s why I ran away. I had to try and comprehend on what to do now that I know my own daughter is the one I’m supposed to kill.”

“You don’t have to do this! You can still change! She is your daughter and yet you are still going to go after her and kill her.”

“Misty, what am I supposed to do? I need time to think about this!”

“What is there to think about? She is your daughter! She is your flesh and blood!”

“Look, I know I may be the asshole right now. Just give me some time. I’m at a loss right now. I can’t even think straight. Does she even know who I am?”

“No she doesn’t.”

“You never even told her about me?”

“What was I going to say? The creepy guy in the forest that keeps watching you is your father. The same one that left your mom pregnant then tried to kill her.”

I watch him just stare at me in shock. Almost like that deer in the headlights look.

“Don’t think I never saw you! I ignored you and pretended you weren’t there.”

“Why Misty? Why did you not say anything?”

“Because I still loved you! Even after everything I still fucking loved you! Don’t you get it! You were my mate! The father to my pup! Because if I were to say anything I would be a mess, and I had a pup to raise!”

I just stare at him when I see his eyes start to water when he shakes his head quickly backing up.

“I need some time to think about everything Misty.”

“If you ever come near her to put even one finger on her, I swear on everything Baphomet you’ll have to go through me first.”

He just nods his head and backs up knowing I will make good on my word. I watch him walk away when I just stand there. I see him motion for everyone to go and right before he enters the forest I watch him look back at me one more time putting his hand on his heart. That is all I needed to see to know he still feels the same way about me also. There was always love there. That was never the issue. He let his pride get in the way which destroyed everything.

Once he disappears I walk back over to Tarnac and Trinity who are curious about what was said. I smile and explain he needs time to process everything, but until then get somewhere safe and get the Luna ceremony done. I watch them nod as they start to head to the car and drive to the cave. That’s the best place for them right now for the protection they need.

When I start walking to the pack house I feel a mind like trying to cut in and I know exactly who it is.

“Misty, please know I never stopped loving you and still love you with everything I have.”

“I know Baphomet, when you placed your hand on your heart I knew. But know that I mean what I say. I will protect her till the day I die.”

“I wouldn’t expect the mother of my child to do any less. Give me some time to think about everything.”
