Chapter 15~Changing

“Maybe she needs a second for it to sink in.” Phoenix mumbled.She turned towards Lucifer and grabbed his arm before pulling him out of the room.

“I need you to promise me something.” She said softly.

“What?” Lucifer asked skeptically.

“Can you get Peter home?” She asked, trying to make sure nobody was eavesdropping.

“Yes but I couldn’t do it for free even if I wanted to.” He answered, frowning in confusion.

“I figured.” She said looking back at him.

“So?” He asked trying to figure out where this was going.

“I want to make a deal with the devil.” She said nervously.

“ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY?” He screamed.Phoenix slapped her hand over his mouth and shook her head.

“Please Luce.” She pleaded softly.Lucifer opened his mouth to argue but she pouted and he closed his eyes and groaned.

“You’re going to sell your soul just to get him home?” He asked, clenching his teeth.

“No I used all of those up love.Can’t your Grandma do it?” Lucifer asked, opening his eyes and looking at her.He was desperate and reaching for straws.Usually he’d jump at the opportunity to take a soul from somebody but he simply couldn’t do that to her anybody else but her.

“If-if she doesn’t wake up I need a back up plan.Promise me that you’ll take my soul and take him home.” Phoenix pleaded.

“I can’t do that to you Phoenix.Do you know what you’re asking?You’re asking me to take away everything that makes you-you away.” Lucifer said, trying desperately to change her mind.

“Promise me.” She said softly.The two stared at each other for what felt like years as one waited for the other to break.Lucifer shut his eyes tightly and cursed under his breath.He opened his eyes to reveal his red ones and held his hand out.Phoenix quickly took it as she bit back a smile.Lucifer took his hand back and walked into the room without looking back at Phoenix.She knew he was mad at her but he’d forgive her eventually.She walked back into the living room and frowned when she realized the moon goddess still hadn’t moved.Phoenix listened heard as she tried to hear a heartbeat coming from her.Her eyes filled with tears as she didn’t hear anything and she looked at the empty vial sitting on the floor in front of the couch.Everybody watched silently as Phoenix broke into heart wrenching sobs.She dropped to her knees besides the couch and took the moon goddess’s cold hand in her owns.Her pleads filled the room as she begged for the moon goddess to open her eyes.Nobody moved or even made a sound as they began feeling Phoenix’s pain.Kim’s eyes filled with tears but she quickly pushed them away not wanting anybody to feel the need to comfort her when Phoenix was the one who need it.Kenzie was sobbing silently in Luca’s chest and he was doing his best to keep himself together.He loved Phoenix-she was like a little sister to him.He would’ve denied if asked though sometimes it was hard for him to hide it.Phoenix’s sobs suddenly stopped and everybody watched wide eyed as she collapsed.Mateo ran up to her and picked her up in his arms.He left the living room fully aware of the others following behind him and walked into his bedroom.He gently put her on the bed as he looked down at her in confusion.She mumbled something in her sleep but nobody could understand what she was saying.Suddenly the moon goddess was laying besides Phoenix.Everybody looked between the two of them in confusion as they tried to figure out what the hell was going on.Nobody made a sound as they waited for something-anything.The room suddenly got hot and Phoenix’s face scrunched up like she was in pain.

“Can you get a cold cloth and come put it on her head?” Mateo asked looking at Alex.Alex nodded and ran out of the room.Mateo started to make his way out of the room and Lucifer frowned.

“Where are you going?” Lucifer asked curiously.

“To call her family.” Mateo answered simply before leaving the room.Alex came back in the room and gently rested the small towel on Phoenix’s forehead.She relaxed and the room cooled back down.The front door suddenly burst open.Noah and Liam walked through the door.Noah and Phoenix’s mom and dad stepped through the door after them.

“Upstairs.” Mateo said gesturing for them to follow after him.Nobody was in the mood for a reunion right now.They were to worried about Phoenix and their thoughts were racing as they tried to think of something that could help.Mateo pushed the bedroom door open and the four newcomers completely ignored everybody else in the room as they made their way to Phoenix’s side.

“What happened?” Noah asked keeping his eyes on his sister.Mateo and Alex shared a wary before explaining the full story.By the time they finished explaining everything Noah was beyond pissed.Noah opened his mouth to say something and Liam took his hand in his own and squeezed it gently.

“Don’t.” Liam said softly.Noah looked into Liam’s eyes and found himself calming down slightly.He took a deep breath and looked back down at his sister.

“Why didn’t she call me?” He asked gently.

“We were in a rush to leave.” Mateo mumbled.Noah shut his eyes tightly and took a deep breath.His eyes filled with tears as he realized her heartbeat was slowing down.Lucifer and Peter shared a look as the suddenly got hit with a power surge.Everybody that was near the bed flew back as the power surge became stronger.

“WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?” Noah screamed trying to get back to Phoenix only to get flung back.

“She-she’s changing.” Peter mumbled in confusion.The power surge stopped suddenly but nobody moved.The moon goddess’s body was gone leaving just Phoenix.Everybody watched cautiously as she slowly sat up.Kenzie gasped as she took Phoenix in.Her hair color was now a platinum white hair.Her eyes slowly opened and they shined white for a second before they went back to their original grey color.Phoenix slowly climbed out of the bed and everybody immediately dropped to their knees as they bowed their heads in respect.

“Moon Goddess.” They said at the same time.

“Stand up.I’m still me.” Phoenix said rolling her eyes.They stood up and began firing questions at her.She held her hand up to silence them and smiled brightly as she noticed Noah and Liam.She squealed and ran into her brother’s arms.

“I haven’t seen you in so long.You don’t call you, don’t write.” Phoenix teased as they let go of each other.He chuckled and ruffled up her hair.She moved over to Liam and hugged him too.Her eyes found her parent’s and she ran up to them and hugged them too.

“What’s the occasion?” Phoenix asked, frowning.

“Phoenix you’ve been out for like 30 minutes.We didn’t know what was going on or if you were going to wake up.” Mateo said, making Phoenix turn her attention to them.

“Sit and I’ll explain everything.” She said softly.Everybody immediately sat down and looked up at her expectantly.She bit her lip to hold in a laugh as she took them all in.She swallowed it back remembering this was serious.She took a deep breath and ran her fingers through her now white hair.
