Chapter 2 Relatively Advanced Stage
After an unknown amount of time had passed, Yves slowly woke up.
Upon awakening, he felt a wave of pain. His back and head seemed injured, and he lay on the ground for a moment before slowly sitting up. He adjusted the cloth on his head, covering his eyes, and then felt around his surroundings.
He couldn’t find his white cane, and as he touched the ground, he realized he was likely by the roadside. However, he had no clear idea of his exact location.
Just when Yves was feeling a bit perplexed…

A Maybach stopped beside him, and inside the car, a stunning woman sat in the back seat. She wore a white dress, her legs crossed, and holding a photo between her long and slender fingers. With large eyes, she scanned back and forth between the photo and Yves outside the car window. The burly bodyguard in the driver’s seat furrowed his brow and said, “Ms. Simmons, maybe we perhaps make a mistake? He looks like a blind man!”
Valentina Simmons looked at the photo and recalled her grandfather’s instructions.
“Yves is a Medical Guru. He saved my life.
“He’s engaged to Zoey from the Lewis family in Haven City, but from what I know about the Lewis family, those scoundrels are likely to break the engagement. You need to find him to resolve your
current troubles!”
With these thoughts in mind, she furrowed her brow.
She knew how big her troubles were right now, and the person before her didn’t seem like someone who could help her solve it.
“I’ll find out after testing him,” Valentina said with a charming voice.
She opened the car door and approached Yves. Then, she squatted down and asked, “Are Collins?”
Yves looked up and asked, “Who are you?”

“Hello, I’m Valentina. I’ve heard of your exceptional medical skills. My close friend is suffering from a terminal illness, and no one has been able to help her for a long time. Mr. Collins, could you please treat her?” Valentina asked.
In the driver’s seat, the bodyguard observed this scene, hesitant to speak.
In their search for Yves, they had invested a lot of effort. They first went to the rural village where Yves lived, gathering information and learning that Yves had no parents and was raised by his grandfather, an herbalist who used herbs to treat colds, coughs, and even sick livestock.
He didn’t think a miracle doctor would do such work.
Moreover, from what she had learned, Yves had been a helper for his grandfather and had little formal education, and he later even lost his sight.
Yves‘ head was covered in dried blood, and he wore cheap clothing. Valentina thought, “How could a miracle doctor end up like this?”
“I can help,” Yves said, “But in exchange, I hope you can give me a ride back to where I live later.” “No problem!” Valentina readily agreed. She didn’t mind Yves‘ dirty clothes and helped him into the car.
“You seem to be injured.” Valentina observed as they got into the car.

“Yes, I was bitten by a dog, but it’s not a big deal,” Yves replied, “Please take me to the patient!”
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a luxurious standalone villa. Valentina helped Yves out of the car, and the bodyguard sighed as he watched them enter the villa.
At Haven Hospital, in a VIP room, Patrick and Zoey arrived with a fruit basket.
“Grandpa, I’ve come to see you!” Zoey said with a sweet smile.
In the room was Theodore, the Chairman of the Lewis Group in Haven City.
Seeing Zoey enter, he said cheerfully, “Why didn’t you bring Yves with you? I heard he came to fulfill the engagement.”
At this point, Patrick spoke up, “Mr. Lewis, you must be mistaken. That guy is just a rural bumpkin, and he’s blind. How could you entrust Zoey’s happiness to someone like him?”
Theodore’s expression darkened when he heard this. “Zoey, who is this…”
Zoey quickly explained, “Grandpa, this is my high school classmate, Patrick. He now has his own e–commerce company in Haven City worth billions of dollars, and you must have heard about the news of the Simmons family from Avalon City coming to invest in Haven City. Patrick is their business partner.”
Patrick added, “Yes, Mr. Lewis, with the Simmons family’s support, I believe my company will become one of the top companies in Haven City in less than ten years. E–commerce is the future.”
Coughing, he continued, “Actually, there’s something I need to tell you. I’ve been pursuing Zoey for years, and recently, I’ve managed to win her over. Zoey’s parents also agreed, but the issue of the engagement has been hanging over us, so we haven’t dared to tell you.”
“Zoey won’t marry you,” Theodore said calmly, “Zoey can only marry Yves.”
“Grandpa, I won’t marry that bumpkin. Before coming to see you, I had already negotiated a cancellation of the engagement with him, and I tore up his letter,” Zoey said.
Theodore’s breathing became rapid when he heard this, and his hand trembled as he pointed at Zoey. “You… You… You…”
But he couldn’t say the rest of his words. His entire body stiffened, and he immediately lost consciousness.
In a huge villa that resembled an estate, Valentina supported Yves and softly said, “Steps!”
Yves looked up and walked step by step into the villa.
“Valentina, you’re here!” A middle–aged woman greeted them with joy, “Who is this…”
Valentina smiled and said, “This is the miracle doctor I found for Ruby.”
The middle–aged woman looked at Yves‘ appearance with a furrowed brow.
Although Yves had wiped his face with a piece of paper and water in the car, his face was still bruised, and his clothes had stains and bloodstains.
However, the middle–aged woman seemed to trust Valentina and didn’t say much. She smiled and said, “Ruby is receiving treatment in her room. We’ve brought in a top traditional doctor.”
“Take us to see her,” Valentina requested.
The middle–aged woman nodded and led them upstairs to a large bedroom.
Inside the room, a weary–looking beautiful woman lay on the bed, covered with thick blankets despite the summer weather. Her eyes seemed vacant, filled with despair.

Lincoln Gomez and an elderly man in a long robe were sitting nearby, engaged in conversation.
“Mr. Gomez, Ms. Gomez’s ALS has already reached a relatively advanced stage, and I’m afraid there’s not much I can do.”
“They say you’re the most outstanding doctor in all of Eastville!” Lincoln hurriedly said, “As long as you can cure my daughter, I’m willing to give you everything, including all the assets of the Gomez family.”
“This is a terminal illness! I can only prescribe some treatments to slow down the progression, but…”
“Can ALS be cured?” When he was halfway through his sentence, Valentina looked at Yves and asked.
“Yes,” Yves said in a calm tone.
Their conversation caught the attention of the two people in the room.
Lincoln looked up and, upon seeing Valentina, hesitated for a moment. He then said, “Valentina, when did you arrive?”
Valentina helped Yves walk into the room and seated him on the sofa before greeting Lincoln. She said, “Mr. Gomez, I just arrived. This is the miracle doctor I found for Ruby.”
After saying that, she approached the bedside and looked at the woman lying there. A hint of sadness appeared in her eyes as she said, “Ruby.”
The elderly man in the long robe scrutinized Yves up and down, chuckled lightly, and said, “Miracle doctor? Did you just say you can treat ALS?”
Yves nodded again. “Yes.”
The elderly man sneered, “ALS is a terminal illness. Both alternative medicine and modern. medicine cannot cure it. Are you trained in alternative medicine or modern medicine?”
“Alternative medicine,” Yves replied calmly.
“Alternative medicine?” The elderly man in the long robe sneered again, “Alternative medicine. relies on experience, and that’s why exceptional traditional doctors are usually older. You’re only
your twenties or thirties!”

He continued, “And judging by your appearance, you seem to be blind. Alternative medicine emphasizes the initial observation of the patient, but you can’t even use your eyes to assess the patient’s condition!”

Yves paid no attention to him and calmly asked, “May I take a look?”
Upon hearing the elderly man’s words, both Valentina and Lincoln furrowed their brows.
Valentina looked at Yves and said calmly, “Ruby is the closest person to me. You’ll have a hard time if you’re an incompetent doctor or a fraud.”
Yves nodded.
Lincoln hesitated.
At this moment, Ruby, on the bed, spoke, “Anyway, I’m going to die. It’s just a matter of dying sooner or later. Let him try!”

Lincoln was taken aback, a trace of pain flashing in his eyes. He looked at Yves with a glimmer of hope and nodded. “Then go ahead and try.”
Valentina helped Yves to the bedside, and Yves took a deep breath before speaking in a calm tone, “Could you please take off the patient’s clothes?”
