She was determined to suppress her desire to shop and not buy anything.
“I want to buy a bag. Let’s go over there. Tell me which one you like, and I can buy it for you!”
“No, there’s no need. I have one.”
Alexandra followed Emery toward the bag section.
Alexandra deliberately slowed down to keep in line with Emery.
Alexandra knew that Emery had a strong character. Therefore, she would not want Alexandra to support her deliberately. Alexandra knew if she did that, Emery would think she was looking down on her. It would also make Emery feel uneasy,
They walked into a store called N&Y which sold women’s bags.
The bags sold here were all of the socialite styles. All of them were very dazzling. Even Alexandra was attracted by all the bags. What she didn’t know was that the bags were all limited editions.
The saleswoman walked over with a smile on her face. The members of staff there were all experienced. They could tell how much a customer had and who would be the target customer at a glance.
The saleswoman glanced at Alexandra and smiled even wider at Emery. “Is there anything I can do for the two of you?”
Emery held Alexandra’s hand and said to the saleswoman, “We want to look at what bags you’ve got.”
The saleswoman pointed at the cabinet at one side and said, “These are all the latest bags released this autumn. This autumn, the lead designer of N&Y designed three bags. Does any of them suit your liking?”
Alexandra walked forward and looked at the bags in the cabinet.
The bags were all light purple, and there were cloud veils on the bags as well. It was the first time that Alexandra had seen. such a beautiful bag.
Especially the bag at the center of the cabinet. It was a small square bag. There was a cartoon–style face on the left side.
However, it was only half a face.
The face was also covered by a light purple gauze.
The cartoon–style face was simple but smooth. The girl had her eyes closed. She was arrogant but beautiful.
The saleswoman could tell that Alexandra liked the bag and said, “This is a popular bag released by N&Y’s lead designer. However, there are only 50 of them in the whole world. This is the only one in Highclere City. It was flown in this morning.”
“Oh, thank you. It’s gorgeous,” said Alexandra.
“If you like it, Miss, I can wrap it up for you.”
“No, there’s no need.” Alexandra quickly waved her hands. She couldn’t possibly afford it.
Emery walked over with a smile and said to the saleswoman, “We’ll take it. Wrap it up for her.”
She was going to give it to Alexandra as a gift.
Alexandra quickly waved her hands. “No, I was just having a look at it.”
“It’s an enrollment gift for you. It really suits your style. So take it!” said Emery.

At that moment, neither of them noticed a few girls standing at the entrance. They had already been standing there for al couple of minutes.
It was Martha and her friends.
Martha was the first to walk over. She was wearing a pair of four–inch high heels. Her red dress was also dazzling.
“Hey! It looks like N&Y is lowering its standards. They’re letting just anyone in their stores. It was obvious that Martha was laughing at Alexandra.
Seeing Martha and her friends, Alexandra and Emery’s faces both darkened.
“Why are we always running into them?” wondered Martha and Alexandra.
Alexandra rolled her eyes. “That’s right. They’ve let you in, haven’t they?”
“I’m N&Y’s VIP. They’ll always welcome me.” Martha pointed at the bag that Alexandra liked and asked. “Do you know how much this bag costs? Ms. Walters can afford it, but you can’t, Alexandra. Ms. Walters, will you give the bag to your poor friend as charity?”
“You!” Emery couldn’t bear Martha’s insult toward Alexandra.
After what Martha had said, if Emery bought the bag for Alexandra, then she would be giving the bag to Alexandra as charity.
Alexandra grabbed Emery’s hand and shook her head. Then, she said to Martha, “If you want it, we’ll let you have it.”
Martha pretended to be in a panic. “I’m not someone to take what others love. Since Ms. Doherty likes this bag, then it’s
yours.”
Another girl added, “If you want it, just pay for it! If you like it, then take it! We girls have to treat ourselves well. Miss, wrap the bag up for her!”
They were rushing Alexandra to do something, putting her in a difficult position.
If Alexandra didn’t buy the bag, they would laugh at her.
Emery began looking for her purse and was about to buy the bag for Alexandra.
However, Martha was determined to make fun of Alexandra to get her revenge for what happened last time.
Alexandra looked at the bag. It was true that she quite liked it, but she felt that it was just a bag. Moreover, it would cost tens of thousands of dollars.
She could use the card that Peter gave her.
She waved her hand and said, “I’ll take it. Wrap it up for me.
Martha and her friends looked at each other. They were all waiting for Alexandra to embarrass herself.
Kelly walked over and said to Martha, “Martha, don’t force Ms. Doherty to do this. She doesn’t have to buy the bag if she doesn’t want to.”
“How do you know she can’t afford it? She can even get into the University of Highclere. So how can she not afford an N&Y bag?”
Alexandra glared at them and began looking for her purse.
After going through her bag. Alexandra began dumbfounded.
She had forgotten the card Peter had given her.

She only had the pocket money card that Julian had given her earlier.
Martha had seen the expression on Alexandra’s face. She quickly walked over, took the golden card from Alexandra’s purse. and handed it to the saleswoman. “Here you go. This young lady is going to take the bag.”
Alexandra felt her head ringing.
She felt she was going to be embarrassed.
Emery was going to take out her card, but the saleswoman seemed to be on Martha’s side and had already brought over the card machine.
There was a beeping sound.
The room became silent for a while.
The saleswoman was dumbfounded when she saw the words “Payment Successful.”
The card machine had already printed out the receipt for the transaction.
Alexandra was stunned as well. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
She was expecting the card machine to display the words “Payment Failed.”
Everyone had the same expression on their faces.
They were all shocked and couldn’t believe what they saw either. What had just happened was not expected by anyone at all.
That was because they knew that the bag might look simple, but it would cost at least 200 thousand dollars.
How could Alexandra have so much money on her card?
The saleswoman smiled awkwardly. She passed the receipt and pen to Alexandra respectfully. “Please sign here, Miss.”
Alexandra trembled as she took the pen and receipt.
She saw that the bag had taken 576 thousand dollars from the card.
This caused Alexandra to feel ill.
She had only been at work for two weeks, but the bag had cost her two months‘ wages.
Martha saw that she didn’t embarrass Alexandra, so she could only say, “Ms. Doherty, looks like you’re better off than we know. Sign the receipt. N&Y doesn’t accept refunds.”
Alexandra had no choice but to sign her name. She felt helpless.
In the end, she tried to comfort herself. She would go home, find Peter’s card, and pay Julian back before he noticed the
money was gone.
Instead of embarrassing Alexandra, Martha herself was embarrassed.
Therefore, they didn’t stick around. When they got to the door, one of the girls asked Martha, “How could a bumpkin like her have so much money? This doesn’t sound right at all.”
“She must have a sugar daddy now. She’s good–looking, isn’t she? Some rich guys like her innocent look.”
When Alexandra heard what they were saying, she wanted to rush over and beat them up.
However, after what happened last time, she didn’t dare cause any more trouble.
