Chapter 53

Chapter 53.

Emily’s POV.

I looked up, my heart beating rapidly. Kex’s expression was unreadable, his face like stone. I need to think of something.

“Kex, I think someone drugged me,” I said, forcing my voice to shake. Kex’s eyes. narrowed, his expression fierce.

“Emily,” he said, the name like a curse on his l*ps. “Who the hell are you?” His voice was. a low growl, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.

I looked from Kex to Nelly and Aisha, who both had sly smiles on their faces. My heart was pounding in my chest, my breath coming in short gasps.

“Emily,” Kex’s voice boomed, echoing in the room. I flinched, my b*dy tensing with fear. “For the last time,” he said, his voice low and dangerous, “who the hell are you?”

I swallowed hard, my throat dry and tight. I felt like I was drowning, suffocating under the weight of the question.

I stammered, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

I watched as Kex dragged a chair over and sat down, his feet tapping against the floor. His eyes blazed with fury, and I felt my palms grow sweaty.

“Look at me,” he commanded, his voice hard and unyielding.

My eyes met his, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. I had never seen him like this. before, so intense and focused, his entire being focused on me.

“Who are you?” he demanded, his voice shaking with rage. “Where the hell did you come from?”

I stammered, “I already told you, I’m your late beta’s sister. We’re from the Blue Moon pack.”

Kex stood up suddenly, causing the chair to clatter to the floor. Nelly placed a hand on his chest.

“Relax,” she soothed.

I rolled my eyes, annoyed by her attempts to pacify him. I wanted to hit her, to make her understand how furious I was.

“I’m trying to stay calm,” Kex said through gritted teeth, “but she’s not making it easy

Nelly placed a hand on his shoulder. “You need to relax,” she said, her voice soothing.

Kex ran his hands through his hair, his eyes fixed on me with disgust. I felt checks grow hot with shame and anger. I wanted to defend myself, to make him understand, but I couldn’t find the words.

He turned to Harry and said something I couldn’t hear. Harry took something from his pocket and handed it to Kex. Kex turned back to me, his eyes blazing with rage. He flung the object at me, and I caught it in my hands, looking down at it confused.

It was my diary, and it was unlocked. I reached up to my n*eck, feeling for the chain that held the key. It was there.

My mind reeled as the memories flooded back. I had seen Nelly in my room, but I hadn’t suspected anything. Aisha’s words echoed in my head, “She’s drunk.”

“Speak up, or has the cat got your tongue?” Kex roared, his voice filled with fury.

“Kex…..” I opened my mouth to speak, but he cut me off.

“It’s Alpha Kex to you,” he snapped, his eyes blazing.

I was taken aback. I had never heard him so angry, so commanding. I was at a loss for words, unsure of what to do. I didn’t want to upset him any further, but I also didn’t want to submit to his demands.

Kex raised his hand to his face, his fingers rubbing his temple. He seemed to be trying to keep his temper in check.

“You’re not my late beta’s sister,” he said, his voice low and dangerous.

I nodded, tears forming in my eyes. I had been so close to him. “I’m sorry,” I said, my voice quivering. “I didn’t mean to deceive you. I just wanted to be close to you, to feel like I had a lover again.”

He sighed, his shoulders sagging. He looked so tired, so worn out.

“Enough of this nonsense,” he said, his voice like a whip crack.

He dragged a chair over and sat down in front of me, his hands clenched into fists. “How do I know you’re not the one who killed my beta?” he demanded, his eyes boring

into mine.

I shook my head, my voice quavering as I defended myself. “No, I would never do that. I’m incapable of murder. I just wanted to be close to you, to feel like I had a lover again. I swear, I didn’t do it,” He leaned forward, studying my face intently.

“How did you know where to find my late beta?” Kex asked, his tone accusing. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves.

“I’m from the same pack where the a

took place,” I said, my voice trembling. “I saw your beta trying to cross the border, and he was shot with an arrow. I thought if I used him as an advantage, I could get close to the one person I’ve always loved.”

I looked up at Kex, searching his face for any sign of compassion. But all I saw was anger and mistrust.

“Did my beta ever tell you his last wish was for me to be with his sister?” Kex asked, his voice low and dangerous. I shook my head, unable to speak.

“The truth is, I found him dead,” I finally managed to say, my voice a mere whisper. “He didn’t know me. I only knew about him going to meet her from his belongings.”

I looked at Kex, my eyes pleading with him to believe me. But the look on his face told me he didn’t. He was seething, his foot tapping impatiently.  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Answer me!” he barked, his voice echoing in the silence of the room.

I looked down at my hands, unable to meet his eyes. “I–I burnt them,” I whispered, my voice so faint it was barely audible..

“You burnt what?” Aisha asked, her voice sharp.

Alpha Kex stood up abruptly, his chair falling over as he stormed out of the room. I looked up, my eyes pleading for him to stay. But his gaze was fixed on Harry, his jaw clenched in fury.

“Lock her up,” he said, his voice harsh.

I sank to my knees, my tears flowing freely. “Please, Alpha,” I begged, my voice barely at whisper.

But my pleas were met with silence. He turned and left the room without a backward glance, I sank to the floor, my b*dy shaking with sobs.

As Harry moved towards me, I begged, “Please help me. I love him, I swear I didn’t kill his beta. Please!” Yet Harry didn’t say a word. He simply grabbed me by the arm and began to drag me away. I struggled, my voice rising in panic, “No, please, stop!”

Nelly’s voice rang out like a gunshot in the silence, “Stop!”

Harry froze, his grip on my arm loosening. I looked up at him, my heart pounding in my chest. What would happen now?
