Maxwell's POV

I watched how my sister licked the wounds of her mate, and once again, I was overwhelmed with the feeling of despair, knowing my mate wasn't by my side in my time of need. I went from sad to angry in seconds.

I didn't envy what my friends and family had; it was the fact that I had it in my hands but lost it before I could even savor it that upset me.

I turn around, looking for my father. I try to push away the thoughts that are not helping me or my wolf. I imagine a scenario where I see my father fighting a Black wolf that attacked my mother, and she is standing by his side as she should be.

But what if there is something else in front of my father that he is defending himself from while also trying to protect my mother?

Who Is that black wolf?

These thoughts are overwhelming, especially with the image of my mate in my mind. As I came back to my senses, I scanned the scene of the wolves fighting around me.

Four members of my group were in the midst of the battle, including my beta, Austin, and his mate, who was doing well with a two-on-one advantage.

However, My Father Beta, and his mate seemed to be struggling. I also spotted my Mother and father joining the fray on our side.

Overall, it seemed like we were going to come out victorious. I always believed in our abilities, so why would this be different? As I had these thoughts he appeared once again and my blood started to boil.

Approaching us in human form, he spoke with a group of wolves trailing behind. It was only three, Which seemed stronger than what we have been fighting with so far.

"Seems you've killed my weakest wolf," he said with a deadly smile,

"Congratulations. It took you quite some time, didn't it? One thousand and forty-five seconds, at most?" He looked at his watch and continued.

"What's that sixteen minutes." he laughed while shoulder-bumping one of his wolf members.

"If you struggled with a warrior wolf for that long, just imagine if I overwhelmed you with numbers right now."

After reverting to his human form, my dad approached him and asked "Why we should go that far."

He then questioned what he wanted from us. Since he had my mate, he proposed that instead of going to war, we should settle this matter more reasonably.

He laughed and then Spoke

"What do I want from you? I want you to die." he smiled that same smile again.

"Why should I the midnight moon has done nothing to you, so please explain why I should die and not you today?" My dad asked him looking more confused than angry.

Saint mentioned that we have been talking a lot.

"At this point, I am ready to move on from this dull conversation. If you would like me to explain further Uncle, please ask politely." He said while chucking.

"Uncle?" I said suddenly, this motherfucker couldn't be my kin. I wouldn't allow it, over my dead body.

"So this is what this is, after this, I will go talk with Lunar Eclipse Moon." My dad said right before shifting into his wolf again.

"Ahh I've said too much, let's get to it then," he said as he waved us off and the fighting began once again. I got in a defensive position as the three wolves attacked all who were near me and my dad.

The new wolves that joined the Saints pack in the fight were intimidating. I had to approach them with caution and couldn't take any chances. Playing with them was out of the question, as they were serious competition. I knew that if I wasn't careful, it could cost me my life and the ones around me.

While coming up with a game plan on the spot, one of the wolves attacked me. I quickly reacted and shoulder-checked it right as I used my elemental powers to cover my wolf in sharp icicles, he yelped in pain while falling and bleeding profusely.

As I was about to complete the task, a thought crossed my mind that it was surprisingly effortless. Perhaps my Elemental had something to do with it, or maybe the opponents were weaker than the previous ones.

However, I soon realized something was amiss when I attempted to freeze a wolf, and my powers failed me. To my dismay, the icicles that had formed on my body began to melt away as well. This was weird and I didn't like this whatsoever.

I'm wondering how my trump card failed me. I usually felt like I could make things happen, but now I'm questioning if I was doing something wrong. I'm looking for my sister, Maxine, to see if it's something beyond my control or if is she not allowed to use her powers anymore either.

I see Maxine fighting for her life. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed that her fur-like body was covered in smoke, which had just been extinguished from her fiery form.

She's putting up a good fight, attacking Neck and other vital points with ease. Although she's not completely helpless, our powers have been effective against her enemies in the past battle but Now they are gone.

I find myself staring into his eyes, watching as he laughs uncontrollably while remaining in human form. It frustrates me to no end because I feel he underestimates our strength, thinking that we rely on abilities that are not even strong enough to defeat him.

This thought does not sit well with me.

Then I think about how he said he was my cousin, could he have some type of power like me and my sister too? I hope not because it would make this battle 10x harder than what it is right now.

I pray to the moon goddess that he is as powerless as a regular wolf with our bloodline or not please be normal..............
