Chapter 33 The Sacred Plant

The council were gathered once again to try to understand what the witches wanted with the sacred plant. It was the last of its kind and that is why it was so protected in that part of the garden. They had concluded that Luna's pack had been targeted when the witches thought that they were in possession of the sacred plant and unfortunately Luna's parents were set up and put to take the fall for their mistake.

What could they want with the plant and how did they know that the plant was with the full moon pack and let alone the location of the plant? Only the king and his government were privy to that information and still no one knew of the ability of the plant. They wondered whether the witches knew something that they did not. One thing was for sure. They had tried to kill Luca and Luna and this was not going to go unpunished.

Lucian stepped forward and spoke. “I think that whoever is behind what is happening here is connected to what happened in my pack all those years ago. It looks like they have been trying to find this plant for quite some time and have been infiltrating packs to do so. Unfortunately, my family fell to their tactics and today I almost lost my niece again. We need to go to this place I will try to catch a scent and haunt down this person.”

“I completely agree. I will not stand by and have our entire race be threatened by lowly witches. My son was almost killed today. I will not stand for this” Lucas’ Father shouted with fury. His eyes turned orange as if on fire. Something that barely happened. He roared with anger and then settled as the meeting continued. “Luca is the best tracker we have but he is still resting. I propose we wait until the morning and take him to the plant to try to get a scent. Once he has it, he will not lose it. We will find those responsible and eradicate this threat as we have done to all those who have tried to destroy us. “We need to know what they want with the plant. I thought that its existence was only known to our kind. When Hecate touched the plant, it turned to poison and killed her sister. Selene was beside herself with grief and held the plant to also die as she was so close to her sister but instead the plant brought back her sister. Realizing how dangerous the plant was she took it and flew down to earth and placed it in the care of her descendants the Lycans. In their hands it healed. We have kept it safe for a millennium. This is all I know. No one knows what the witches want with it but if in the hands of Selene, it became a healing plant then What do you think will happen if the servants of Hecate get their hands on it? Ancestors have tried to destroy the plant but their efforts were in vain. We cannot destroy it so we need to eradicate the forces who try to use it for evil.” The elder revealed

“Then we should not leave the plant unguarded. We need to take turns to guard it until we can get rid of the threat may the goddess be with us and grant us success in this crucial time.” Luca's father said. “I will take the first watch with Lucian. Father you rest and send the betas to watch luca and Luna. The moon will be full in two days by then we should be able to use the wolves as well in this fight.” They all agreed, bowed down to the alphas and left to fulfil their duties. Lucian thought of nothing but bringing those witches to an end. They went straight to the garden and he saw the plant for the first time. He realized that it was missing a branch and that was when they realized that it had been compromised.
