The Talamute Prince
Chapter 28

Without any port to the outside world. I've lost track of time. This room reminds me of being trapped floating in space after destroying all those innocent lives. To be honest every time the door opens, and Patrick enters the room I long for the emptiness of space.

I'm not sure how long I've been in here, but at this point I need a bath. I sit on the side of my bed waiting for him to come through the door with breakfast. If my calculations are correct it's been at least three days. Most of which I spent in a recovery stage due to his attempts to touch me in ways I didn't want.

"Good morning, Laoonica." His voice says as the normal group of servants' swarm in to set up everything then stand to the right just inside the door.

"Good morning, your majesty. May I venture to refresh myself, please." I wanted to get it out before he had the chance to do something to activate my powers.

"I'm not sure you've earned that." I turn to see his disgusting glare.

"And what do I have to do to earn that privilege." Not that using the bathroom was an option it was going to come no matter what he said or did at this point. I'm not exactly sure how I haven't gone already. I guess that part of my body shuts down in my healing state.

"You're well rested and very strong at this point. Letting you out and about in the castle isn't going to happen." He shuffles in his seat knowing I have no choice but to do as he says. Trapped in the room they had managed to design to hold me.

"So, you want me to exert my powers? I can't control my powers to that extent." I've tried several times to pull back after I start blazing but it never works.

"Bring in a patient." He says to one of the guards by the door. He turns goes out the door while we continue to eat. I keep my expression as emotionless as possible. He doesn't say anything else but a few moments later the guard brings in a woman covered in soars.

"What's wrong with her?" I had never seen anything like it. I stand and walk over to her.

"It's chemical burns due to her position in our community. She and many others get these for the proximity to the engine core. Unfortunately, we haven't found a source of power that doesn't have a negative effect on something around us." I glance at her wounds touching her fingertips I lose my breath for a moment. I can feel so much more than just the soars wrong with her.

"If I heal her, I won't be able to stand after. There will be no way for me to bathe myself." An evil grin spreads across his lips.

"You will heal her until your strength is clearly weakened then you'll be pulled away. There is no shortage of sick in the lower engine rooms. At any point you seem to regain strength you will be forced to heal her, or I'll cut her throat in front of you." He remains in his seat.

"You're evil." I stand my ground refusing to heal her at first. He throws his napkin on his plate quickly closing the space between us. He pulls out his sword and walks around behind her putting it to her throat. I watch a thin line of blood form as the blade is pushed harder into her throat. I reach up taking her hand into mine allowing the soft healing glow to flow to her. He puts his sword back into its sheath. He then watches me very closely. The others including the guard holding her are in awe as her surface wounds begin to heal. As the last cut, the one that Patrick had just made, closed I couldn't hold myself up and we were jerked away from each other. The guard had pulled her away, I however, found myself trapped in Patrick's arms.

"See how much easier things are when you do as you're told." I couldn't push myself away from him. He held on to me as we walked out the door. My mind rushed at the thought he was going to be the one holding me to help me get clean. We made our way down to my original room and the door opened to Heather, Marcy, and a girl I had never seen waiting with my things to help me bathe.

"Your bath is ready, your majesty." I didn't argue the fact that he handed me off to the women. The male guards were placed outside the door. I watch as the door closes and Patrick walk out to the balcony.

"Where is Tasha?" I ask looking at Heather.

"She is alive, but we are forbidden to speak to you about her." I don't push the issue. I've seen all too well what he does to those who don't give in to what he wants.

I watch the curtains as I'm led to the toilet then the bath. I climb in allowing the warm water to relax my muscles and raise just below my chin. Marcy takes a pitcher, dips it into the water, then pours it over my head as she begins to wash my hair. The girl I didn't know had a new dress for me to wear as she spun around and hung it on the dressing wall, I stare at it. It's dreadfully dull. Solid black isn't something I would ever consider wearing. My heart hurts I close my eyes as I feel myself being washed.

"Don't fall asleep my pet." I open my eyes and see Patrick take a step back.

I'm not sure why. I look at my hands, but they aren't glowing. "I've never seen your eyes glow like that." he walks over to my vanity and grabs a small hand mirror. I take it from him and look at my eyes.

"There's nothing wrong with my eyes." Whatever he had seen wasn't present.

"The blue of your eyes looked like flames. Heal her again." Patrick motioned for the ill woman to approach again.

"May I dress first?" I stay hidden below the bubbles. I had no choice in rather he saw me nude at this point but If I passed out from healing her at least no one would have to dress me or carry my naked body back up to my cell.

"Make it fast. I don't trust your powers to be back at full strength. I look over at my bed. there was movement under it. I watch but couldn't make out much due to the limited light reaching beneath it. I glance at the others and it seems no one else notice that someone or something was under the huge bed.

"I would prefer if it was only my maids helping me dress, please." Patrick came to the side of the tube and gripped my arm jerking me up to my feet. I slipped a bit trying to get my feet on the bottom of the bath, but he continues to lift me up and out of the water.

"You're my wife. I've seen every inch of you." The water dripped down my body. Streams of liquid cooled as it ran down my bare skin into puddles on the floor.

"You're hurting me." I try in vein to pull away. Then when he won't let go, I allow my entire body to heat up. He releases me as steam rises from ever part of me and I dry myself with my powers.

"That's not a wise move." He waits till the steam stops then with the back of his hand he knocks me to the floor. I now see a face at the edge of the bed just within the light. There must be more than one person under the bed as I see Darevan's face start to dart out, but a hand grips his shoulder and pulls him back. Darevan doesn't give in to the force but tries to move against it.

"I was drying myself. It isn't my fault you wouldn't let go." I sit with my hands holding me off the floor my legs bent, but not under me, as I star back at Patrick. I didn't want him to know the Talamute were hiding under my bed.

"Heal her." He has the guard force the woman to her knees beside me. The guard rests a blade across her throat.

"Do you like the fact the guard is viewing me this way?" Patrick glances from me to the guard.

"Close your eyes." The guard does as he is told, "You there get her dress on her now." The new girl rushes to grab my undergarments and dress helping me to my feet and aiding in adorning my outfit. Now that I'm dressed Patrick grips my arm and pushes me down beside the still kneeling woman.

"I'm sorry." she whispers as I place my hand on hers.

"This isn't your fault. It's mine for being stupid and naive." I concentrate on her most dyer wounds closing my eyes. I see inside her as if following the passageways to her infected parts.

"That's amazing." I hear the new girl say. I hadn't caught her name, nor did I really want to. It seemed anyone I tried to get close to ended up used against me. Not that this woman I was healing meant less because of not knowing her name; but it hurt worse when I put time into being friends with someone. I felt my body begin to drain and as it did, she was jerked away. She still had so much wrong inside her, I had barely scratched the surface of healing her illness.

"Stand up." Patrick demands. I look under my bed to see Darevan being held in place. There is an anger in his eyes, but it isn't directed at me. He is giving a death stare to Patrick. He turns back at me as I'm jerked to my feet unable to stand, I stumble back to the ground. I see Darevan tear up and turn away as he is pulled by an unseen accomplice back into the darkness.

"Stand up." Patrick demands again.

"I can't." I yell at him. He bends down and puts both hands under my arms to lift me. I wobble before I start to fall again. This time he doesn't let go. I'm not sure I want him touching me, but I don't like the hard drop to my knees either.

"I let you heal to much this time. It will take time to learn the correct amount of healing required to keep you just weak enough to function as a normal being. We'll get there." The evil curl of his lips made my stomach turn with anxiety. He was a monster.

"I'm so tired." I tried my best not to slip into the recovery comma, but he was right. He hadn't pulled me away in enough time not to trigger it. I felt myself go limp. I entered a conscious comma state as he lifted me up and carries me off. I open my eyes a few times watching the ceiling as he hauls me to my prison cell and lays me in the bed. At least I'm clean. "Sleep my queen. We'll try again tomorrow." Patrick tucks me in than leaves. I close my eyes thinking about Darevan. What was he doing in my old room? And who was with him? Was he going to try to rescue me or was it to dangerous? I hoped he wouldn't get caught sneaking about the castle. The last thing I wanted was for him to be caught. I don't think I could handle watching him beheaded.

I drift into recovery and all thoughts leave me. I want to dream of happier things but only the dark emptiness of a dreamless state hit me as I recharge.
