Prince Maximilian drew me closer to him and wrapped his arm around my waist possessively.

“Look at this! I left you for less than five minutes. And someone already tried to take you away from me,” he grumbled, glaring at Sigmund.

“Take her away you said?” Sigmund guffawed. “Don’t overact, Man! I just want to dance with her.”

“No one may dance with my fiancée, except for me. Do you hear that?” Maximilian growled.

“It’s not up to you to decide. Only Princess Mirabelle can choose with whom she wants to dance with,” Sigmund shot back.

Maximilian turned to look at me. “Do you want to dance with him?” he asked through gritted teeth.

I glanced at Sigmund.

“Your phone,” he mouthed.

'I would rather ask Prince Maximilian to buy me a new mobile phone than ask for Sigmund's help to convince King Bellamy to give my phone back,' I thought, didn’t care if Maximilian could read my mind.

“Not really,” I answered Maximilian’s question, making Sigmund’s face fall.

“You heard that? She doesn’t want to dance with you,” Maximilian mocked Sigmund.

Sigmund didn’t utter another word; he just spun around and walked away from us.

“Here’s your drink!” Prince Maximilian gave me a glass of water that he just fetched for me.

“Thanks,” I said with a smile.

I drank the water and then put down the empty glass on the table.

“Do you want to dance with me now?” Maximilian extended his hand to me.

“Sure.” I placed my hand in his.

Holding my hand, Prince Maximilian led me to the dance floor. When we got there, he then put his other hand on my waist, while I set my hand on his shoulder.

We began to dance to the rhythm of the music. Every now and again, he raised his hand and twirled me around underneath him before pulled me back to him again. We kept dancing, repeating the same process until the music ended.

When a new song started playing, Sigmund approached us.

“Can I dance with you now, Princess?” he asked hopefully.

I stared at Prince Maximilian. He glared at Sigmund.

“I told you to stay away from my fiancée!” Maximilian snarled.

“I’m Princess Mirabelle’s personal bodyguard, Man. If I stayed away from her, how could I protect her?” Sigmund said calmly.

“She doesn’t need you to protect her because she already has me by her side,” Maximilian emphasized.

“Seriously? A spoiled prince like you expect to protect the princess? Even you still need your babysitter, Jasper, to protect you,” Sigmund teased.

“Jasper is not my babysitter; he’s my bodyguard,” Maximilian corrected.

Sigmund and Maximilian continued arguing. I chose to shut my ears to their squabble.

'Why can't these boys stop fighting? I'd better leave now before they embarrass me even more,' I thought.

I started to walk.

“Where are you going, Princess?” Sigmund and Maximilian asked at the same time.

“I need to go to the bathroom.” It was half a lie. I didn’t really need to use the bathroom. I just wanted to get away from these childish men so I chose to go to the bathroom because they couldn’t follow me there.

“I’ll go with you,” Sigmund insisted. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FɪndNovᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“No, don’t go with him! You should go with me!” Maximilian said.

“I’m a grown woman. I can go to the bathroom alone,” I protested.

“It’s not safe for you to go alone, Princess,” Sigmund said.

“I hate to admit it, but Sigmund is right, Princess. It may be dangerous for you to go alone,” said Maximilian.

“You don’t have to worry about me! We’re in the palace now. No one would dare to harm me here,” I reasoned.

Sigmund and Maximilian said in unison, “But—”

“Enough!” I shouted, successfully silencing them.

“You two are exaggerating. Now excuse me, Boys.” Without waiting for their response, I walked away.

“Did she just call us boys?” I heard Maximilian ask.

“No, he called you boy, not me,” Sigmund retorted.

They both started bickering again. I ignored them and kept walking out of this room.

Leaving the ballroom, I intended to head straight to the bathroom. But then I realized that I didn’t know where the bathroom was. Instead of going back to the ballroom to ask about the direction to the bathroom, I decided to try my luck and looked for the bathroom myself. As a result, I got lost in a maze of corridors.

I wanted to return to the ballroom, but I didn’t remember the way to get there. Moreover, nobody was passing this hallway, so I couldn’t ask for their help to escort me back to the ballroom.

'I should have accepted Sigmund's or Maximilian's offer to accompany me to the bathroom. If I did, I wouldn’t get lost like this,' I said in my mind regretfully.

I thought of screaming for help. But I didn’t want to attract unwanted attention. This palace was now crowded with hundreds of vampires. What if the person who heard my scream were a bad vampire? And then they came here not to help me, but to suck my blood.

I kept wandering through this maze of corridors, hoping I could find a way out or at least spot someone to ask for help.

After walking for a few minutes, I was met with a junction. Without particular reason, I chose to take a right turn.

Just when I turned to the right hallway, out of the blue, I bumped into someone and fell onto my ass.

“Ouch!” I whimpered.

“I’m sorry. Are you okay?” a worried voice asked me.

I looked up and found a man standing in front of me. He offered a hand to me to help me up.
