Chapter 50

Brittany couldn’t sleep after hanging up the phone. She carefully got out of bed, and went downstairs for a glass of water, when the door swung open.

It was Lionel

Lionel was a few years older than Brittany. He treated her like his own sister. Whatever Hannah had, she had too. tLionel probably just came back from a party, reeking of booze. Seeing

Brittany, he asked, “Heard from Hannah that you and Finn are done-zo?”

“Yeah. Need a hand?”

Despite being tipsy, Lionel still had his wits about him and declined.

“Nah, I’m good.”

He took off his coat, hung it up, and walked into the living room.

Brittany knew the Chester family well. She made him a cup of honey-infused water. “Have

some water.”

Lionel took the cup, gulped it down, and looked at Brittany. “Finn doesn’t deserve your tears. You’ll find a better guy.”

“I know. You should get some rest.’

Brittany wasn’t in the mood for chitchat, so she turned and left.

Watching her walk away, Lionel sighed, thinking to himself, that Finn really missed out on a good one.

Brittany returned to her room, where Hannah was already sound asleep.

She walked over to the window and sat on the windowsill, bathed in the moonlight.

She had been with Finn for so many years and had truly loved him. But it was all a sham. She wiped her face with her hand, feeling cold. It wasn’t until the wee hours of the morning that Brittany crawled back into bed.

The next morning. Hannah woke Brittany up. “Breakfast’s ready, my mum made your favorite, get a move on.”

Brittany felt better after a good sleep. “Alright.”

After they freshened up, they bumped into Lionel, said hi, and went downstairs together.

When Lionel found out Brittany was setting up her own studio, he offered his support. “If your need help, just give me a shout…”

He paused, “You can also ask Hannah.”

Lionel was the cream of the crop among their group, always the envy of everyone since they

were kids, and now he was quickly making his mark in the world.

Brittany was a bit scared of Lionel because he was so strict with her when they were young.

Tanya had also prepared lunch for Brittany.

After Brittany and Hannah left. Tanya sighed, “Poor Bri.”

Blake was still at home, reading the newspaper. “Ms. Russell helped us out once. We should return the favor and help Brittany.”

The Chester family was once on the brink of bankruptcy, and it was Julie who saved them.

Before they could pay her back, Julie passed away due to depression. The gratitude Tanya and Blake felt for Julie was now bestowed upon Brittany. They watched her grow up and treated her like their own.

“I know. Let’s stop doing business with the Boulton family.”

Tanya frowned in disgust. “They were mean to Bri, so we can’t let them profit anymore.”

Blake laughed, “Okay, as you wish.”

Brittany’s rented studio was located downtow; it was a great location. When she arrived, she saw someone waiting outside.

Finn saw her coming and quickly walked up.

“Brittany.”

Brittany paused slightly.

“What are you doing here?”

With a sorrowful look on his face, Finn tried to grab her hand, “Brittany, I’m sorry for everything. Can you forgive me?”

He had been hasty, he had been gullible, believing Patrina’s words.

His stubbornness had hurt Brittany, and he truly realized his mistakes.

Brittany dodged his hand, her eyes cold, “Finn, we’re over.”

Brittany couldn’t understand why Finn had the guts to come find her.
