POV Rasheed:
If this trip wasn’t so important, I would cancel it. Seeing my beautiful wife so stressed out hurts my soul. I am only taking warriors with me, so Gianna has all the help she needs. She has been trying to be super woman and for the most part she is succeeding. She just needs to find a way to ask for help. Goddess knows my wife is head strong and wants to do it all. I even fight with her from time to time about our positions, but that’s the Alpha’s in us.
Our warriors and our high-ranking wolves are waiting for us outside and this is the part I hate the most. Saying goodbye to my beautiful family. Gianna of course has the twins in her arms and Onyx is holding onto her leg. My children love their mother. I can see the sadness in Gianna’s eyes, but it is gone in the next second.
“My beautiful wife, I will be home soon. Take care of our wonderful children.”
“I will. I love you!” Gianna says.
I give Savanna and Jehziel a kiss and then bend down to Onyx and give him one as well.
“Be good for mom, you’re the man of the pack while daddy is gone, okay?”
“Daddy, please promise me you will remember mommy” Onyx says with tears in his eyes.
“Of course, daddy will never forget your mommy, she is the love of my life.” I say as I give him a kiss on the forehead.
I stand up and think this boy is always so encrypted. I kiss my wife one last time before I enter the car. As we drive away, I look at my family getting smaller and smaller though the window.
When they are no longer in sight I turn around and pull out my laptop and start working. It is going to be a long drive to get to the Council headquarters.
After about an hour drive one of the warriors tells me that they are having some interference with the other car of warriors. It’s quite strange, so I try and reach out via mind link. Nothing! I try their cell phones and nothing again.
“Beep the horn and then pull over. We need to regroup, something is off.” I tell the driver.
He beeps the horn and the SUV in front of us explodes. Our car is pushed back a few hundred feet and it comes to a stop.
“Floor it and don’t look back.” I use my Alpha voice.
He tells me the car will not move, and my heart sinks. We were set up. The only question is by who. We have not offended anyone and are in good standing with all the packs. Just as I am about to get out a semi-truck comes flying into the back of us and I pass out immediately.
POV Gianna:
It’s been a few hours since Rasheed left, and I have not heard from him. I am a little worried, so I reach out to some of the warriors that went with him. Nothing. Now I am starting to get really worried, and I go to find Trigger.
“Hey, have you heard from Rasheed? I tried reaching out to the warriors just in case he is busy but none of them have responded.”
“I tried to reach out as well and nothing, I was just coming to find you, but we found each other.” Trigger says.
“Okay, lets send out Alex and some trackers, I’ll have them just follow the path he was taking just to be on the safe side. It’s not like him to not communicate with the both of us. I will also inform his parents.”
After two hours my mind is racing. Thank the Goddess for my mother-in-law. She is helping with the kids while my father-in-law and I focus on finding Rasheed. Alex finally gets back to me.
“Any news Alex?”
“Yes, Gianna. We are about to be on our way back, but I need you to be prepared. Rasheed is not himself.” Alex says.
My heart drops at the words I just heard. My head starts to spin, and I feel like I am going to pass out. I keep thinking of Rasheed and try to concentrate on him, maybe I can pop to him. I am learning more each day about the usage of my powers but popping seems to give me a challenge. I clear my head and think of Rasheed again.
“Goddess be, you scared the shit out of me Gianna.” Alex says.
I look down and see them loading our warriors bodies into the car, five left with him and only two survived. I am scanning my surroundings, but I do not see my husband and panic sets in. I am twisting and turning to find him. Alex sees me and points to the back of one of the SUV’s. I rush over and see him in perfect condition. I let out a sigh and rush towards him. Only I do not expect the reaction he gives me.
He pushes me away and uses his King voice on me. Only it does not work on me, I am his Queen his tone does not affect me.
Rasheed looks menacingly at me, and I am in utter shock.
“Baby, what happened?”
“You dare call your King baby? I do not know you. Which pack do you belong to so I can speak with your Alpha about the disrespect” Rasheed bellows at me.
