Solasta ( S h i n i n g )

They say heartbreak comes once in everyone's life, whether it's in the form of love, betrayal, or being left alone.

I wondered that what type of heartbreak I would face, well, I did felt the betrayal one a few days ago when my own Beta and Gamma had pushed me out of my own pack but in their own way, they thought it was right and deep down, I knew it too.

I clasped my hand around my Gamma's who had just revealed his name a while ago.

I don't say anything about it.

I smile when he meets my eyes, "Let's go, everyone is waiting." Asher nods and quickly rubbed his face to remove any visible signs of him crying just a few moments ago.

"Let's go," I say once again and leave first, giving him time to fully recover. He needed it.

I sighed and looked around the place I have spent my whole life in as I walked, Just as I walk to the large gates, my wrist is grabbed and I am pulled in the corner.

I didn't saw the need to defend myself because I knew exactly who it was.

By the sparks of course.

I let him pull me and place his nose on my shoulder blade.

"These wolves are making me nauseous." He grumbles and I fight the urge to laugh. Sure, it's torture for him to be among us lowlifes.

"You mean to say that I disgust you?" I try to sound angry but his situation was too funny to not to smile.

He pulls away and looks into my eyes as I try my best to keep my lips straight.

"No, not you. Never." Darius whispers and places his forehead on mine.

"Uhu?" Before any of us could say anything else, a throat clears,

"Alpha, everyone is waiting." I turn my head to Gamma Asher who had his cheeks tinged pink.

I heard Darius growl, loud enough for Gamma Asher to know that he had disturbed us. Asher took the sign loud and clear and scurried away.

Darius looked back at me and was about to say something but I pushed him away gently, "Everyone's waiting." I mumble and walk away and then another growl resounded the room.

Aww, is the king not getting what he wants? Maybe he will know what I felt like.

Just like that, I walk out the giant doors to greet the faces of people I had most of my life with. I could spot my therapist and several other wolves who worked in the packhouse.

If they reject me today . . .

"We gathered you here today because today, a very important decision is in your hands."

If they don't want me as there Alpha anymore . . .

"Alpha Freya Ruth has found her mate and now you decide whether you still want her as your Alpha or Gamma should be appointed as your new Alpha." My Beta announced loud and clear so everyone got the message. I wonder sometimes, doesn't my Beta want to be the next Alpha?

I squared my shoulders and raised my chin up to show confidence, as I felt multiple eyes move to me. Darius stood beside me with power oozing out and a lot of people had cowered away in fear, no doubt.

"Please, discuss among yourselves and then tell us your final decision." Immediately, wolves huddle together, and whispering starts.

"She is a great Alpha."

"But she is a female and she would have to leave with her mate one day or another. He is the King."

"Gamma is really strong, he had controlled the pack very well when the Alpha was gone."

"But our Alpha does not deserve to lose her title."

"She doesn't but it's not in her hands anymore but her mate."

I look back up at my mate with a heavy heart and pain evident in my eyes. I knew it would hurt but not this much.

Darius saw it, he saw everything in my eyes, and his stoic and angry demeanor softened in the slightest.

He took a step forward and tangled his fingers with mine. It felt weird but good at the same time.

I knew that my Beta and Gamma were watching us but I didn't care. It wasn't really a good feeling when the people you called family was easily letting you go.

Sometimes, having the super hearing sense annoyed me.

Soon, the crowd stopped and turned back towards us.

"What have you decided?" Beta asked as he stood up from his seat. Sun had already started to set and I release a sigh.

Even if they do want me, it isn't like Darius is going to leave me here. This all will just be harder then.

An old man stepped out from the crowd and looked towards us, one glance towards me and then towards my Gamma and then finally to my Beta.

"We have decided, that as much as we want our real Alpha, we will not be a hurdle in her happiness. She has given us a lot of happiness and kept us safe, brought us to the top but now it's her time." I look down and felt my eyes wind water.

No, stop! Please.

"We want her to be where she really belongs, with her erasthai. We will welcome our new Alpha with open arms." There it was.

I had to be strong and happily accept their decisions.

"Alpha-" The old man smiles and I look at him, "- You will always be here. You will still hold the title of Alpha for us." The man places his hand on his heart and my eyes start to burn.

Lowering my head to my feet, I take deep breaths.

Let them go, Freya.

I raise my head with a smile gracing my lips.

Fake.

"Then it will be my honor to announce your new Alpha." I untangle my hand from Darius that I just realized that I held it tight in my grip and walked towards my Gamma.

I slowly grabbed his wrist and looked straight into his eyes. I saw it, he didn't want to do it. He didn't want to take my position but still, he said . . .

"And I will be honored to accept this position."

I nod at him and he turns to the crowd, getting on his knees,

"I promise to be a good Alpha, look after all my pack members and treat them like family. I promise equality, safety, and prosperous life. I hope you all treat me the same as you do now." Asher slowly bowed his head and raised his head back up.

I glanced at my mate once more, I expected a smug look, saying, I told you so, but it didn't. He had a stoic face that stared back at me.

He slowly nodded as if agreeing with my decision not that I asked with his permission but it felt like it.

I can do this. I can give my title to my Gamma. He deserves it.

"And I revoke my title as the Alpha of the AshenWoods and appoint Gamma Asher as the new Alpha." I felt the power leave me, not a lot since I still had Alpha blood running through me but since now I was basically a rogue, it felt weird.

Bonds broke and I winced, I was no longer connected to this pack.

As I lost power, Asher gained it. Also, I did see some wide eyes - probably surprised that I called my Gamma's name.

I winced again as I tumble a little but balance myself in time. I square my shoulders and Without a word, I collected myself and walked away, leaving everyone else.

I walked without looking back.

Stepping down and away from the house, the distance grew just like my the hole in my heart.

Darius followed me but kept his distance. I appreciated it. When I was at a reasonable distance from all pack members, I broke down.

The pack that had given me the energy to stay strong was not my pack anymore.

I cried silently, scared someone will see my weakness.

I hope, I get rid of this feeling.
