After the speech, King Bellamy climbed down the stage to greet the guests. Prince Maximilian and I followed after him. King Ignatius also joined us.

Prince Maximilian put his arm around my waist as we walked. He showed off me, his new fiancée, to his friends that were attending this party. Meanwhile, King Bellamy and King Ignatius introduced me to the royal families from other kingdoms. My grandfather kept boasting about how happy he was to finally be able to meet me after 17 years. And King Ignatius claimed that he was so proud to have me as his future daughter-in-law.

My legs were beginning to tire because I had to spend the next two hours moving around the ballroom, meeting so many people from various vampire kingdoms. And my mouth felt as dry as a bone because I hadn’t drunk a drop of water yet since I stepped in this room.

“Future husband,” I called Prince Maximilian by the endearment that I gave for him. I knew it would be easier if I just called him fiancé. But I preferred to call him “future husband”, simply to remind myself that he was going to be my husband in the future.

Maximilian who was speaking to one of his friends diverted his attention to me right away. “Yes, Princess?”

“I’m tired. Can we take a seat for a moment?” I asked him.

“Sure,” he replied with a smile.

We excused ourselves. Afterwards, Prince Maximilian took me gently by the arm and guided me to the nearest empty table. Lastly, we sat down in the chairs, facing each other.

“I’m so thirsty. But they only serve blood here,” I complained with a sigh.

“I’m going to tell the maid to bring you some water. Wait here, okay?” Maximilian told me.

“Okay. Thank you,” I said.

He nodded with a smile. Rising to his feet, Maximilian started walking away to get my drink.

All of a sudden, the lights in the room dimmed and romantic song began to play in the background. The guests halted whatever activities they were doing and they each picked a partner to dance with.

I was watching people dancing when suddenly someone tapped me on the shoulder. “Do you want to dance with me?”

I spun around. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Sigmund standing behind me with a sweet smile fixed on his handsome face. He was wearing an elegant black tuxedo with a bow tie, making him look so stunning tonight.

“Sigmund?” I gasped. I hadn’t seen him since the ball started and now he suddenly appeared in front of me, asking me to dance with him.

“Do you want to dance with me?” Sigmund repeated, extending his hand to me.

I crossed my arms over my chest and retorted, “Do you think I still want to dance with you after what you have done to me yesterday?”

“What have I done?” He played dumb.

“Because of you, the king confiscated my new mobile phone,” I explained, upset.

“It’s your own fault, Princess. If you didn’t try to call your adopted family, I wouldn’t have to report it to the king,” Sigmund reasoned.

“I can’t believe it! How could you blame me when in fact it’s all your fault?” I growled.

“Hush, Princess!” Sigmund raised a finger to my lips. “Don’t speak too loud! Everyone starts staring at us now.”

My eyes swiped around the room. Much to my embarrassment I noticed that people around us was staring at us now. Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ ꜰindNʘvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“If you don’t want to embarrass yourself more, I suggest you dance with me now.” He held out his hand to me again.

“I would rather go than dance with you,” I scoffed.

I pushed my chair back and stood up. I intended to walk away, but Sigmund grabbed my arm, holding me back.

“If you want to dance with me now, I will speak to King Bellamy to return your mobile phone,” he promised.

“No thanks. I can talk to the king myself,” I refused.

“Do you think His Majesty is going to listen to you?” he mocked.

I hate to admit it, but I knew he was right. My grandfather never cares about my wishes.

I let out a sigh. “Fine. I will dance with you. But you must promise that I’ll get my phone back tomorrow!”

Sigmund grinned. “Yes, I promise.”

He extended his hand to me. “Let’s dance, shall we?”

Hesitantly, I placed my hand in Sigmund’s hand.

We were about to head to the dance floor but stopped abruptly when a voice boomed out from across the room. “Stay away from my fiancée!”

We both turned around and found Prince Maximilian making his way towards us in a rage.

I detached my hand from Sigmund’s. 'Oh no! Not again!'
