Get in.” Emmett walked over, his face still as expressionless as before, but he took Aiden’s backpack and slung it over his wrist. 

This gesture was just like a typical dad picking his kid up from school. 

“Dad, why are you here to pick me up today? Didn’t Ms. Calloway have to go abroad for something? Aren’t I supposed to go back to Grandma’s?” 

He originally left the Melendez family to get closer to Clara. Now that Clara was abroad, he thought he would return to them 

“So, you want to go back? Emmett asked. 

Aiden thought for a moment, I’m okay with anything! Aren’t you busy with work? Do you have time to put me to sleep?” 

Emmett frowned slightly, “You’re this old and still need someone to put you to sleep? Are you scared?” 

“Of course not! I just… I’m not used to sleeping in a new bed, so I want someone to talk to me, tell me stories, and then I’ll fall asleep when I’m tired” Aiden squinted and smiled. He felt close to his dad for the first time! They were like a typical father and son.

“Dad, I won’t insist on you finding a mom anymore. I was silly before, I’m sorry” 

Emmett was taken aback by his son’s sudden apology. 

“It’s not your fault, it’s mine for not considering your needs.” A child this big really needed a mom. 

“I really like Ms Calloway, I feel like she’s my mom! Can you keep her? Keep her forever.” 

Emmett looked at his son’s innocent eyes, his heart softened, and he reached out to ruffle his son’s hair. 

“Of course! She is already married to your dad, so she will be your mom from now on. 

“Can I call her mom?” 

“Yes, as long as you’re willing” 

He was initially worried that with Aiden’s personality, the two of them might not get along well, and Aiden might even reject Clara!
