Exhausted to her core, Brittany closed her eyes, feigning sleep.

Joie clenched her fists, defiant. “You know nothing. As long as I’m alive, there will come a day when Brittany will plead on her knees before me!” 

Leda scoffed and left without another word. 

Joie caused a ruckus in the detention center, eventually leading to a hospital admission. 

Grace couldn’t stand by and watch, so she visited the hospital. “How did things get this bad?” 

Joie lay in the hospital bed, battered and bruised.
