The sunlight was shining through my partially closed curtains right onto my face. My eyes flickered open only to close them at the sudden bright light. My body slowly rolled out of bed until my feet connected with the soft carpet. I pushed my body to stand up and stretched while making my way downstairs. I grabbed the kettle, filled with water, then put it onto the stove to heat up. I looked through the cupboards for some food.

My head got shocked again.

My mom must have never gotten back from the store. These cupboards have barely any food left in them! I am going to have to conserve for a bit.

Well shit I guess everything it’s back to normal.

I settled on making cereal and poured out my tea. Sitting down at the table, I thought out a plan for the day.

Well I already know something is wrong. But what? Maybe I can go looking for someone that might know or at least talk to.

A sudden wave of loneliness washed over me.

What if I don’t find anyone to talk to? Why am I able to talk unlike everyone else? Why am I so different?

I shook off those thoughts and washed my dishes off. When I was carrying the bowl to the washer, my hand began shaking and I dropped it. It broken on the ground and shattered glass everywhere.

That was strange.

I shrugged it off and cleaned up the glass. I grabbed my backpack from last night and made my way out the door. I locked the door behind me and stared at my bike.

How do I even drive this thing?

I threw my leg over and turned it on and it rumbled to life. My head got shot with pain causing me to hold my head in my hands.

“Honey come outside!”

I walked outside of the house to see my parents holding up keys. They were both smiling with joy as my dad tossed me the keys.

“What are these for?” I asked.

“Oh... I don’t know maybe just a motorcycle!” My mom screeched out in excitement.

My eyes widened, “No way!”

They took me to the alley on the side of our house where a black Harley was parked.

My dad nudged me, “Well, wait are you waiting for? Get on it.”

I threw my leg over and sat on it while my mom took a picture.

I was snapped back into reality and noticed a lot of blood dripping from my nose.

Why the hell does this keep happening?

I wiped my nose before speeding off.

For some reason my mind told me to go to Central Park as I sped passed people on the sidewalk and wandering through the street. A lot of them took off running because they got frightened by the sound of my bike. Ten minutes later I pulled up to the park but it was covered in rebel. Most of the trees were knocked down and the grass looked burnt.

What happened here?

I got off my bike and walked along the path. A couple of times I had to climb over trees that have fallen across the trail. There was what seemed like smoke coming from some blackened trees. I stopped for a second to figure out where I wanted to go then, I heard what sounded like whimpering.

“Hello?”

There was a yelp and a barking sound. I decided to listen and follow it.

“Is anyone over here?”

There was another bark.

I turned the path to another fallen tree but this time there was a dog under it. It started barking and yelping when it saw me. It also seemed to be hurting itself the more it tried to get out to me. I walked over slowly and crouched down petting it’s fur.

I got hit with shocks and images of the dog with my neighbor.

Macy! Oh my god!

“Macy. It’s okay. I am going to help you.”

I lifted the tree enough so she slowly crawled out but she was limping. I could see a big gash on her back leg as blood was dripping down to the ground. She nearly tackled me with kisses as she licked my face until I toppled to the ground.

“You’re welcome. Let’s find a way to clean you up.” Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ ꜰindNʘvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I unzipped my bag, grabbing a jacket and wrapping it around her leg.

I guess I can carry her to my bike. She can’t be that heavy.

I bent down and picked her up but I was struggling.

Oh my god! She weighs a thousand pounds!

Struggling over to my bike, I threw my leg over and held onto to her tight as I managed to start driving.

Okay. Now we just have to get home.

Lucky, she stayed still most of the ride.

Yeah most of it. I would not recommend trying to ride a motorcycle with one hand while holding a labrador in the other.

We somehow managed to make it to the house and I laid her down on the table.

My mom is not going to my happy if it leaves a blood stain.

“Macy, stay.”

I ran upstairs to the bathroom and grabbed the first aid kit before returning to the kitchen. To my surprise Macy was still lying there on the table. She rolled onto her side as I unwrapped my jacket from her leg. The wound was still bleeding but seemed to have slowed down a bit.

I grabbed some hydrogen peroxide and poured it over the gash, making her whimper.

“Sorry. I’m just trying to help.”

I wrapped it in gauze and cleaned her leg of any blood.

That will have to do for now.

“Good girl! Macy!”

She immediately looked happy and tried to lick my face again. She jumped off the table and jumped up on my legs trying to push me down.

“Oh god! Stop you weirdo.”

She sat down and stared at me wagging her tail.

I should probably look for some food for her.

I searched the cupboards finding a can of mystery meat in the back, judging by the weird peel off top.

This thing is probably really old but it is the closest thing to dog food we are going to get.

When the top was popped open I almost gagged at the smell but managed to put it into a bowl. I placed the bowl on the ground and Macy instantly began eating it.

She must have been hungry. I would have eaten that even if it was the last thing on earth.

I decided to leave her be as I went into the living room and flopped on the couch. After a few minutes of staring at the ceiling, Macy curled up at my feet. I looked down at her, “You had to mess up all of plans today. I was going to figure out what is happening. Maybe even find someone to talk to.”

She just nuzzled her head more into my leg and closed her eyes.

Well I guess I am staying home today.

I reached down and patted her head, “At least I have you for company now.”

She moved up closer to me on the couch. My slowly eyes closed and I drifted to sleep with her curled up next to me.
