'I should have looked around the palace when I had the chance,' I said in my mind regretfully, 'Even though I must be followed by ten guards and maids, at least I would feel a bit of freedom. But because of my stubbornness, I am stuck once again in this bedroom now.' Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the Find ɴøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I lay back against the pillows, trying to have a nap. At least if I were sleeping, I would not keep thinking about the foolishness that I had done.

However, when I just drifted off to sleep, I jolt awake immediately to the sound of the door bursting open.

I sat up quickly and saw Sigmund making his way towards me with Lupita in tow.

“His Majesty invites some guests to dinner tonight. He wants you to join him in the dinner,” Sigmund told me to the point.

“No, I’m not coming,” I said.

“It’s not an option. Either you come to the dinner willingly or I’m going to drag you there,” he said coldly.

“I don’t give a damn what you would do to me. No matter what happens, I’m not going to the dinner. Because I don’t want to consume blood,” I talked back.

Sigmund huffed. “You don’t have to eat anything if you don’t want to, but you must come to the dinner no matter what happens.”

“But—”

“No buts,” Sigmund interrupted, “Get ready now! Lupita will help you.”

Before I could argue, Sigmund spun around and walked out of my bedroom hurriedly.

“Come on Rosanne, I will help you get ready,” Lupita said.

Reluctantly, I got out of bed and walked into the bathroom. After taking a quick shower, Lupita helped me change into a pink fancy dress and white high heels. Afterwards, she applied natural make-up on my face.

As soon as I was ready, Sigmund picked me up and escorted me to the dining hall. Annoyingly, my ten bodyguards, Lupita and some other maids followed behind us.

Two doormen were standing in front of the door of the dining hall. They pulled the large oak doors open, revealing the glamorous dining room with the long dining table which was occupied by my grandfather and some guests who were having conversation.

“Princess Mirabelle and Lord Sigmund,” one of the doormen announced.

Suddenly, the room fell silent, and everyone’s eyes fixed on me. I felt nervous under their curious gazes.

Sigmund and I then entered the room, meanwhile, all of the guards and maids stayed outside.

“Here comes my granddaughter!” My grandfather gave me a smile as he rose from his seat.

All the guests arose from their seats too in unison.

“Grandpa d—”

Sigmund pinched my arm, cutting off my words instantaneously.

“Ouch!” I whimpered quietly.

“Call him Your Majesty when in front of the others!” he whispered in my ears.

“I’m sorry. I mean, Your Majesty, did you call me?” I repeated.

“Yes, my dear. I want to introduce you to council members. Come here!”

I strolled awkwardly towards the head of the table where my grandfather was waiting for me.

Sigmund followed behind me.

“Everyone,” King Bellamy began, “I introduce you to Princess Mirabelle, the daughter of my late daughter, Princess Claribelle.”

The guests bowed their heads a little to respect my presence.

I forced a smile at them.

“Take your seat, Mirabelle!” Grandpa motioned to the chair beside him.

I walked to the chair Grandpa mentioned with Sigmund on my tail. A servant pulled the chair out for me to take.

“Thank you,” I mouthed as I sat down. After that, Sigmund took a seat next to me.

My eyes glanced at the two empty seats across from me. I wondered who the future occupants of those seats were.

The cracking open of the large oak doors brought my attention to the entrance of the dining hall. And I noticed everyone in this room did the same too.

A man who seemed to be around my grandfather’s age and another man who looked like in his mid-twenties stepped into the room. The old man had green eyes and brown hair which was greying at the sides. Meanwhile, the young man was tall, lean and muscular with auburn hair and bright green eyes.

They both were wearing expensive looking black dinner suit and a pair of shiny black shoes. The difference between them was the old man wore a crown on his head, while the young man didn’t.

King Ignatius and Prince Maximilian of the kingdom of Ambersky,” a doorman announced.

“So this handsome young man’s name is Maximilian and he’s a vampire prince? Cool!” I thought.

As King Ignatius and Prince Maximilian made their way to the table, my grandfather arose from his seat again, and instantly the rest of the table followed.

I was mesmerized by the handsome prince until I couldn’t rise from my chair. Because I became the only one who stayed seated, Sigmund grabbed my upper arm and pulled me to my feet.

The two kings exchanged greetings. My grandfather sat down. Servants pulled the chairs out for the king and his son and they took the seat at the table across from me. Slowly, all guests including me followed their lead.

“Mirabelle, this is King Ignatius, my best friend,” King Bellamy introduced him to me.

Hesitantly, I waved my hand at him. “Oh hello.”

“Princess Mirabelle, it’s an honor to meet you,” King Ignatius said with a smile.

“Thank you, Sir,” I said.

“It’s Your Majesty actually,” he corrected.

“Oh I’m sorry, Your Majesty,” I apologized.

Afterwards, my grandfather introduced King Ignatius’ son to me. “And Mirabelle. This is Prince Maximilian, your future husband.”

My jaw dropped. “My what?!”

“So King Bellamy hasn’t told you yet?” King Ignatius asked in surprise.

“Told me what?” I asked him back confusedly.

“You and Prince Maximilian are getting married. He is going to be your husband in the future,” King Ignatius explained.

“Grandpa, what the hell are you talking about? You want me to marry that stranger?” I pointed at Prince Maximilian angrily.

Okay, I admitted that Prince Maximilian was probably the most handsome man I’d ever met. But it didn’t mean that I wanted to marry him without getting to know him first.

“He is not a stranger, Mirabelle. He is the son of my friend’s. I have known him for ages,” my grandfather said calmly.

“You know him, but I don’t know him. How can you urge me to marry someone I have never met before?” I complained.

“That’s why I want you to meet him now. I and Prince Maximilian’s father had decided the date of your wedding. And it will be held on your 17th birthday which is in less than 3 weeks,” he told me.

“You even had decided the date. Oh I can’t believe this. When did I say I agree to marry him, Grandpa? You should have asked me first before deciding it,” I protested.

“I don’t need your approval to marry him. You know, I am the king here, and the most important thing is Prince Maximilian is your mate,” King Bellamy said arrogantly.

“My mate?” I asked confusedly.

“Yes, your mate,” he replied, “It is like a soul mate in your world. He is destined to be your husband. You’ll marry him no matter what happens.”

“No, I won’t marry him,” I said firmly.

“Yes, you will,” he insisted.

“No, I won’t.”

“Yes, you will.”

“I won’t. Never,” I yelled.

Before my grandfather could say another word, I sprung to to my feet and hurriedly walked towards the door.

“Princess, wait!” Sigmund called after me.

“Let her be!” I heard my grandfather say as I stormed out of the dining hall.

“Lupita, can you please take me back to my bedroom now? I don’t remember the way there,” I asked her.

Lupita glanced into the dining hall. When King Bellamy nodded his head, she answered me, “Sure, let’s go, my lady!”

At last, Lupita led the way to my bedroom and those annoying guards and maids followed behind us.
