Chapter 12~Love

“We will figure something out.” Mateo said firmly.I nodded my head believing him and gave him a thankful smile.Mateo wrapped his arm around me and held my hand with his other one making me smile.

“You aren’t mad at me?” I whispered.Ever since Lucifer and I kissed I’d been avoiding Lucifer like the plague while also hoping Mateo would forgive me.

“I was never mad at you piccolo.Ever since we got here things have been freaky.I don’t expect you to be able to fight off Lust or an attraction made my cupid himself.” He said softly.I smiled at his words and placed my lips on his.

“I love you.” I said as we pulled away from each other.

“Not as much as I love you.” He said, winking at me.

“Are you sure?” I asked looking back at Mateo.He smiled and kissed my lips before unwrapping his arm from around me and gesturing for me to go.

“Good luck.” He whispered smirking and turning to talk to peter.I looked between the two in confusion as I tried to figure out when they became friends.I turned away from them and looked back at Lucifer as I realized I was stalling.I took a deep breath and stood up before walking up to Lucifer.He rolled his eyes as he noticed me walking up to him.

“Now you’re done avoiding me-when it’s convenient to you?” He asked, getting ready to walk away.

“I’m sorry.” I said making him stop walking.I could see everybody staring at us from the corner of my eye and I took a deep breath.

“Since I’ve met you, you’ve had your own way of being there for me.I called you up and showed you a book and without hesitating you came along.” He turned around to face me as I stopped talking.I took a deep breath as my eyes filled with tears.He watched me curiously and I released a sad laugh.

“I love you Luce.You’re my best friend and that’s probably the craziest thing I’ve ever said considering you’re the devil.But for some reason I don’t care-I trust you with my life and I love you and I’m sorry for ignoring you because of a stupid dream.” I said sighing deeply.The room froze as everybody waited for Lucifer’s response.Tears were freely rolling down my cheeks and he cocked his head to the side as he watched them curiously.

“I-I’m the devil I don’t really do love.” He said looking back into my eyes and straightening up.He shrugged and smirked.

“But I guess you are my favorite human.” He said softly.I laughed at his words and walked up to him before hugging him tightly.He awkwardly patted my back making me laugh again.I pulled away from him and smiled as I wiped my tears away.

“Come get me when he’s ready okay?” I whispered looking at Kim from the corner of my eye.He smiled and nodded his head.I walked up to Kim and gave her a small smile.

“Will you come outside with me for a second?” I asked softly.She frowned in confusion but nodded her head and followed me outside the house.We walked towards the horses who were tied to trees a little further away from the house.I smiled at one of the horses as I ran my fingers through it’s mane.

“I overheard you on your phone before we came here.” I started turning to face her.She was standing a couple of feet away from me and was watching the horses curiously like she was in deep thought.

“I don’t need your pity.” She said, beginning to walk away.

“Nobody said anything about pity.” I said throwing my hands up in surrender.She stopped walking and turned to face me but stayed where she was at.

“I understand what it’s like to have no control over what you do.” I said giving her a small smile.She crossed her arms over her chest and cocked an eyebrow like she didn’t believe a word that was coming out of my mouth.

“It’s about to be the anniversary of when I found out that Alex isn’t my real mate and that Mateo is-all while being kidnapped.My parents took my brother-Noah away from me because we were in danger and then they faked their death leaving me-a little five year old girl-to fend for herself.” I said softly.She looked at me sadly and opened her mouth to say something.I shook my head and she closed her mouth.

“I don’t want your pity.” I joked.” She smiled a little and walked up to me.

“Despite the fact that Alex isn’t my true mate, he’s still my mate.I love him and I’ll love him whether we’re together or not.All I want is for him to be happy even if that isn’t with me.” I looked over her shoulder at Alex and he gave me a small smile.I looked back over at Kim and gave her a soft smile.I knew she hadn’t seen me look at Alex because she didn’t turn around to see what I looked at.

“I know you feel guilty about Jocelyn because it’s how I’d feel but you can’t control other people’s decisions.She did this to herself and I’m sorry to say this but if she gets in my way again,I’ll kill her myself.” I said softly.

“I understand.” She said, giving me a small smile.

“Good.” I said nodding my head.

“Can-can I hug you?” She asked taking a step towards me.I stared at her shocked for a second before smiling and nodding my head.She walked up to me and wrapped her arms tightly around me.I hugged her back and frowned as I heard a sob.

“He’ll choose you and now I see why.” She said softly.She started to pull away and I hugged her tighter and gently rubbed her back.

“Even if he chooses me, which I doubt he will considering you’re his true mate.I’ll do whatever I can to make sure you end up with somebody who makes you happy.” I said, pulling away enough to see her face.

“Thank you.” She said smiling.I smiled back and wiped the tears off of her cheeks.

“Now go talk to your mate.” I said gesturing towards Alex who was watching us intently.She turned to face him and flushed before looking back at me.I playfully rolled my eyes at her and took her hand before leading her to Alex.

“Talk, get to know each other.” I said giving them a smile.Alex smiled at me before turning to look at Kim.I walked away as he started talking to her.I stopped a few feet away from them as I watched them begin to get more comfortable with each other.I smiled as I took them in and took a deep breath as I silently accepted the thought of loosing Alex.
