Something in the Land of Shadows

The group went deeper and deeper into the forest and the forest became scarier and scarier. The trees look sick and dead plus there is no life whatsoever and the smell in the forest was unpleasant. It smelled like meat but was out too long and it spoiled. Both Peter and Raine cover their noses while Cumba and Torbo are used to it by too many quests. It was silent and you heard your own heart beat by how quiet it was. Torbo stopped and so did everyone else as they saw a pile of bones but not just any normal bones but mold, moss, ripped clothes that look old and some scorch on some bones like something burning them.

“What happened here?” Ask Peter while he has this bad feeling about this place.Before anyone answered Peter’s question, a low growl came from the trees. Everyone draws out their weapons while Raine expands her wings and holds her staff as the ball glows green. For Peter, he has the shield out and ready while holding the elf sword, and both Cumba and Torbo had their axes out. They scan the area till something moves in the pitch black trees then red eyes appear with a low growl. They look at the red eyes as it moves higher, almost taller than the trees, then move forward as if it was a dragon, but not just a regular dragon but a female dragon.

“Blimey, bless my red beard!” Cumba’s voice cracked out in fear. “That is a female dragon!”

“Blimey, you are right Cumba!” Said Torbo as they stood their ground while looking up at the dragon.The dragon growled again and open its mouth and starts breathing fire at the group, but they scatter. Raine flew in the sky, Cumba and Torbo run behind some trees while Peter held his shield out while the blaze hits the shield as it was blocking the fire blaze from harming Peter. Closing its mouth while moving her body, her tail swing under Peter’s feet as he falls down to the ground. She moves her head towards Peter with her mouth open, but he holds out his shield and swings his elf sword around as it cut the dragon’s face. With a hiss she back away before swinging her claw hand she knocked the elf sword out of Peter’s hand.

“Peter!” Raine called out while she flew down and used green flames on the dragon and the dragon hissed and swung her tail while hitting Raine down to the ground.

“Hey over here you oversize lizard!” Torbo yelled while slamming his axe against his shield.The dragon shook her head and turned her attention to Torbo while roaring softly while Torbo kept on hitting his shield. Cumba came from behind the dragon and jumped on her back while stabbing her back with his axe and she gasped with a growl from the pain and turned around trying to get Cumba off her back. Raine stood up and started using her magic on the dragon to make it sleepy while Peter slowly stood up while watching them harm the dragon till he saw something move in the corner of his eye. Walking over to the movement while the others are keeping the dragon occupied once he spots what was moving. It was two baby black dragons with red eyes, looking up at Peter with fear. Everything made since why the forest is so dark, the trees look sick and why it smells like death. This forest became a nest for the dragon and she killed what it used to live in it. Peter turned around and saw that vines were keeping the dragon down and both Cumba and Torbo had their axe up in the air ready to cut the dragon head off.

“STOP!” Peter yelled while running over and pulled out the sword that Filly gave to him. In a flash of white light, the vines were gone, and it pushed Torbo and Cumba back and Raine to look at Peter with wide eyes. Peter stood in front of the dragon with his sword pointing at them and his shield back on his back. Cumba and Torbo sat up and looked at Peter like he was crazy but soon softened. When they saw the two baby dragons run over to their mother, that was hurt and bleeding from her back. Everyone knows why now the Lands of Shadows become darker, because there is a family of dragons here. Cumba and Torbo lower their axes while Raine looks at the baby dragons that are underneath their mother while the mother dragon lowers her head and nuzzles her snout on her babes.

“So that’s why there is a quest about the Land of Shadows. Because the mother dragon was taking care of her babes.” Said Torbo with a soft voice.

“Yeah, but how do we put this on the quest board?” Cumba asked while Raine thought of something and smiled.

“How about we say there is nothing wrong with the forest, but it’s just sick so no one can come into the forest?” Raine said her idea as the others agreed and Peter looked up at the mother dragon.

“Sorry about that, and no one will ever bother you ever again.” Peter told the mother dragon as she lower head to his height.

“Thank you.” She said in his mind as Peter smiled up at her.With a shake of her head, she walked off with the two baby dragons to follow their mother into the deep dark forest where you can’t see them anymore. Raine stood beside Peter and looked at him with wonder eyes and something else and she had a smile planted on her face.
