At nine in the evening, the Reynolds Manor was as quiet as a ghost town.
Years had passed and the Reynolds had all packed up and left, but surprisingly, Reynolds Manor remained as it was, exactly like seven years ago. It was perfectly preserved, just without any inhabitants, making it feel eerily empty
Balch’s car rolled in through the main gate. Seraphina stared at the garden she was all too familiar with, feeling somewhat dazed
Two cars were parked in front of the main house. One was the same car Conway had driven when he last came to see her, the other belonged to Leandro
The fact that Conway had fainted, a big deal that even she was notified about, and here was only Leandro’s car, the whole thing seemed fishy
Balch parked the car and accompanied Seraphina into the main house.
The hall was illuminated by dim yellow light, casting a familiar silhouette of the house.
After seven long years. Reynolds Manor hadn’t changed a bit.
Seraphina paused in the hall, and Balch turned to look at her.
She pointed to the kitchen with a smile “When I was hungry in the middle of the night, I used to sneak into the kitchen to find something to eat, and hid there, eating quietly before daring to go upstairs”
Upon hearing this, Balch reached out to hold her hand
Her palm was a bit cold, but she still smiled at him, “I felt so pitiful back then, but now that I think about it, it was kind of fun”
Just as the words left her mouth, a tall figure appeared on the stairs.
Leandro was coming down the stairs.
He was walking slowly, dressed simply in black trousers and a white shirt, contrasting against the grand and vintage staircase behind him, exuding a sense of elegance
The moonlight just happened to shine through the window.
Seraphina suddenly remembered a night seven years ago.
Leandros gaze was deep, he glanced at her, then turned to Balch standing next to her.
“Mr. Lawson.” Leandro said
Balch gave a slight smile, “I hope you don’t mind my intrusion.”
Seraphina didn’t look at Leandro, instead she tugged at Balch’s hand, “I’ll take you upstairs to see grandpa.”
With that, she led Balch upstairs, brushing past Leandro at the staircase.
Balch nodded at Leandro, who returned the gesture.
As the footsteps of the two disappeared upstairs, Leandro slowly walked into the kitchen.
After going upstairs, Seraphina easily found Conway’s room. Upon opening the door, she was stunned.
To be honest, when she only saw Leandro’s car downstairs, Seraphina had concluded that Conway’s illness was probably all a farce, so she had breathed a sigh of relief. But what she saw now was Conway lying on the bed with his eyes closed, his complexion pale, and various monitoring devices flickering beside him.
She immediately let go of Balch’s hand and rushed in.
Lacy, who had called her, was sitting by the bed. As soon as she saw Seraphina, she quickly stood up, “Ms. Bennett.”
“How is grandpa?” Seraphina asked, observing Conway’s condition.
“He woke up once, but he’s probably too weak and fell asleep again, Lacy said.
“Then why did he suddenly faint?” Seraphina said, “Did the doctor come and check?”
“Yes, he did,” Lacy said, “The doctor said it’s related to cerebrovascular disease. Elderly people are naturally weak, and besides, high blood pressure and heart disease have been long–standing issues.”
“Why didn’t he go to the hospital?”
“The lord doesn’t want to go to the hospital. He just wants to stay here. But don’t worry, the doctor will come anytime,” Lacy said, “He kept calling your name when he woke up, so I called you He would definitely be happy to see you when he wakes up again.”
After listening to this, Seraphina held Conway’s hand and couldn’t say another word.
