Chapter 30 

“How did she spend so much money? I thought she said she wouldn’t spend recklessly,” thought Julian. 

However, he was a little curious. What did Alexandra buy? 

In the afternoon. 

When Alexandra returned with the bag she had bought, she felt like she was carrying a bomb. 

The worst was yet to come as well. Walking through the door, she saw Julian sitting on the sofa, working on his laptop.

It was as if she had bumped into something that made her unhappy while shopping. 

When she saw the man in the living room, Alexandra trembled for no reason. 

“Mr. Ranford, you’re home.” 

“Yes. What did you buy?” Julian looked at the bag in Alexandra’s hand. He paused when he saw the N&Y logo. 

Alexandra subconsciously hid the bag behind her. 

“Nothing.” 

“Nothing?” Julian’s hands left the keyboard and looked at the young lady who was trying to hide something. “If you didn’t buy anything, then where did you spend almost 600 thousand dollars? How much were you planning on spending?” 

As soon as Alexandra heard those words, she knew she was in big trouble. 

She thought that Julian was going to be mad. 

Alexandra quickly backed up a few steps and explained, “Listen to me, Mr. Ranford. I initially didn’t want to buy anything. but I bumped into… No, I didn’t know it was that expensive. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring the bank card that Peter gave me. I only had the one you gave me. I thought it was just around 10 thousand dollars. I wouldn’t have bought it if I had known that it was so expensive. My heart’s aching as well. I’ll head to the bank now and transfer the money to your card. Just give me some time.” 

Hearing Alexandra desperately trying to explain, Julian realized that she thought he was blaming her for what she did. 

She seemed to be trying to cover something up. 

He placed the laptop aside and reached out a hand. “Here, let me have a look at what you bought.” 

Alexandra pursed her lips and walked over awkwardly. She didn’t want to tell Julian that she had bought the bag because she was trying to be arrogant. 

She passed the bag to Julian and explained in a small voice. This bag is so expensive.” 

Julian took the bag and took out the N&Y bag that was inside. 

Then, his eyes darkened. 

“I can’t believe she chose this bag, thought Julian. 

He hid the shock in his eyes and said casually, “Not a bad choice. It looks good. It suits you.”

“Shouldn’t he scold me for having a bad style and wasting money?” wondered Alexandra. 

She looked at Julian and realized that he didn’t seem angry. 

Alexandra walked over and said cautiously. “Really? Do you think the bag is quite nice as well? I liked it as soon as I saw it. I just didn’t expect it to be so expensive.” 

With that said, she pursed her lips again. 

Julian looked at the picture on the bag and said to her, “Rumors say that the lead designer of N&Y had a benefactor he could never forget. That benefactor was a little girl, so the designer used her as a theme and designed many products. You’ve chosen the one he had put the most effort into.” 

His voice was indifferent, but there seemed to be a mixture of feelings in his eyes. 

Alexandra didn’t know much about what Julian was talking about. She nodded and said, “So there’s such a story behind this bag. No wonder I found the girl on the bag so beautiful. Looks like she’s a kind young lady like me.” 

Julian was rendered speechless. 

“The designer had a lot of ways to repay his benefactor. So why did he choose to make so many bags?” 

“That’s because the designer has never found his benefactor. Neither has he seen what she looked like. He’s wondering if the girl could recognize him through these bags, and maybe one day, they could still meet.” Julian was lost in his own emotions. He seemed to have gone back to the day the two of them met. 

“It’s such a touching story! The designer must be a very kind person as well. However, has he lost his mind? It’s so expensive! What if the young lady couldn’t afford it? Then she would never know that the person she had saved is looking for her. It’s just too expensive. Mr. Ranford, it’s so expensive!” 

Julian was rendered speechless once again. 

He placed the bag back into its packaging and glanced at Alexandra. “That young lady’s very rich. She can afford it.” 

“Oh…” 

Alexandra didn’t know what to say. 

She was poor and had no right to take part in this conversation. 

She could be said as the poorest. 

A small bag could take her life. 

“I don’t know about the life of rich people like you.” Alexandra took the bag that Julian handed back to her. It was too expensive, so she decided to treasure it. 

She suddenly thought of something as soon as she was returning to her room. She turned around. “Mr. Ranford… well, do you know the owner of N&Y?” 

Julian looked at her. 

“Well… can you tell him to give me a refund, and I’ll return the bag to them?” 

“Alexandra Doherty!” Julian’s voice was cold. 

“Alright, alright! Forget it! I’ll keep it, alright? I’ll only buy one of these in my whole life! I’ll go make the transfer now!” 

Alexandra accepted her fate.. 

She could only make a million dollars by marrying in someone else’s place.

A bag already halved it. 

Well, it was more than half. 

Alexandra felt her heart bleeding. 

“Keep it. You don’t need to transfer the money to me.”

After hearing what Julian had said, Alexandra turned around excitedly. However, she was a little confused at the thought of Julian spending so much for her for no reason. He had no reason to do so. 

Alexandra bit her lip. “Mr. Ranford, 600 thousand dollars might not be a lot to you, but I can’t take advantage of you. You’ve already given me a lot. So I’ll need to pay you back.” 

Julian had his back to her. He was about to continue working. When he heard Alexandra’s serious voice and how respectful she was toward him, he felt a little annoyed. 

“Do whatever you want then,” he said. 

Alexandra didn’t say anything else. Instead, she returned to her room with the bag in her hands. 

Julian picked up the phone by his side and sent the text notification he received to Marco. He then gave Marco a call. “Marco, send me this morning’s surveillance footage of the N&Y store.” 

“Okay, right away, Mr. Ranford.” 

It didn’t take long before Alexandra came back out of her room. She then said goodbye to Julian and left the house. 

It was obvious that she was going to make the transfer. 

Another half an hour had passed. Marco had sent the most important footage from the surveillance cameras to Julian’s personal email. 

After watching the video, he realized that someone had forced Alexandra to buy the bag. Moreover, what Martha and her friends were talking about when they left the store was also picked up and recorded. 

“I’m her sugar daddy? 

“Am I that old?” wondered Julian. 

“Alexandra didn’t go reason with them because she was involved in a fight at university a few days ago. 

“I wonder how she was able to hold back her anger.” 

Julian somehow pitied Alexandra. 

She was only his partner and his nominal wife. 

However, he could not sit back and do nothing when he saw she was humiliated. 

Therefore, he dialed an international call.
