Lucian had decided to take matters into his hands when he noticed that his Luna would not let him touch her belly and so, as he got into Lyra’s room, he has made up his mind that he was going to rub on her stomach and see what she was hiding. After rubbing on her stomach, he would tell her to undress herself in front of him. Today, he was going to get to the root of everything.

“My darling Luna. I really want to touch my son. I am sorry I haven’t been the best father or husband so far. I was always away on missions and meetings but now, I am here. I wish to touch your belly and communicate with my son” he said to her.

“Please let me do this”

He could see the fear and nervousness in Lyra’s eyes. She looked like he had asked her to kill herself for him. He wondered what she must have done to make her act that way in front of her.

“But Alpha, I insist, we should do this afterwards. This is not the time, in my opinion. You have a meeting and you are heading this gathering” she said to him as she slowly backed him.

“But that should not stop me touching my mate’s belly. It will only be for a few minutes, I will not be here for a full day” he said to Lyra as he got closer to her. His hand had almost touched her belly when she slapped his hand and told him no.

“No! Stop!!” She screamed at him. “Get away from me!”

Lucian became more confused. It was much more than he imagined. She was definitely hiding something and it had to be something very serious for her to have slapped his hands.

“Why?! Why are you stopping me from touching your belly?!” He said to her as he started to get upset. It was beginning to upset.

“I said no. You will do this when you and I return from your meeting. That should be enough reason for you.” She said to him.

Lucian didn’t listen to what she was saying, instead he looked at her for a few seconds and then decided he was going to touch her stomach regardless. He stepped towards her again, this time, he would get her.

He was about to grab her arm and touch her stomach when someone knocked on her door.

“Luna. Please may I come in?” Someone called out.

That stopped him as he paused in his movement. He turned to the door as he turned back to look at her face, “Are you expecting anyone?” She nodded her head as answered him, “the maids and guards are suppose to help me get ready for the gathering. Alpha, Don’t you remember?”

Lucian nodded. She was right and time for the gathering was dreaming near. He was to be the first speaker at that meeting and so, he had to go and prepare fully. –

“I’ll leave you to it then. I will be back after the ceremony. Expect me this night” he said to her as he turned his back and walked to the door. His steps were unlike his. The Alpha she knew was swift and pronounced but unfortunately, he dragged his feet.

Lucian opened the door and found Aiden staring at him. Aiden always. reminded him of Nadia and how He had allowed them kill her because of

his rage. He felt terrible about it and sometimes, he would have nightmares about it.

Lucian had avoided being in the same space since Nadia’s death. He didn’t. feel comfortable with him and Aiden being left together because he knew that partially, he was guilty for her death. He resented himself for that and always tried to avoid her brother.

“What are you doing here?” He said to Aiden. Aiden didn’t blink as he stood before the Alpha. He looked like he was face to face with his enemy.

“I came to get your Luna. I am her escort to the ceremony you are suppose. to attend. I am expected to protect her through out the ceremony” Aiden said to the Alpha.

“Is there no one else to guard her? Must it be you who guards her?” He said. to Aiden.

“Well. I am your most trained warrior and I have never lost in single combat with anyone. There would be a lot of packs and stranger faces at your meeting. Wouldn’t you rather I protect her than for someone who is not as skilled at war like I am??” Aiden said to him. “I will do as you command, Alpha”

Lucian was about to say another word when Lyra came to the door. She gently pushed aside her mate and spoke to Aiden. She asked him if he had brought the things she had asked of him and he said yes.

Yes, Luna. I have them ready at the dinner table. Shall I go bring them?” He answered.

Lyra then turned to her mate and smiled at him as she asked him to excuse them.

“Aiden and I have to prepafs for your ceremony. Please excuse us, we have limited time” Lyra said.

Lucian shifted his gaze from Lyra to Aiden for the last time as he prayed. silently that nothing happened to his mate while she was in the hands of Aiden.

“I shall see both of you at the ceremony. Make sure you take care of my mate, Aiden” he said to Aiden.

Aiden smiled and nodded. As the Alpha made his way past him, he midway bow and then turned to watch him leave.

Aiden then turned to Lyra and smiled at her.

“I brought the items, are you ready?”

“Yes, I am. Let’s do this” she answered back.
