“So Cyra, we should head back inside before Uncle Cyrus comes out looking for you, sees you like that, and attempts to kill my newly found jiju,” Vi said.

“Yeah, we should,” I nodded.

“So, you have to meet my parents,” I said to Damon.

“Should I be scared?” he asked.

“If you meet her dad alone, yes. If her mom is with him, it’ll be much better. Hope for the best and best of luck! I have to go,” Vi gave us a thumbs up and left.

I took Damon’s hand and led him inside.

I can’t believe he’s back! I’ve waited for this day for so long. I wanted to run and kiss him as soon as I saw him, but I knew that if I did that then news of me kissing a guy would reach Dad and that would’ve been messy. When he said ‘How’s the groom’ I was confused for a second but then I realised what he thought.

*Flashback*

“So, how’s the groom? I hope he’s treating you well because you deserve nothing less than perfect,” he said while I had my back to him.

The groom? How does he know Vi is getting married and why does he sound so sad. Ohhhh! He thinks I’m getting married! Well, let’s have a little fun. I smiled internally while my wolf glared at me.

“He is,” I said turning towards him.

“He’s kind and sweet and funny. He’s an alpha’s son, so he’s very familiar with the royal environment. He’s hardworking and perfect for his role. The people love him and have already welcomed him to the royal family with open arms. My entire family loves him and even my uncles and dad approved him. He’s also responsible and knows how to take a lot of pressure, which is a really important quality for his role. He treats me really well and I like him. He’s so romantic and made a gorgeous proposal. He’ll make an amazing husband,” I continued.

He closed his eyes and I regretted narrating that paragraph to him.

“and a perfect beta,” I quickly added.

“Cyra stop! I’m happy you moved on and that you’re living a happy life but please don’t….wait what?” he said.

“He’d make a perfect beta,” I repeated hoping he’d connect the dots.

“Beta?” I looked at her confused.

“Well yeah, the ‘groom’ will become the beta when I become the queen considering he’s Vi’s mate,” I explained giggling.

After that, he started rambling and I just kissed him, my body couldn’t hold back anymore.

*Flashback Over*

I still can’t believe he’s back. I’m so happy! It’s been five tormenting years of waiting for him to get back and now he’s finally here! And that too on his birthday! I’m going to ask him how after I introduce him to my parents. Gosh, I’m so excited!

I didn’t even realize when I reached the drawing room and bumped into my dad.

“Careful!” both Dad and Damon exclaimed, balancing me.

“Thanks, I’m fine,” I replied smiling.

“Who is he?” my dad glared at Damon.

“I’m Damon, sir,” Damon replied formally.

“Your Damon!?” my mother exclaimed happily from behind.

“Yes, my Damon,” I replied giggling.

“You’re her mate,” my dad stated.

“Yes sir,” Damon said interlacing my fingers with his.

My father glared at him harder and I could practically see his power radiating from him. Damon immediately dropped my hand. Aw, I miss the sparks.

My mother came beside my dad.

“Oh my god, you’re gorgeous! And you’re finally here! You don’t even know how much we’ve waited for this day!” she said hugging him.

My dad growled and glared at Damon harder, which I did not think was practically possible.

“Cyrus!” my mother shouted.

“You guys go to Cyra’s room, I’ll take care of him,” she continued and my dad growled again.

“She’s a kid! They are going nowhere alone with him!” my dad exclaimed.

“Number one, she’s twenty-one. Secondly, he’s her mate and so you’re going to come with me and let them spend time together!” my mother shouted back.

I took the hint and led Damon upstairs.

“Violet was not kidding,” he said.

“No shit! You’re so lucky mom was with him. I’ll give you the castle tour later. Let’s just go to my room first,” I said.

I reached my room and opened the door. My room was quite clean except for my table. Damon’s jacket was hung on my chair, a cake, the photo (which had the words ‘don’t lie to me’), kept in a frame, and my diaries were on the table.

“Why do you have a cake?” Damon asked.

“For your birthday,” I mumbled.

“You remember my birthday?” Damon asked smugly.

“Well yeah. You told me that on the first night, we slept together,” I said.

We just stared at each other for a solid minute.

“Gosh I missed you,” I said.

After that, he told me what happened.

“What about you? What did you do here?” he asked.

“Well, I trained to become a queen, studied, and got to know my people better. I’ll officially become the queen on my 22nd birthday,” I replied.

“Oh wow! Are you nervous?” he asked.

“I mean, a little bit I guess but I think I’ll be alright. And now, I have you by my side too. I was actually supposed to be crowned on my 20th birthday but I got it delayed because I wanted to have you by my side,” I explained.

“Wait, really?” he asked surprised.

“Yeah, of course! I wanted you to be at my coronation,” I replied.

He smiled at me and I smiled back.
