Brendon frowned and his expression became emotional.

"Shannon..."

“Brendon, I'm fine... I just got emotional, I'll be okay in a bit!" Shannon looked softly at Brendon with a voice that was both teary and intentionally playful, making one feel ticklish inside.

The driver who rear-ended her is a middle- aged man named Frederick Powell. He fled the scene after the accident and was caught by police early this morning."

"When they arrested him, he was sleeping in his room drunk," Caleb continued. "Based on his alcohol test and confession, police concluded that Frederick Powell had too much to drink and had hallucinations of chasing Miss Bowman's car before crashing into it."

Brendon listened with a raised eyebrow. "Did they investigate Frederick Powell's personal relationships?"

"Yes," Caleb replied quickly. "He has no grudges or disputes with Miss Bowman nor any financial issues with her." After a pause, Caleb added, "Frederick apologized sincerely and offered to pay for her hospital bills and car repairs..."

"Take care of that," Brendon put away his phone then helped Shannon up while asking, "What happened? Why are you so careless?"

“I... I need to go use the restroom..." Shannon lowered her head in submission then asked softly, "... Were you talking with Ranita earlier?" "She's injured, and there's no one to take care of her... Brendon, maybe you should go back and take care of Ranita! I'm fine now. If you stay here, I'm afraid Ranita will be angry with me again."
