The Alpha King’s Virgin by Charmeleon Chapter 92

Chapter 92

RAINE

Another sleepless night spent pacing in the room. I am caged, frustrated, and exhausted all possibilities of escape. My hatred of the man who calls himself my father is ever growing stronger. I hammered against the door, screaming for Quindin.

Eventually, he came.

“Stop your incessant hollering, Raine!” Irritation rolled off him in waves. He slammed the door shut behind him. “What do you want?”

“Call off the Shadow Dragons!” I demanded, meeting his stony stare with one of my own. “If you care for this child, you will ensure no harm comes to his father.”

He lifted his lip in a sneer. “And why would I do that? Amaris has become a nuisance.”

“Don’t you care what happens to me if he dies?” I answered myself, “No, of course, you don’t!” folding my arms across my chest, I turned my back on him. He should leave before I said or did something I would regret.

“And what do you think will happen to you, Raine? You are only part werewolf. The mate bond won’t kill you.” He took a seat on my bed, crossing his feet at the ankles, looking comfortable and condescending.

“I guess we’ll find out then, won’t we?” My thoughts went back to the Luna of the Blood Fang pack, driven to madness by the death of her Alpha, I couldn’t bear to think of my life without Amaris. “What makes you the expert on werewolf soulmates, Quindin Thael?” I hoped he would see the contempt I felt for him on my face.

“You’re thinking about your mother. We weren’t soulmates, not quite. But I would have given her the world, but her fear got the better of her. So stop blaming me for your mother’s weakness.” He rose to his full height and towered over me. “Hate me all you want. It won’t make any difference.”

I couldn’t look at him any longer. “Maybe she saw you for the monster you are.”

“We’re all monsters, Raine.” He closed the door behind him and locked it.

Looking out at the window, I saw dark clouds forming on the horizon. Somewhere out there, my mate fought a war. For me. With my hands pressed against the glass, I prayed to the Moon Goddess to keep him safe. How I wished I could be there by his side.

I’m driving myself insane watching from the window, seeing the darkness devouring the light, hearing the wind howl and shriek while it prowled around the fortress. How do you fight an unseen enemy? I pulled myself away from the window to lie on the bed. My body ached from not getting enough rest. The pup drained what little there was of my energy. As I closed my eyes, I felt my breathing slow and soon drifted off into a dreamless sleep.

“Raine! Raine, wake up! Tasha sounded excited, jumping around in my head.

What is the matter? Why did you wake me up?‘ I got slightly annoyed by the disturbance because I had finally achieved some much–needed rest.  Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the ꜰindNʘvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Chapter 92

‘Listen! Listen!”

At first I thought it was still the wind howling outside, but then I focused on my hearing. Wolves, hundreds of them, lifting their voices in unison. It wasn’t a mournful melody. I recognized it for what it was, a triumph song, after a successful hunt.

They

Tasha, they won!” I jumped around joyfully. “He’s coming for us. I rushed to look out of the window and saw blue skles, beautiful, clear blue sky. The darkness had gone

My joy was short–lived, however. Willa came to serve my dinner and with it, a cold dose of reality.

“Your king can never break through Quindin’s traps, Raine. And even if he succeeds, what chance do you think he has against the Magus’s magic? You don’t know the half of what he’s capable of.” She perched on top of the table, swinging stockinged legs as was her habit.

“Why do you stay with him?” I purposely ignored her attempt to discourage me. I needed hope like I needed air.

She looked baffled by my question.

“He is controlling and a sadist.” I blurted out. There were more explicit terms I wanted to use, but those were the first words that came to mind.

She peered at me through slitted eyes, and I had the distinct feeling that she regarded me as if I were stupid. “You don’t know him like we do. Why do we stay with powerful men, do you think?” she countered.

“It’s different with werewolves. We have a deep connection. It’s not something we can control. It is our destiny to be together.” I said between mouthfuls of the tasty lamb stew.

Willa shrugged her shoulders. “We stay with him by choice. He doesn’t force us to do anything. All he wants from us is loyalty.”

“Really?” Only loyalty? He seems to enjoy their bodies more than their loyalty. “From what I’ve seen, you’re his slaves. He doesn’t love you. I think he’s incapable of it.” Quindin must have some hold over the witches. They have their own magic. Why would they need him, unless he manipulates them to believe that they are nothing without him?

“I’m done talking to you.” She jumped down from the table and turned to me so abruptly that her blue hair swished against my breasts, her face contorted with hate. “Don’t think I’ve forgotten the pain you’ve caused me.” Her eyes glowed with a green fire. “You’ll pay for it as soon as you drop that baby. You’re mine.”

I pushed her away from me. “Do I look scared?” No longer would I tolerate being bullied by anyone. I’ve had enough, and I refused to endure one more moment. “Bring it on, Witch.”

“Just because you’re his daughter….

“Oh, please! I have no illusions about how he feels about me.” I got up in her face. “But be prepared because Amaris is coming, and he will show no mercy. And neither will 1” I let Tasha shine through my eyes to bring my point across.

She barked out a laugh. “Let’s see how big your mouth is when Quindin hands you your lover’s head. From what I’ve heard, it will be soon.”
