King Bellamy’s point of view:

THE PREVIOUS NIGHT

After I delivered my speech to introduce my granddaughter, Mirabelle, and announced her engagement to Prince Maximilian, I, Mirabelle, Prince Maximilian, and King Ignatius got off the stage to greet the guests. I then personally introduced Mirabelle to the kings and royal families from other kingdoms.

Prince Maximilian and Mirabelle excused themselves to approach Maximilian’s friends after meeting several important people.

After some time, for some reason, I suddenly wanted to check on my granddaughter.

I scanned around the ballroom. I saw Prince Maximilian and Sigmund standing on the dance floor. They seemed to be arguing about something. However, I didn’t see Mirabelle anywhere.

“Maximilian! Sigmund!” I called out as I advanced towards them.

At my arrival, Prince Maximilian and Sigmund automatically stopped arguing.

“Your Majesty,” they said at the same time, bowing their head slightly in respect.

“What are you doing here? Where is Mirabelle?” I asked.

Sigmund and Prince Maximilian exchanged nervous glances.

“Princess Mirabelle went to the bathroom, Your Majesty,” Sigmund answered.

“Why did you let Mirabelle go to the bathroom alone?” I snapped at them angrily. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“I’m sorry, Your Majesty, but Princess Mirabelle insisted on going alone,” Sigmund said.

“He’s right, Your Majesty,” Maximilian agreed.

“Go find her now!” I ordered, “There are hundreds of strange vampires here tonight. I’m afraid someone might try to harm her.”

“Yes, Your Majesty,” Prince Maximilian and Sigmund said in unison. Afterwards, they ran out of the ballroom.

It had been half an hour since Prince Maximilian and Sigmund left for checking on Mirabelle, but they hadn’t returned yet. I began to worry. What if something bad happened to my granddaughter?

Before I completely lost my patience, luckily, Sigmund and Prince Maximilian returned.

“What took you so long?” I asked furiously.

“That’s...” Sigmund hesitated.

“Forget it! Where is my granddaughter? Why didn’t you come back with her?” I asked.

“Tell him!” Maximilian nudged Sigmund.

“Why me? You tell him!” Sigmund retorted.

“No, you tell him!” Maximilian insisted.

“No, you—”

“Enough!” I hollered, cutting him off. “Both of you, explain to me what happened! Now!”

Sigmund and Maximilian bowed their heads. “I’m sorry, Your Majesty. Princess Mirabelle is missing,” they said in unison.

My eyes widened. “What?!”

“We checked on her in the bathroom, but she wasn’t there,” Sigmund explained.

“We also have searched for her in her bedroom and some other places in the palace, but we couldn’t find her yet,” Maximilian added.

My hands balled into fists. There was only one possible reason why Mirabelle went missing; she must try to escape again.

'How dare she runaway from me? I have tried my best to put up with her feisty attitude. But look what she has done to me! She has embarrassed me in front of my guests,' I thought angrily.

“Search for the forest! I’m sure she hasn’t gone too far yet,” I ordered.

“Alright, Your Majesty.” Using their vampire speed, Maximilian and Sigmund left the ballroom.

While Maximilian and Sigmund were searching for Mirabelle, I waited for them in front of the ballroom.

Half an hour later, Prince Maximilian and Sigmund lastly came back.

“How is it?” I inquired impatiently.

“Your Majesty, we have searched for her in the forest, but we couldn’t find her anywhere,” Sigmund answered.

“Yes, Your Majesty,” Maximilian said, “We even couldn’t smell her scent there.”

“Keep searching! She can’t just have vanished into thin air. She must be hiding somewhere,” I said firmly.

“Alright, Your Majesty.” At last, Maximilian and Sigmund went to search for Mirabelle again.

Due to the sudden disappearance of Princess Mirabelle, the ball had to be ended sooner. I ordered all of the guards in this kingdom to help Prince Maximilian and Sigmund look for Mirabelle in the forest and in the areas nearby the palace. But she couldn’t be found yet. Because the dawn was failing, willy-nilly, we had to stop the search for a while.

PRESENT

Mirabelle had gone missing for a day now. As soon as the dusk fell, the search of Mirabelle went on.

I had sent all of the best vampire warriors to track her down, but they couldn’t find her anywhere. It’s as if she had vanished off the face of the earth.

Right now, I was sitting in my study, waiting warily for the news of my granddaughter. My best friend, King Ignatius accompanied me here.

“Look, calm down! We’ll find her,” King Ignatius reassured me. But his words didn’t help ease my anxiety at all.

“You’d better get some rest now! I know you didn’t get much sleep last day,” he suggested.

“I won’t rest until I find her. I’ve lost my only daughter and I don’t want to lose my granddaughter too. Not again,” I said.

“But you—”

Knock-knock.

A light knock on the door interrupted him.

“Come in!” I ordered.

The door opened, and a guard stepped in.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“I have a good news, Your Majesty. Lord Sigmund has just found Princess Mirabelle in the nearest city. They are on their way home right now,” he reported.

“Good!” I exclaimed.

I then dismissed the guard with a wave of my hand.

“I told you we’d find her,” King Ignatius said with a smile.

I returned his smile. “You’re right.”

“I’d better look for my son now. He must be happy to know that his fiancée has been found,” he said more to himself rather than to me.

King Ignatius finally excused himself and went to meet his son, Prince Maximilian.

'You owe me an explanation, Mirabelle,' I said in my mind.
