I regained consciousness to find myself sitting in the back seat of a moving car.

My head throbbed painfully. I tried to touch my head but I couldn’t move my hands since they were bound behind my back.

“What the heck!” I cursed under my breath.

“Ah you’re finally awake!” someone exclaimed.

I turned my head to where the voice came from and saw Sigmund sitting next to me. My eyes widened in horror when the memories of what happened earlier flitted through my mind. Hurriedly, I scooted away from him until my back hit the door.

“Get away from me you bloodsucker!” I screamed, but soon regretted it.

'For God’s sake, he’s a vampire, Rosanne. You shouldn’t have provoked him like that. Now you’re done for,' I said to myself in panic tone.

I thought he was going to slap me or at least snap at me like he always did. But unexpectedly, he chuckled at me instead. “Calm down, Princess! I've told you that I meant you no harm, right?”

“So what do you want from me?” I asked.

“I told you I just wanted to take you to my home,” he answered.

“Then what will you do when we reach your home? A—are you going to ki—kill me?” I stuttered the last part.

“Kill you?” He laughed. “If I wanted to kill you, I would have done it with the other girls.”

My mouth was agape. “You killed the other girls?”

His smirk automatically answered my question.

'Oh no! He has killed the other girls. And I know he’s definitely going to kill me too even though he said he wouldn’t. I have to get out of here,' I said in my mind.

With my bound hands, I gripped the door handle and struggled to pull it open. But of course it was locked.

“It’s no use. I have switched the child proof lock on. You’re never going to be able to open that door,” Sigmund informed me.

I sighed. Leaning my head against the leather seat, I stared out the window. All I could see were trees and I was getting bored.

Sitting upright, I twisted my wrists, trying to free them from the rope. But the rope was so tight that I couldn’t loosen it.

“Can you please untie me? My wrists hurt,” I pleaded.

“Sorry, no can do, Princess. I can’t risk you trying to escape again,” he said firmly.

“I promise I won’t try anything. Moreover, we’re in a moving vehicle now. Where can I go?” I said. S~ᴇaʀᴄh the Find ɴøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

He shrugged. “You might try to jump out of the car again like what you have tried to do just now.”

“It’s a stupid idea. I promise I won’t do that again. So please untie me!” I begged him.

“No!” he snapped at me, “You asked for it. You shouldn’t have tried to run away in the first place.”

“I hate you,” I spat at him.

I turned my head away from him and stared out the window again, watching the trees passing us by. After driving for a long time, the view outside the window slowly turned from dense forest to houses. At the end of the road, I spotted a sign of a diner. And suddenly an idea popped up to my mind.

“Can we stop by that diner?” I asked, jerking my head towards the direction of the diner ahead of us.

“Why?” he asked me back suspiciously.

“I need to use the bathroom,” I lied.

“You have used the bathroom before we started our journey, haven’t you?” said Sigmund.

“Actually,” I began, “at that time, I didn’t have time to pee because my mind was occupied by my escape plan.”

“It’s not my fault. You should have peed rather than trying to escape,” he reprimanded me.

“I know it’s my fault. But please stop by the diner for a minute! I really need to pee. Please!” I beseeched.

“No. we’re not stopping for toilet break,” he declined my request.

Refusing to give up so soon, I came up with another alibi, “I am hungry too. I haven’t eaten anything since before you kidnapped me.”

“As if I care,” he muttered loud enough so that I could hear it.

'Oh God he’s so annoying!' I grumbled in my mind.

“Can you at least buy me something to drink? My throat is dry.” I tried another trick.

“If you don’t want your throat dry, you should stop speaking now,” he barked at me.

“Please!” I pleaded, “I can’t hold it any longer. And I could have died of starvation and dehydration before we get to your home if you didn’t let me eat or drink anything.”

Sigmund didn’t say anything. He seemed to ponder over my plea now. After quite a long uncomfortable silence, he pulled a pocket knife out of his jacket pocket.

I began to panic. The last time I saw him pulling out a knife, he ended up cutting my wrist.

“What are you gonna do?” I shrieked.

He ignored my question and said, “Turn around!”

“W—why?” I asked, my voice shaking.

“I said turn around!” he repeated his ordered angrily.

I turned around obediently, didn’t want to anger him further.

I shivered in fear when I felt the sharp point of the knife touched my skin. However, instead of cutting my wrist like what I thought he would do, he cut the rope tied around my wrists loose.

I examined my wrists; bruises started to form on them. I rubbed the welt gently, trying to lessen the pain a little.

“Drop by that dinner! We’re going to have a toilet break and buy something to eat for our princess,” Sigmund ordered the driver.

I wondered why he kept calling me princess. I was his hostage for crying out loud.

“Yes, My Lord,” the man behind the wheel responded.

“Thank you,” I said with a forced smile.

He only replied with a brief nod.

The driver pulled the car into the parking lot of the diner.

Sigmund unlocked the door and pulled me out of the car with him.

“Don’t try anything stupid or else you won’t like the consequences! Do you understand?” he warned me.

I nodded my head. “Yes.”

He turned to the driver. “Wait here!”

“Yes Sir,” he replied.

“Let’s go!” Sigmund grabbed my arm and yanked me forward.

We started walking towards the diner. Once we stepped into the diner, he led me to a table at the corner of the room.

After we took our seats, a young woman in orange waitress uniform approached us. She had a notepad and pencil in her hands.

“Good evening,” she greeted us with a flashing smile. “May I take your order?”

“Yes. We’ll have two portions of fish and chips and two bottles of water please,” I said.

Sigmund frowned. “Two?”

“Yes, one for me and the other for you,” I explained.

“No, I don’t want to eat anything. Just one portion of fish and chips and a bottle of water for her,” he talked to the waitress.

She jotted our order down. “Okay, one portion of fish and chips and a bottle of water. Am I right?”

“Yes,” he responded, “Could we take our order to go? We’re in hurry.”

“Sure. Wait a moment! I’ll be right back with your order.” The waitress was about to leave but I held her back.

“Wait!” I said.

She turned around to face me and asked, “Anything else?”

“Could you tell me where the ladies is?” I inquired.

“The ladies is over there.” She pointed to a hallway across from our table.

“Thanks.” I smiled at her.

She nodded, spun around again, and then scurried off into the kitchen.

Once the waitress disappeared into the kitchen, I stood up from my chair. Unexpectedly, Sigmund rose to his feet too.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

“I want to follow you to the restroom,” he answered coldly.

“No, you don’t have to follow me. I promise I won’t try to escape again,” I said.

“Nice try, Princess. But I don’t trust you going to the restroom alone,” he said persistently.

“Fine. But you have to wait outside, okay?” I demanded.

He nodded. “Agreed.”

I made my way towards the ladies with Sigmund followed closely behind.

“You’ve got one minute,” he told me while I was entering the ladies.

I slammed the restroom door behind me and locked it. My eyes darted around the bathroom. I smiled when I saw a window above the sink.

'Perfect! Just like what I expect for,' I thought.

I climbed onto the sink and pushed the window open, careful not to make any noise. I glanced over my shoulder for the last time before swinging my leg one after the other, and then jumped out of the restroom.

I landed on the ground only to find a pair of black leather shoes in front of my face. Looking up, I gulped when I saw Sigmund standing before me with a furious look.

all of a sudden, Sigmund yanked at my hair and hoisted me up roughly. “I always treat you like a princess and this is how you repay me.”

“Let me go! You’re hurting me,” I whimpered.

“Enough. I’m done of being nice with you.” He finally let go of my hair, but only to lift me up and threw me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. After that, he made his way towards the car park.

“Put me down!” I shouted. I pound on his back and thrashed my legs about.

Sigmund ignored me and continued walking towards the car park. Once we reached the car, he opened the back door and threw me into the car.

“Ouch!” I groaned painfully.

Sigmund got into the car and closed the door behind him. He then pulled me into a sitting position and twisted my arms behind my back. At last, he picked the rope lying on the car floor and tied it around my wrists tightly.

“Let me go!” I wriggled, trying to break my wrists free.

Sigmund spun me around roughly and suddenly put a cloth over my eyes.

“What are you doing?” I protested.

“I don’t want you to look where we’re going from now on,” he said.

“You don’t have to do this. I—”

“Shut up!” he bellowed, interrupting me.

Actually, I still wanted to argue with him. But I chose to bit my tongue.

“Drive!” Sigmund ordered the driver.

“What about my food?” I knew he told me to shut up but I couldn’t help asking him about it.

“Forget about the food! You’re not eating anything for the rest of the journey,” he said angrily.

I complained, “But—”

“This is your punishment,” he cut me off, “You should have thought of the consequence before you tried to escape again.”

“It’s not fair!” I yelled.

“I suggest you to shut your mouth up, Princess, or else I’ll have to gag you too,” he threatened me.

I clamped my mouth shut.

“That’s a good girl.” He ruffled my hair with a chuckle.

I jerked my head away from him and started moving aside until my arm hit the car door. I leaned my head against the window and closed my eyes, hoping sleep would get me out of here soon.
