Amy’s POV

I was running. That’s a one thing I’m doing since Zach was killed and I think that has become a cruel habit. Zach had said something about myself that even I was afraid of. He knows... He knows everything about my bloodline which I didn’t even know. He was the one who told me I was adopted. He was the one who awakened my hidden powers. But sometimes it wasn’t him...it was like someone else has taken his body. And that person didn’t want me to get hurt. People say that eyes are the windows to the soul. His blue eyes were pleading when he tried to harm me. Like he was screaming for me to see, that he didn't mean it. I have seen him fighting with himself for control. I thought he still loved me but guess what?

His revenge was more important than his love. Cause the moment I started to scream his pleading stopped and there took over the cold blue depth, I hated to see. So, I have given up a long time ago. There was just no point in fighting. There was no way he was going back to become the person I loved. He is long dead. The person who returned from the dead wasn’t the Zach I knew.

Flashbacks

I wanted nothing but to live through my senior year peacefully. People used to say that I was as spiritful as a child who loved everyone near her. I had my mother Roth Gill and my boyfriend Zach Henderson. I never knew my father as mom said he abandoned us for a woman he loved. Despite that, I couldn’t ask any better life for me. But even after that, I wasn’t happy. My thoughts on my best friend Samara was always with me. Taunting me to remember what I did to her. The burden of my own friend’s death was something I couldn’t handle even if I wanted.

“Want some?″ Zach asked pointing at the ice cream shop. I smiled at him in an answer. He always knew how to cheer me up. Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Only if you pay.” I teased poking my tongue out. He gave me a wink in return and killed the headlights of his bike.

“Whatever you say, sweetcheeks.” He stated and gave me a brief kiss before entering the ice cream shop.

Zach was someone I always wanted for a boyfriend. I had a crush on him since 7th grade but when an eventful accident happened in my freshman year, only then we got to talk to each other. First, we started to hang out after a date and then on the sophomore year, he asked me out. But what I didn’t know that, this was going to be the same year my best friend Samara will die to save me from a running truck... Or that I’ll never have a decent sleep without seeing my friend die in front of my own eyes over and over again.

“You should thank me that I was able to charm her up, Amy. Here, your's chocolate cookie.” Zach brought me up from the endless memories I was trying to run from.

“She was an old lady, Zach.” I chuckled at the memory of the old lady cursing at Zach’s flirty nature. He also joined me reddening in embarrassment.

“But I was able to make you laugh.” He said so quietly that I almost didn’t hear it. But I was happy to have him, glad even. No one in their right mind will take their girlfriend out at 3 in the morning for ice cream just because she had a bad dream. But Zach was crazy like that. And that’s why I loved him the most.

“You’ll never leave me, right?″ I asked through my eyelashes looking at Zach with pleading eyes. I was tired of losing the people I love. I didn’t want to add another, obviously not Zach.

“Over my dead body,” Zach replied giving me a kiss of promise.

But we both didn’t know what was waiting for us. And when we knew, there was nothing to save or hold for.

Now

Today I’m going back to home. I haven’t seen mom a long time. I know when she’ll see me she will break down thinking it was all her fault but it wasn’t. Zach manipulated her into thinking that I was insane. Nobody can see dead people, right? Upps! Maybe I did.

And also, I need to know about my mother who I keep hearing about. Zach said she can be seen in the mirror but it’ll take me more power to be able to do that. Mom obviously knows who my real birth mother is. And then maybe I’ll find the answers I’m hunting.

And, maybe I’ll find Keisha Deshayes.

Harrison’s POV

“Do you really had to punch me like that?” Aaron let out a cry when we reached my office. I was too tired to fight but when he sounded like I’m the one in guilt, I had to fight back.

“Yes! What were you doing man? You almost told him everything.” I yelled at him for his stupidity.

“But he wanted to know everything!” He whined. This idiot will be the death of me. It was getting irritated. He kept telling me to back off from this case. Did I ever back from a case? No...never. It wasn’t in me to back down. Then a ringing sound brought me back to what I was doing.

“Hello?"

“I’ve got what you wanted. Now come home.” A voice spoke calmly and a heavy sigh left from my mouth. Just when I thought I had everything handled...

“I’ll be there. Don’t worry.” And then I cut the call. Aaron was looking at me demanding who it was. But I pushed passed him to go to the backside of my condo.

“If you please excuse me? I need to go to Tennessee.” I knew my answer surprised him as predicted his eyes widened. My flight was already booked and I had only one hour. I took my suitcase and opened my door to walk out.

“Wait, what!? You didn’t even tell me!” He got in the way and had a disbelieving face. I don’t blame him but I needed to go alone. I needed to find the damn answers.

“If I told you, you’d stop me from going. So I didn’t say a thing. Can you blame me?" I asked and his face fell. He knew he’d stop me. He has stopped me from going many times. That’s how I got into many troubles that Aaron didn’t know.

“Why the hell are you going back there? I thought you left home, dude. You told me so.” Was his defeated voice.

Yes. I had left home when I was getting promotion in my job. It was either I go to New York or stay in Tennessee. I have chosen New York and left mom behind. It was a harsh decision but now that I think about it...it was good for all of our life.

“I need to see mom. There’s something bothering me so I have decided to go and see her. Don’t worry. I’ll be back in a week.”

I said and stormed off. I didn’t need the advice Aaron was going to give me.
