Singularity
Chapter 15

Kira didn’t remember falling asleep. She woke up, papers stuck to her face, still in the library. With a heavy sigh she made her way downstairs for a cup of coffee. Her father was in the kitchen, sitting on a stool, sipping his own coffee. She took a seat next to him and poured herself a cup.

“Good morning papa.” She smiled.

“Good morning daughter.” Sephiroth replied with his own smile. “Did you sleep well?”

“Well enough that I didn’t realize I was.” She giggled taking a sip of coffee.

“That’s good then.” He sipped his own coffee then added. “That boy from the academy. Did he manage to apologize?”

“Michalei, yeah he mentioned it.” She shrugged.

“What was the fight about?” He asked.

She groaned, “Papa.”

“Come on now, you used to talk to me about everything.” He chuckled.

“Fine,” She sighed. “He challenged me to a fight under the condition that if he won I’d have to give him the chance to be with me.”

“Ah, I see. It didn’t end well did it?” He chuckled.

“He yielded when I told him about Ein, or Domascus, whoever he was. At the time I was ready to die for it.” She replied.

“So, you’ve been seeing him a while then?” He asked.

“Yes, not that it matters now. I did die for it and now everything has changed again.” She sighed.

“How has it changed?” He asked.

“I didn’t come back the same papa. The power isn’t passive anymore. If I wasn’t wearing this bracelet I would be destroying everything I touched.” She said as she showed it to him.

“I know this symbol.” He choked out. “Domascus used it to control your mother. It’s a binding spell.”

“I know what it is. It works and I’m glad he gave it to me. I wanted to kill Michalei yesterday. It’s the only thing that stopped me.” She sighed.

“Well, I’m all caught up now.” He smiled and kissed her head. “You must learn to control yourself without that bracelet. Domascus is not one to trust with such things. As for Michalei, I believe he still owes you a proper apology and you owe him one as well.”

“Of course papa. You are right.” She smiled weakly.

“Go back to the academy and work out some of these pent up frustrations. It will be good for you.” Sephiroth ordered.

Kira smiled and watched her father walk away. She took his advice to heart and made her way to the archway. She opened the portal and stepped through to the darkness beyond. As it closed behind her she made her way to her room where she sat in silence and waited for the next day to begin.

Kira strolled down the hall and into the training room. She walked past everyone and went straight up to Michalei. She swept his feet out from under him and as he hit the floor she kicked him in the chest. He lay there wide eyed as she kneeled down on him holding him to the floor.

“Apology accepted,” She grinned stood and held out her hand.

He took it as she said, “Consider this my apology.”

“You had every right to yell at me. No apology is necessary. There was no way you could you have known what rests in my past.” He replied.

“True,” She replied. “Maybe when I’m done kicking your ass you could tell me about it.”

“If you can manage I suppose.” He laughed and drew his sword. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Kira drew her swords a swell. They snapped open in one fluid action and bore down intent on splitting flesh. Michalei didn’t give them the opportunity. His sword connected and deflected the attack. As she circled around to do it again, he elbowed her in the chest. She brought her swords up to protect her face as she kicked him in the spine. He let out a laugh as he swung around again to strike at her. She blocked and did a back flip hitting him in the chest with both feet.

Michalei wheezed and took a step back as Kira landed gracefully back on her feet. She swung the hilts around in her hands attacking him with a left and a right. He swung back countering the strikes with a shower of sparks. They danced around each other, evenly matched, neither one of them able to shed any blood.

“You’ve gotten better.” He commented.

“Death does that to a person.” She replied with a chuckle.

“Enough,” They heard and were forced to break off the contact.

“I don’t understand how you can be so calm about it.” He said as he put his sword away.

She shrugged and put her swords away.

He continued, “That son of a bitch wiped out my entire village. By the time the dust settled there was nowhere left for us to go.”

“I’m sorry to hear that.” She bowed. “If you’ll excuse me I have chores to do.”
