Hearing that, Leah’s hands clenched tight under the table. But she kept a cool facade. “Indeed, you’re so lucky! Marrying Emmett is a dream come true for many people!”
“Sure, I don’t really care about wealth or power; I can do without all that. But with the love and care Emmett shows me, I really feel like I’ve chosen the right husband.”
Leah smirked. Of course, she knew Clara was just showing off their love!
But their lovey-dovey act was about to come to an end! Clara wouldn’t be so lucky for long!
“You and your husband are
sweet. I wish I could have such a marriage.”
“Everyone meets their person; just chill.” Seeing Leah hold no suspicion, Clara felt more at ease and guess it was just her overthinking!
Emmett swung her office door open five minutes after Clara returned to the office.
“Where were you just now?”
“I met a friend,” Clara answered casually, so Emmett didn’t suspect a thing.
“Next time, introduce me to your friends.”
“Sure thing! When she’s done with her busy schedule!” Clara smiled at him, “My friend is so envious of our relationship! Do you think I did a lot of good deeds in my past life to meet you in this one?”
“You’re especially sweet today.” Emmett smirked, coming over to hug her from behind, “I suddenly remembered the question you asked me last night when I was in the meeting.”
Clara’s heart sank, “What question from last night? I can’t remember!”
“It’s about Aiden’s birth mother.”
“…I was just asking casually!”
“But I think you were serious.” Emmett nibbled on her ear, “Are you worried she’ll return? Worried I’ll fall in love with her again, worried my mother will like her more because she’s his real mother.”
Clara blinked. Truth be told, she hadn’t thought that much!
She just remembered Elio warning her about Leah, and now Leah was showing up more often, so she felt something was off.
“My wife is only you.”
Clara suddenly felt interested. She turned to look at Emmett, “Then let me ask you, hypothetically, just hypothetically, what if your mother threatened to kill herself to make you marry another woman?”
Emmett frowned, “I haven’t thought about that.”
“Think about it now.”
“Unless you betray me, you’re my only wife.” Emmett smiled, then said, “Clara, have a baby for me! That way, I’ll feel more secure.”
“Why are we suddenly talking about this?”

“Aren’t these two things related? You’re actually worried my mother will force me to marry Aiden’s birth mother.
